I think the guy in the photo with Carole Channing, George Burns & Robert Goulet was Tom Smothers from the comedic duo the Smothers Brothers. Fun video!
Jordan - No, I believe the guy on the left next to George Burns in the photo is Tommy Smothers of the Smother's Brothers. This was such a treat. I love that they honor the history as well. Have a lovely weekend, my friend. Blessings - Judith 🎵🎭
@@karenleemallonee684 I am right there with you. I have my first Cataract surgery a week from today. That is why I added a I believe to that sentence. LOL!!!
I remember seeing Wayland Flowers and Madame at the Saraha back in the 1980's. What a different time in Las Vegas, so many entertainers all over town not just the more permanent type shows they have these days.
Gotta love Vegas and the history ❤❤❤❤❤ I love the restaurants and the NEON ❤❤❤❤ Thanks again Jordan for sharing. 🙏🏽RIP Tony Bennett. Condolences to his family and friends 😢😢😢
I haven’t been to Las Vegas since 1994! My friends & I will be staying at the Sarah in Sept. I loved this video because it gives a good idea of what to expect during our stay. Thank you so much! Appreciate your videos! 🤗💕🙏🏻
I went on their roller coaster the last day it was open about ten years ago. The place has been remodeled since then and is a lot classier now. After they demolish the Tropicana, the Sahara will be the last original strip casino left.
One of my favorite hotels in VEGAS. Stayed there MANY times before they Changed it to the SLS by the new mgmt. Now it's Changed back to Sahara. I loved the original Buffet.. Many memories.
Really enjoyable tour of the Sahara - absolutely 'classic' Vegas. The coin/chandelier effect was impressive and your room was great - what a view from the window! Many thanks for taking us to all these amazing places.
I was at that Beatles concert , with my best friend and of course, our mothers! The Sahara was a great place for a long time. Lots of big stars worked the Sahara. I grew up behind the Hilton ( Westgate), what a great life I had. Glad you went there because too often the Sahara is overlooked for the bigger, fancier places south on the strip. The Golden Steer is a great place, too. Thank you for going old Vegas.
I have always loved staying at the Sahara. In the 80's and 90's, the insurance company I worked for would always plan their semi-annual conferences in Las Vegas, but at the Flamingo. I would always book a room at the Sahara and check in a few days before the conference. I'd spend my time watching TV, walking the strip, playing the slots conservatively and each night I would have dinner in the Mexican restaurant they had at the time in the Sahara. They served amazing food and I usually had the place to myself because I'd always go down late at night! I was so pleased to see the hotel return to the name "Sahara" as it was named SLS Las Vegas for awhile. What idiot decided on that name? Anyway, I'm anxious to go back when I retire in two years! Definitely something to look forward to. I love the history of the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas!
Thanks for showing us this place. It makes me want to book it the next time I go to Vegas. You definitely have to film Katie's reaction to that shower window when she first sees the room. LOL. Too funny.
I would love to stay at the Sahara! So pretty with retro vibes and scenery. Not too crowded. Clean! Good food! Your suite is SWEET! Lol. I gotta win a trip. Too far away here in South Carolina! Thanks for the tour Jordan!!!
I was just in Vegas this past weekend too. Stayed at The Flamingo, still has old memorabilia there too. They also had a big picture on the strip in Memory of Tony Bennett.
Another excellent video, Jordan! I'll check it out when I make my way from L.A. to Vegas in October for TwitchCon. I remember the old Sahara Hotel, then it's brief run as SLS, and I was happy to hear that it bears the original Sahara name once again.
😮 WOW ! 😮 I stayed there around 2006 before they remodelled. It had a bit of the 50's, 60's feel to it. But it was Nice ! The room package included a Show. The SHINTAS were there, Hilarious show. Nice to see one of the original names still on the strip. They did a Beautiful Remodel !!
That's one of the things I love about Vegas: there's always something fresh and new, but history isn't forgotten. I have a lot of happy memories form trips there, and your video is bringing back really good feelings. Love Don Rickles being on the small stage, gettin' no respect as usual!
WOW - so beautiful! Love all the history ... I recently watched a fantastic vlog about The Rat Pack - Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Jerry Lewis, Peter Lawford & Joey Bishop. *It showed up on my feed after watching a vlog by Daze with Jordan the Lion. My question is - with so many late great old Hollywood stars - Do they haunt the place? lol ;)
Yes!!! Love the Sahara!! The photo of Louis Prima is fantastic. The dark haired lady on stage with him is my namesake, Keely Smith. As hard as it might be to believe that my first name isn't Tinkles. Heh. Have a great weekend, Jordan!
