Nikon never paid RED for a patent. Nikon used TicoRAW for its internal compression and RED tried to sue Nikon, and it didn't pan out in RED's favor.

lol just read about this on Canon Rumors. Completely unexpected but I think you’re absolutely right. Nikon was done paying Red and just bought them outright😮 I do really wonder if this will affect the RF mount on future Red cameras more than anything. I can’t see why it wouldn’t. Side note…the latest firmware on my RKX does put the eject and format button on opposite sides of the menu.

The flange distance on Z mount is the closest so I know there are Sony E mount to Nikon Z mount, so maybe there could be an RF to Z adapter someday! Haha
And thank goodness they moved the Eject button away from the Format button! DSMC2 had me sweating bullets every time I had to run a RED! 🥵

Saw you had a new video because of your post and HAD to see the context of the quote - was not disappointed. I feel very similar myself haha, the agro names are offputting!

How do you know that Nikon was paying RED for using N-Raw?

Scott is the expert and lays it out in his video: ruclips.net/video/LpBbXOCAlmo/видео.html

@@kylelowe An expert worth listening to would avoid saying, "You're wrong, I'm not going to tell you why, and don't try to argue with me about it." I watched his video twice and had commented on it before your response to me here.
