      Our FARM-RAISED family... who left the farm for other careers, has been meal prepping for 70+ years!
      My aunt and uncle used to take 1 Saturday a month and she'd bake pies,, cakes, cookies, bread and they filled their freezers with full meals with lots of vegetables and meat.... from appetizers to desserts.
      Uncle would help prep while Aunt cooked.... every meal was a feast so, after work, when they came home, they put the food in the oven to heat up (no microwaves back then)... then they'd shower and be refreshed by the time dinner was ready... then they had a family meal together and everyone shared in the clean up.....
      My sister-in-law (married 61 years with my brother) calls her "leftovers" PLAN OVERS.... I call mine PLAN AHEADS because I always modify the meal for the follow-ups.... so, it isn't really LEFTOVERS, It's a brand new meal with similar ingredients.
      Children learn to cook and prepare meals by participating with their parents.
      Both of my children had specialty foods they prepared, all alone, by the time they were 8 years old... and they both, 1 girl, 1 boy are terrific cooks today.. in their late 50s.... and they've both taught their kids how to cook.....
      With all of the new appliances meal prep and warm up are a breeze for stay at home families or families who work 50+ hours a week.... taking that 1 day a month to chop, slice, dice and cook, or store ready-to-cook meals, takes so much pressure OFF OF DAILY MEALS!!
      It's also possible to save a
      whole lot of money by prepping several meals at a time.
      You are able to buy a bunch of broccoli or whatever veggies, meat, fruit is on sale.... and put together those meals that can be eaten 6 -10 months from now when those veggies and fruit are hard to find.
      Enjoy your meals and your family time together!!

    works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside ruclips.net/user/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again.This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

    I’m not a huge fan of chunks of onion, but if I use onion powder I usually end up using too much to compensate for the fresh onion. Finally I found a great way to get the fresh onion taste without getting chunks of onions. I buy diced onion in the freezer section of the grocery store, I let it thaw out and then cut one end off the bag. I then stick my immersion blender in the bag and purée the onion! The leftover liquid from thawing helps mash it into a great purée. I use whatever I need for the recipe and then I put the remainder into an ice cube tray. After it refreezes, I just throw the onion “cubes” back into the original bag or a ziplock bag and store it in the freezer. It’s easier to use and if you’re like me and won’t use onion unless it really “makes” the dish, this saves waste! Like the beef stew recipe, I think onion makes the dish, so I use the purée! Voila!! Hope this little hint helps other onion “haters”, for me, it was the consistency, not the flavor that I disliked.🤗

      @brittanycrane3647 2 года назад +1

      🤯 thanks for this tip I’ll definitely be using this!! About how many ice cubes would be equivalent for one medium onion?

    • @FlowerGemsGirl
      @FlowerGemsGirl 2 года назад

      @@brittanycrane3647 when a recipe calls for 1 onion, I use 1-3 ice cubes. But sometimes I use different ice cube trays, some have a deeper well than others. I try to use the trays with a silicone bottom to make it easier to get out. I remove them all from the trays and store the cubes in a ziplock freezer bag. I have sometimes had to purée fresh onions (I use a food processor) cause the store was out of frozen prediced onions. It saves money but takes more time. Plus, I’m single so I don’t make a lot of food.

      You can also buy that pureed onion in little tubes in the produce section, near where they have the squeezable Ginger. But, that can be really expensive. I like your method. Very cheap to be able to do so much at once.

      I do this, too! I use my tiny food processor with fresh onion and add a bit of whatever sauce (water, broth, salsa, etc) that goes in to make the the chunks really small. Onion haters never notice 😊

I feel like when I watch other people and their recipes it's just all too expensive and too boujee for simple week day dinners. Me and my husband are also empty nesters. I got tired of throwing away remainder of meals that didnt get eaten. So I started freezing in smaller batches. Basically 1 ...maybe 2 meals worth. And it has dramatically cut down on lost food. I use a small crock pot when I cook my crock pot dinners. And sometumes I even refreeze the cooked foods. Which is fine because once you cook meat...ot can be refroze.

    FYI. Light soy sauce has nothing to do with salt. The regular soy sauce most people buy or get at a chinese restaurant is all Light Soy Sauce. This is to differentiate it from Dark Soy Sauce, that provides a completely different umami flavor that is sweeter and much darker. Low Sodium Soy Sauce is something completely different from Light or Dark.
    I love all your recipes. It would be nice if you could package an index card version of them as some people (me) prefer index cards (4x6) to a cook book. I wouldn't buy a cookbook, but I'd buy the same recipes in an index card pack.

    I’m going out of town for a month to be with my daughter while she gives birth to her first child (yay for grand babies) I’m leaving my husband and our three boys ..I’ve been stressing about what to do for dinner while I’m gone; I like to make things as easy as possible for my husband but really it’s my need to be in control. Ha! Anyway, I’m so glad I came across your videos. Meal prep for the month is done and my mens will have all kinds of yummy foods to choose from. Thank You!

    We make the Country-Style Pork Ribs (swapping the regular bbq sauce with G. Hughes BBQ Sauce and use Swerve Brown Sugar replacement) to make it Keto- friendly. It is so Good!!! We like to grill them 😊

      I always use leftovers for his lunch box! I’ll package up leftovers and freeze those and pull them out a couple at a time, better than constantly eating sandwiches and a lot less waste! I still shop and cook for my family of 6 even though now we’re only a family of 2

    The bear claws are a game changer for shredding meat. Careful though when you are first using them, they can bite :) They were one of those kitchen gadgets I wasn't sure about, but glad I bought.

    Hello, Since finding your 6 sisters' stuff channel on youtube I've said "WOW" I love it, Yes I'm a new subby. I also decided to purchase a set of snap lock bag holders for preparing freezer meals on my own, as I do love to prepare a stress free meal plan ahead of time. My hubby and I are majority pure vegan meal eaters and have been for over 12 months now, because I found the vegan meal life style is the only way I have been able to loose weight and keep it off, and I/we have been feeling so much better for it, we have more energy and bounce in our every day; though I do cook a lean chicken breast meal on the odd occasions we have a dinner guest over. So please I would love to see you come up with more vegan recipes to, for slow cooker, fresh or frozen meals would be AWESOME. I would really appreciate a response if you could please, Thankyou so much for sharing, have a nice day. My meal prep bag holders have just arrived, so off to the kitchen I go.

    Hi Sisters! Thank you for all you do for your RUclips community!
    I usually have to halve recipes if they are 6-8 servings ( I can only eat so many leftovers). How will that affect cook times on the recipes?

    • @SixSistersStuff
      @SixSistersStuff  3 года назад +6

      Cook time should stay the same when cutting a recipe in half.

    My hubs drives a semi and is gone 5 days at a time. His truck has a fridge and microwave and loves to take homemade food to eat. So I’ve got Swedish meatballs in the IP right now and didn’t have steak sauce! I used teriyaki sauce instead and hoping it isn’t ruined. We buy A1 in bulk so I don’t know why we don’t have any on hand. So added to my grocery list. I did have fresh mushrooms though, go figure lol.

    Instrad of red pepper flakes use fresh shredded GINGER. It add a small amount of heat but not as hot as red peppers. Also I would add chipped peppers and maybe a cup of pineapple juice
