I think it's a great shame this hotel will be demolished, not only because of the history, but because it has that 'classic Vegas' feel. The Tiffany roof was spectacular. Many thanks Jordan for all these Vegas vlogs - you really do open up the world for us.
Exactly. I was in Vegas last weekend and The Tropicana was the last remnant of Old Vegas left on The Strip. In the late 90's I'd stay there on business for $18 a night. Yes it was dark and smokey but that's part of the charm of the place. A little step back in time, soon to be gone just like all of the classic Vegas Casinos of yesteryear.
My husband and I spent our wedding night at the Tropicana in 1965. All the hotels were spaced quite a bit apart with a lot of desert in between in those days. The men wore suits or tuxedos and the women wore formals or cocktail dresses when going out for an evening at the hotels. Fremont Street was more casual. Nothing like living in Vegas in the early days.
I think so, too. I love vintage Vegas so have read a lot of books and love looking at old photos. It is truly the end of an era. Like you, Jordan, I am amazed that they don't brag about their history.
This breaks my heart, as the Tropicana was where my wife and I got married in 2018. We used to stay there every summer. We would book a room in the Bungalos (the original part of the hotel) as those rooms have balconies facing the pool. Still have a ton of Tropicana swag. So sad.
I live in Vegas and worked at the Trop for 11 years. I am very sad that it will be coming down! The Trop Theater you spoke about (previously known as The Tiffany Theater) is where the Folies Bergere performed as well as day time acts and other performers. It definitely would have been where Eddie Fisher performed. Also, the huge rock formation out front once was a beautiful waterfall. The hotel was remodeled by new owners around 2010 or so. BTW, the next time you are in a room and there is no fridge, call the Front Desk and ask for one. When I was working at the Trop we often had fridge requests especially for people who needed to store medicine and they would bring it to your room. I don't know if hotels still do it, but it doesn't hurt to ask! Thanks for the awesome video and memories, Jordan!
I usually don’t comment but this video truly sadden me! I hate to see such an iconic Vegas hotel has been destroyed! I wish I had stayed there on one of my trips there! Thank you for ALL of your GREAT videos! ❤ your channel! ❤
I've lived here 37 yrs and the way corporate people just crushed history here sucks. I still love it here but I miss places like the Dunes, I once took a date there to see Ghallager and saw Don Adams it was really cool.
Jordan enjoyed this video I am so glad you got a chance to share it with us before it is no longer around this was so fun and we miss that loveable pup jah.
Live in Vegas and really enjoy your broadcasts from here.Terrific! And I know your not crazy about Hollywood but I still love it and liked the videos you did so thanks for that too.
I’m glad you decided to stay at the Tropicana. I had the opportunity to stay at the Rivera hotel and casino and decided I didn’t want to stay there because it was to ghetto and now I regret it. I love Vegas and Vegas history. So this video is gonna be a big hit when the Tropicana is no longer their. Then you could say you stayed at that historic hotel. Loved the vlog Jordan, great job! -Paul 😎
Great Vlog Jordan, I am really glad you got to stay at the Tropicana before they demolish the hotel. I wish they were not planning to tear it down. Why? The Oakland Athletics can find another place to build a stadium.
When I first went to the Trop in the early 90’s, there were pictures everywhere of famous movie stars (my favs were Dean Martin). The Tiffany glass arch had incredible acrobats performing with blackjack tables beneath. Your outdoor pics with the ‘holes’ was actually a beautiful waterfall back in the day. I too will miss this place as I usually stay here. So much for history eh? Thanks Jordan for showing it one more time ❣️
Thank you so much for this video! I've been a dealer for 24 years and I've NEVER been to Vegas! My husband booked us 3 nights in November and I was so excited until everyone started telling me what a dump it is🫤. Your video makes me look forward to our trip again and your KC hat sealed it for me! Can't wait! Thanks again!
