Out of curiosity; why didn't you use 4 mallets on the xylophone? Is it not possible?

it is possible (although harder on the xylophone because the bars are smaller). I didn't use them here because I only needed two for what I wanted to play

I think this video demonstrates the difference in sound of the xylophone and marimba well. The marimba gets its sound from its wider bars in the lower notes + resonator tubes and the xylophone has narrow bars throughout and no resonating tubes

Good observation! A normal xylophone actually does have resonators, however. This xylophone that I have is called a pit xylophone and is more compact. But you’re right that marimba bars are wider than xylophone bars and the range goes lower than xylophone.