The Sahara was, is and always will be my favorite casino and the only one i can relax in. BTW, that's Tommy Smothers in the photo with George Burns. He and his brother were a big comedy act in the old days. Also, with Louis Prima the woman in the background is his then wife Keely Smith, jazz singer.
Great video! Stayed there this past Mother's Day. It was a great visit! BTW: The gentleman in the picture on the left is actually one of The Smother's Brothers, not an employee. In the 60's and 70's , the brother duo were comedians.
RIP Tony Bennett 😢 My mother got to see him perform at Greeley Colorado Civic Centers 10th anniversary. She was an usher. He showed some of his paintings. So I got a signed lithograph of south of France. He signed with his whole name.
I don’t ever remember going into the Sahara when I lived in Vegas. I might have gone on the Speed roller coaster but I’m not sure if I did or not. I just remember looking at the old Sahara sign on top of the roof that had the time and temperature. That was our clock when we had season passes to the Wet N Wild next door.
Next trip we may have to stay at the Sahara! We like the old Vegas vibe too! Route 66 and Vegas Vlogs have been great! RIP Tony Bennett, we saw him in concert about 10 years ago in Orlando and he was great! Thanks Jordan!
Tony Bennett was on my bucket list; and was lucky to see his show! Heartfelt condolences to family!! 🙏 Fun video!! Enjoyed seeing the photos and casino!! Those were the greats!! They can’t be replaced!! Safe trip Katie!!
I love the the way The Sahara has managed a look of Modern combined with Old Hollywood... elegant & classy! If I would travel to Las Vegas, I would stay there!!! Thank you, Jordan! I enjoyed seeing all the old photographs, I would spend hours just walking around looking at them all!!! Tony Bennett🌹
Very nice clean hotel indeed. Thanks to you showing us around, I would stay there! The irony that Tony Bennett left us today and there's a picture of him, funny how life works he was Last of the greats!
Welcome to Las Vegas!! I’m a 4th generation Nevadan. So I know a lot about this city. For a cool vibe, walk down the street to the Peppermill. You won’t regret it. One day you should do a bid on Casino and it’s locations. In the beginning when Robert Deniro gets blown up, that actually took place down the street from you on east Sahara, at the time, it was a Tony Roma’s ( most people don’t know who that was, it was a big rub chain) and enjoy your stay.
Thank you so much for posting tomorrow July 22nd well be my wedding anniversary we stayed at the Sahara 1989 they were so good to us love seeing how it looks now thank you again
Beautiful hotel and room! I miss going to Vegas. I used to go at least twice a year with my friend Kyle but he passed away back in 1998 and I've never been back since. Kyle was my travel buddy. 😔
The Sahara looks beautiful. So glad they kept the Vegas history in the theme of the resort. So glad Katie will be with you soon. 💕 Wonder what she will think of the window in the shower...LOL. Have fun! Your next reunion has to be with Jah... is this the longest you've been away from him? You'll definitely have to record that for sure. We miss seeing him & his love for you. Enjoy your stay. Thank you too for the picture of Tony Bennett. 🎶
Gosh, Tony and I used to stay at the Sahara all the time when we first got married back in the 80s and off to the south west of the entrance. They used to have these really cool bungalows and you could get the bungalows for like $25 a night and it was so fun and so cool we will definitely go check this out again when we’re down there next month and because of your punk rock museum blog we’re going to check that out to when we’re down there so thank you.💕 and PS that lasagna did look amazing and I have been craving it ever since I watched your Vlog last night. I’m thinking I’m gonna make it for dinner tomorrow.😂😂
Hello Jordan, there was an article in the local paper here in Santa Fe (Santa Fe New Mexican). Its about the daughter of Flying Burrito Brothers Chris Ethridge and how she found his stolen Nudie suit and now it's with the other suits the bandmates wore.
At the old Sahara the had a picture that was labeled Rory Calhoun poolside.I went to the desk to tell them it was in fact Dale Robertson. Not sure if they corrected it.
Hi Jordan I had to laugh when you were looking at the photos and you said the guy standing with George Burns , carol Channing and Robert Goulet must work there. That is Tom Smothers from the Smothers Brothers Show. Him and his Brother Duck were very popular. Tom has decided to come out of retirement and go back in the road.
Rip Tony Bennett
Rip ❤😢
Yeah some timing with that photo ❤
😢 , he was a great singer and legend
So sad, I'm a big fan of Tony's. I knew he had Alzheimer's, but still his loss hits hard.
Rest In Peace,Tony🌹
I was just going to mention that Tony B. died. RIP