I am so happy you did stay there. It is so cool to get to see some of old Vegas. It is beautiful. And I like that it doesn't seem so crowded that you can't see anything. I can picture Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. there! Frank's favorite color was orange! I did not know that Eddie Fisher was the first headliner there. That's cool to know. They should have a Las Vega museum there, in Vegas, for all the history that is being lost. Lot's of video's of the old shows and photos and information about who played there, who lived there. That would be cool. Thank you Jordan, again, for stepping out of the masses and going somewhere no one else would think to go. When they tear this down, you will probably be the only one with video of the place.
Yes i agree with you Jordan very sad to see history just wiped away just like that! So thanks for showing us & giving us the full story of The Tropicana. 🌟
That's how I remember the Sands (now The Venetian) where the Rat Pack entertained. The casino was like a time warp from 1955. Nothing changed. It had such an amazing Atomic Age Design decor was maintained very well. I loved the entire vibe of that place ... Great vlog!!
My friend Kyle and I, back in the 90s would always stay at Bally's since it was more in the center of the strip and not so over themed which we found more relaxing. Last time we were there, they were still building the Stratosphere. I'm glad you got to stay at the Tropicana before it's destroyed.
I spent many summers in Vegas with my father and the Tropicana was one of his favorite places to go. That place is differently old time Vegas sad to see it go. Thanks for another cool video.
You know, it’s just so sad that Vegas is a lot like Hollywood in the sense that they don’t care about their history, nor the nostalgia that the guest have coming to their cities, and they just don’t care about tearing down there, history!!! it’s so heartbreaking. Thank you for staying there in Vlogging this before it’s gone.😢
Apparently there's old school spy tech up in the stained glass ceiling. And I stayed there in '19 in the winter; the pool area was closed. It looks great! I heard their pool area is massive, one of the biggest in Vegas since there was so much land avail in '57. No wonder they want to use it for a baseball stadium. And I do hope they keep parts intact during the reno. Old school Vegas needs to be preserved
That's true. One way mirrors . I still work there security and I was shown that part my first day. Also there is an old horse careswheel above the bungalows.
It’s so sad how much Las Vegas has changed I was there in 1970 and everything was so wonderful, those were the days. Ty Jordan for always taking me places that I will never get to go again🐾😎The furniture is so cool, hope they sell it so others can enjoy it
I've stayed in many Vegas hotels, but only stay in old Vegas. Tropicana is one of our favorites. We now only stay at the Four Queens. Love the bands playing on the stage in front of the hotel. Plus, the whole Fremont experience. Fantastic video Jordan!!
I stayed at Tropicana about 15 years ago and it must have been before a renovation because it was REALLY dated - like from the 1970s - bright orange and turquoise colors in the room, old furniture, etc. Your room looks a bit dated too, as I'm sure they all do now. I wish they had sacrificed the Rio (that's a depressing property) for a stadium and preserved The Tropicana. It has a prime location on the strip. I guess they call destroying The Trop progress, but there's something really cool about historic preservation, especially in a prime tourist destination like Vegas. Maybe we should take note of a line from the Jimmy Buffett song Barometer Soup: "You lust for the future, but treasure the past."
wow, thanks for the videos. my 1st time in vegas, we stayed at the tropicana. my uncle lived in Ca, took us to vegas for a weekend. he went there once a month. you dressed up to go to dinner & to shows back in the day.
