  • Hello everyone! Today I'll be showing you how to transport dart frogs, or other small reptiles and amphibians from a similar environment. At the end of the video I also have an announcement to make.
This video will show how to setup the transport cups, how to catch the frogs and how to keep the temperature stable during the ride using a styrofoam box.
As promised, here are the rules regarding CITES in Sweden as well as a template for a breeder certificate. If you're not Swedish, I have no idea whether or not these breeder certificates comply with the legislations and board of agriculture in your country.

Nice of you to add cuttings. If its super cold you can use those handwarmers you can get at many stores. They ones you crush, and put in your pockets for like a sports game in the winter. I have these on hand for power outages for my ball python.

    Excellent! I really enjoyed this.
I have one suggestion, put text names on each species the first time they appear in your footage. I don't even have frogs yet and I recognize leucomelas, but some of the species can be hard to identify.

Thank you! I usually try to do that if the names are really relevant for whatever point I’m making (or if it’s a collection tour), but I’ll consider doing it more in the future

@@Tropical_Tutorials I saw that you do that often as I watched more of your videos! It must get tedious, and if I could have found this comment last night and deleted/revised it I would have! I'm really enjoying your content and all the practical advice. I'm really glad I found your channel. Bravo RUclips algorithm!

    Hi Emanuel, great video!
I'm curious about the CITES forms, could you maybe explain how that works? Like, do you have to register yourself as a breeder somewhere if you want to sell some frogs? How do the animals get their own CITES number?
Sorry if it's a complicated question..
Keep putting out great content 👍

I'm in Sweden, so I have no clue what's necessary in other countries. I'm not even sure if you need any documentation what so ever in the US for example.
Here, you don't need to register as a breeder when it's CITES II-animals (though you'd definitely need to if it was CITES I-listed animals), however, you need proper documentation in case someone wanted to have a look at it. The exact requirements for the documentation will entirely depend on your country's board of agriculture. In Sweden, these exact requirements are extremely unclear (multiple breeders have asked the Swedish Board of Agriculture on many occasions and gotten very unspecific responses), but here's my interpretation: the animals need to have individual documentation (just a breeder's certificate, such as the one I linked in the description of the video) stating that they have a legal background and information about who bred them (and possibly requires information about who bred the parent animals, which is the unclear part). However, our board of agriculture doesn't require each animal to be chipped and have it's own ID number (once again, I'm only talking about CITES II-animals, which include all dart frogs and mantellas, but CITES I-listed animals have much stricter requirements); the inspectors are human after all and seem to realize that such a routine wouldn't be realistic or useful for dart frog breeders.

@@Tropical_Tutorials Wow, thanks for taking the time to answer me in such detail. I also live in Europe (Portugal) and I guess being overly bureaucratic is typical of us, because I also find it extremely confusing whenever I try to understand how it works over here. Thanks for the great explanation, really appreciate it. You got me convinced through your videos, I need some dart frogs now..😁

Do you think you'll ever make a video about how to culture fruit flies? Not entirely sure where to start, and I'm guessing that getting them without knowing how to keep them alive is a bad idea 😅

I’ll definitely consider it, but if you want to know soon you should probably find another source because of my bad upload schedule :)

@@Tropical_Tutorials We just put a background in our otherwise empty terrarium yesterday, and are going away for a week, so it'll probably be a while until we get any frogs. I'll look into other sources in the meantime, but your videos are always very beginner-friendly and easy to follow!

@@tobiasmattsson9285 I actually recorded when I made fruit fly cultures today, and started working on a script, but it’ll probably like a few weeks or so until I finish the video and upload it.