Jordan- I’m pleasantly surprised at what the Tropicana. I was there years ago and it was not pretty like it is now. The Tropicana was dirty at the time I was there and very old looking. The blog today is very nice. I used to stay at Excalibur a crossed the street. I really can’t believe how things are changing there. Thanks very much
Hi Jordan, You mentioned that the Tropicana once stood alone (although the Hacienda was even farther out and also alone). This condition remained until the late 1970's/early 1980's. And oddly enough, the strip--until this time-- didn't have another casino/hotel until the Alladdin, which was quite a ways down Las Vegas Blvd. In between Tropicana Blvd. and whatever cross street the Alladdin was on there were a number of drive up motels. One of them was called the Desert Rose and I stayed there (I think three times). A side note...Awhile back, you vlogged the Vegas Neon museum. And in it, I saw the Desert Rose sign. Now I could be mistaken (It's been a very long time) about it being the Desert Rose. I am, however, a hundred percent positive it was something Rose. Either way, seeing the sign at the museum brought back memories of my Las Vegas strip motel stays, my buddy who was with me each trip (someone I lost track of decades ago) and the crusty around the edges and hysterical old man who ran the place. With regards to the latter, I should add that the old man had a questionable moral code. He'd offer up potential hookups to all sorts of things...You don't have that kind of "color" in Vegas anymore...lol A Tropicana story...I was in Vegas for the first time at the age of ten. My grandparents and I stopped there on our (road trip) way to their home in L.A., where I was to stay for the summer. One afternoon my grandparents were gambling at the Tropicana and I made the mistake of wandering out of the kids area (which was a major no-no) and approaching my grandmother, who was playing a close by/within direct eye view of me slot machine. Within a few seconds; I was apprehended, lifted off my feet, carried by my shoulders back to the kids area and very sternly warned to not do it again by a huge man in a blue suit. A decade or so later, while on one of the 1980's trips I mentioned above, it occurred to me that my grandmother didn't complain about my "manhandling." She only apologized...I then remembered the man was definitely Italian and probably named Tommy "Two Triggers"...lol Vegas sure has changed.....
Vegas has changed so much, that casinos charge for parking now days and those ridiculous resort fees! As for that eyetalian man that threw you back in; maybe his name was Tony Pepperoni from the Boyardee family!😅
😊 wow, very interesting! Thanks for all your videos Jordan we really really do appreciate them and all the time and dedication you’ve put in😊 Jordan, how old is Jah now?? I remember when he was really small and watch him grow over the years is just amazing. I don’t know how long that Chihuahuas live their life span but he must be about what nine or 10 years old now? I miss that little fella.😊
So sad. One, if not the last old school history of Las Vegas. I was privileged to be part of a fiber optic retrofit of the place in 2017. Got to see the " Unseen" areas of the place. Amazing history.
I'm really surprised the Las Vegas community hasn't rallied to make it a historical landmark. Sad. I'm so tired of us losing our history to "progress". Thank you for showing recording it. I so appreciate it.
I stayed at The Trop in 2005. I'm sad to hear they are tearing it down. It's definitely updated since i stayed there, but looks the same ar the same time. The tub was a basic tub when i stayed. Like you im even more glad i stayed there now.
Just watched your Trop video and I loved it! Your description of the vibe and feel is exactly how I feel when I'm there👍 old Vegas feels with a subdued fun vibe
I never stayed at the Trop, but have gambled there a few times. Saw it many years ago when it was a little run down. It still had that "Old Vegas" vibe to it. Saw it a few years ago after the remodel. I was impressed for the most part. It would be interesting to see one property (Tropicana would be a fine choice) give a shot at going "Old School". No resort fees, reasonable room rates, $5.99 Prime Rib dinners, and $2.99 breakfast with your players card. I wonder if they would be a constant "No Rooms Available"?
I've been in most LV hotels but I think I missed this for some reason. Great video. I used to love LV but actually I have soured on it a bit. It's getting a bit too expensive and it just seems to have lost lots of it's soul. Not surprised they will tear it down because in LV nothing is sacred.
I really enjoyed my stay there in 1987. I like the history behind that one. What a bummer they don't have the history displayed anymore. I got to see one of those old style reviews shows there.
We used to live in Los Angeles back in the ninety’s and used to go to Vegas a lot on the weekends. We stayed at the Tropicana a lot. The rooms had mirrors above the bed 😂 and had the same tubs. The downstairs had a dark Tropicana decor. There were animals by a bar in the main area, and flamingos out by the pool. The pool area used to be be pretty.
Good memories of the Tropicana from staying there in 1989. Could see the Excalibur from my room and down the street the Luxor. The MGM had a simple movie themed boat ride. I remember the “Hamster” tubes so people could cross the street over traffic at different places.
It’s a great place to stay, as someone who’s been going to Vegas since the 70 ‘s it’s sad to know it’s on the demo list. Thank Jordan, love the KC hat btw. ✌🏻
Have you seen the Mob Museum on Stewart St.? It's in the historic court house/post office where the Kefauver hearings were held in the 1950's. You'll find many photos and memorabilia there.
wow what a nice simple place and the oldest of them all. looks too pretty to be demolished. anyway to stop it being demolished !? thanks Jordan for this, stay safe.
I've stayed at alot of hotels on the strip since 2003 I always tell people that this hotel is underrated . I love that it's been on the strip just as lo g as the flamingo hotel.
The Skeet shooting scene was filmed at Bob Taylor’s Ranch in North Las Vegas. It’s a Steak House now. You should go there and film. Has a very cool history & great steak.
Such a shame that beautiful hotel will be torn down for a sports stadium. I can guarantee the stadium won't last as long as the Tropicana has. Such a shame. Although the orange scheme is not my favorite, the only orange I like is on a Cleveland Browns uniform; (yes I know you are a Bengals fan, I'm Browns). Stay safe my friend, and thanks for a lovely tour of a soon-to-be torn down building.
I can't believe they're going to tear it down. We stayed at the Tropicana in 2017 in one of the towers overlooking the strip. Even renewed our wedding vows at one of the Little Chapels with an Elvis impersonator.
Very cool that you stayed here. Sad that the history pictures weren't included in the remodel. The property looks so pretty. I never did like the screen in the windows. Made me think of Ceasars as they had them too. So much history going away.
We stayed here on a sat last October. I was a little shocked by those prices - they are charging quite a lot of money considering that this place hasn't been properly overhauled in ages. But I enjoyed our stay - had a strip view from the club tower, everything was clean and the bed was VERY comfy. Also very quiet & not as overwhelming as all the other places on the strip. Definitely agree that they should have put up more pictures from the old days..
Surprised there aren’t many photos there from the old days. Seems like that would be a big part of its charm. Still, cool style of architecture and design. Cool to get a chance to stay there esp as it may be gone soon! Always enjoy your vids wherever they take us 👍😀
15:13 😢❤. Yeh my late hubby Eddie i got married in LV and we stayed here on our honeymoon 2x they gave the suite and chapagne and strawberries he played poker, but yeh sadly he died October 2021 heart disease he loved LV but yeh i 😢 to return for me.
The place is gorgeous. Why so empty? A shame these old hotel casinos are being left for big crowded hotel casinos. I’d prefer a stay here over Mandalay Bay or Bellagio. Caesars still our favorite. Sorry to lose this place.
Thank you for sharing this video! There should at least be one original Las Vegas hotel that is on a historic register and not demolished! For rooms that don’t have refrigerators, you can ask for one in your room although there is a fee (which kinda stinks). Thank you for showing us some really cool sites!❤️👍🏻
So sad to hear they are tearing it down. We stayed there many years ago when we were in Vegas. We loved it! On a side note...thank you for representing KC in Vegas!
Stayed at the Tropicana a few years ago, a historical and sweet hotel. How disappointing the plan is to tear down this hotel. I would have much rather the Tropicana would have been reinvited. Another great Vlog Jordan!
I think it's a great shame this hotel will be demolished, not only because of the history, but because it has that 'classic Vegas' feel.
The Tiffany roof was spectacular. Many thanks Jordan for all these Vegas vlogs - you really do open up the world for us.

Wow. Great Memories 💕
Wow. You should write a memoir! ✍️
It's really sad to see another piece of history lost. We need to preserve our history not bulldozing it.
I think so, too. I love vintage Vegas so have read a lot of books and love looking at old photos. It is truly the end of an era. Like you, Jordan, I am amazed that they don't brag about their history.

I saw Follies Bergere at the Trop back in the 80s. Just looked up the history of it, that show ran for 50 years!
Nice! I wish I saw this before I performed there. Thanks for making this Jordan!
Live in Vegas and really enjoy your broadcasts from here.Terrific! And I know your not crazy about Hollywood but I still love it and liked the videos you did so thanks for that too.

Ok this hotel was nothing special. I remember going there when we stayed at mgm to eat in 1995.
This hotel is way past its due date.
Popped into the Tropicana to see the MJ Live show in May. Was flawed to learn that such a nice looking hotel could be demolished

Way to keep reppin' KC, my friend. 💙 Thanks for taking us along in Vegas.
I worked at the Tropicana Atlantic City for 30 years as a dealer. They had a Havana theme also
BTW, my name is George. I dislike that my email is hidden
I think the original Vegas hotels should be designated historic landmarks. Thanks for a view into pop culture history.
brings back memories as i worked there many years ago
Bitter sweet stay glad you checked it out. Nice place!
I really enjoyed my stay there in 1987. I like the history behind that one. What a bummer they don't have the history displayed anymore. I got to see one of those old style reviews shows there.
First and only time in Las Vegas was in 1984, I was 21...I wish I appreciated it more than I did at that time!!!
We stayed here the first time we went to Vegas. I loved the stained glass ceiling. Shame they are taking it down. Thanks for this blog.
Thank you, sad to see it go.
I hate to see the Tropicana torn down nice hotel nice to see the stars that appeared their good vlog Jordan vickie napa california
Of course enjoyed, Jordan
wow what a nice simple place and the oldest of them all. looks too pretty to be demolished. anyway to stop it being demolished !? thanks Jordan for this, stay safe.
Great video
That’s for sharing
I've stayed at alot of hotels on the strip since 2003 I always tell people that this hotel is underrated . I love that it's been on the strip just as lo g as the flamingo hotel.
Totally agree if you have been around from 1958 you should show some of its history
Nice hotel and casino. My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon in 2010.
Rich Little…RICH LITTLE is still preforming in Vegas…WOW!!😮
I can't believe they're going to tear it down. We stayed at the Tropicana in 2017 in one of the towers overlooking the strip. Even renewed our wedding vows at one of the Little Chapels with an Elvis impersonator.
Very cool that you stayed here. Sad that the history pictures weren't included in the remodel. The property looks so pretty. I never did like the screen in the windows. Made me think of Ceasars as they had them too. So much history going away.
Love the KC cap! I know they suck right now but, it’s my hometown, and I still love them.😆👍🏼
We stayed here on a sat last October.
Always enjoy your vids wherever they take us 👍😀
My thoughts exactly
Im going very soon. I always stay at paris, but i think i will stay there for one day only before they tear it down and take pictures. 😊
Sad to hear that this legendary hotel is going away 😢. I'm the same age as it and only been there once.
15:13 😢❤. Yeh my late hubby Eddie i got married in LV and we stayed here on our honeymoon 2x they gave the suite and chapagne and strawberries he played poker, but yeh sadly he died October 2021 heart disease he loved LV but yeh i 😢 to return for me.
Awesome bit of history. TFS
I'm so luckey. I'm going to Vegas March 30 from Canada. I never went there. But I will be going before they shutter it. Then back for the implosion.
Wow Jordan that was cool! is their any type of Las Vegas Musuem in Las Vegas? Hope Jah & your Grandpa are well...
I remember playing slots there, in 1990!
So sad to hear they are tearing it down. We stayed there many years ago when we were in Vegas. We loved it! On a side note...thank you for representing KC in Vegas!
THEY'RE DEMOLISHING IT???!!!! 😱 But...why...? 🥺😟😭💔
Stayed at the Tropicana a few years ago, a historical and sweet hotel. How disappointing the plan is to tear down this hotel. I would have much rather the Tropicana would have been reinvited. Another great Vlog Jordan!
Awe sad to see the Tropicana go, but it sure had a great run. Once walked from Circus Circus to the Tropicana. Only once😂
I walked from the Excalibur to the Strat!! and back....took all night, got ya beat
