I have a 2013 with the 2.5 and a 5-speed manual and only 39,000 miles. Just such an awesome car, I store it every winter. A blast to drive and I can average 29pmg city and 37mpg highway.
I am looking at the Passat B7 as my next car. Currently on my 5th manual VW, but might want the Passat to be automatic. Is the manual that much better than the automatic? I was thinking it’s time to grow up and get an automatic. 😅😂
@@workingmanaudio2754 can’t say if it’s that much better, as I’ve only driven a manual Passat. All I know if I’ve never had an issue with any one of my manuals and all of my autos have some kind of symptom. Manuals for life!
i have a 13 2.5 se with 97k miles, and damaged it with road debris and had to pay $5k to fix it this month…but i love my car and it’s worth it. responsive steering, easy engine to work on myself, nice sounding engine, amazing power, no turbo 😍 and all stock except tint. i try to take really good care of it. wax it once or twice a year. i keep looking at new cars and i can’t justify switching. all my friends think it’s sweet. like he said the brakes are great, i do them myself, and gas pedal on the floor is fun. analog clock might be my favorite classy feature. also has a 6 cd changer for my oldies but goodies. i would absolutely recommend this car to anyone. i had a jetta with the same engine but got in a wreck years ago. i really love my car.
The Passat ditched the 2.5 in 2014 for a 1.8 turbo. Both were base motors. The Jetta mk6 ditched the 2.5 in 2014 for the 1.8 turbo. Base model was a 2.0 8valve. The 2.0 8valve was replaced in 2015 with a 1.4 turbo.
Its built for tall people very spacious. Watch out for the ignition switch that goes out after 100,000 miles and gets stuck. If it starts to het hard to turn the ignition get replaced or you can get standard in a parking lot.
This may be late for a response, but Im getting this exact car in black tomorrow and is there anything I should know before I start driving it that you didn't mention in the video?
@@amberh7098 car is reliable and very fun to drive, but you just got to keep up with maintenance because issues can happen but they aren’t expensive if you get to them early. Also it’s better than I thought on gas, I’d recommend it for sure but it depends what you’re looking for. (It also comes with so many useful features that aren’t on much other cars)
@@imsnowyy6145 Fellow NMS Passat driver here. I agree. Good car with decent reliability. I’m not understating your knowledge. Just some personal tips and shits from me since I’ve had mine for four years: •Suspension is the weakest point. Around 55,000 miles, it’ll start to wear and you’ll feel it, particularly the bushings. It’s either me or VWs and Audis tend to have suspensions that prematurely wear. Front struts are known to creek in colder weather after a period of time. •I recommend VCDS with a HEX cable to complement. You can enable cool stuff like comfort access with the remote and you’ll be able to roll down and up the windows as well as program the instrument cluster to calibrate when you turn the car on. Not all of the VCDS options will work depending on the trim level and model, BUT it’s an insanely useful tool. You can also see the specifications of the transmission and engine. •BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WITH AFTERMARKET WHEELS. Even with a good road force balance, tires and the right hub centric rings, you still might experience shaking at highway speeds. VWs/Audis are some finicky mfs when it comes to wheels. Someone will probably beg to differ on that. From my experience, in the event you have to get a new set of wheels, stick with factory. •Lastly, I’m glad you’re enjoying your Passat, so continue to do so. Again, I’m not understating your knowledge. Just some personal advice based on my experience. Other than the stupid and weird crap that’s rooted in VWs, the Passat is a solid sedan. Both the 2.5 and the 3rd Gen 1.8T engines are great along with the 6 speed Aisin. I respect the DSG but the Aisin is the more reliable choice. And once again, someone will probably dispute me on that too and pull the “aNy cAr CaN bE ReLiabLe” card.
Would you rather buy a 2013 VW 2.5L 5 cylinder automatic transmission passat w 73,000 miles it for 11k or a 2007 VW 2.5L 5 cylinder rabbit automatic transmission with 20,000 miles for 6k?
I have a 2013 2.5 S w 65k love it. Super light weight transmission is the smoothest I’ve ever driven. Engine is very quiet when idle like a hybrid and growls so well when on the gas.
We have a 2012 Passat SE with the 2.5 and I love it
Love the SEL models. VW did a really nice job with the wood trim. Helps the interior a lot.
I love this thing just because of how weird it is. A 5 cylinder in a mainstream family sedan.
Exactly!!
In romania is seen as a premium car
It’s not uncommon on Volvos, most of them fall into the premium category.

Hint of v10? I doubt that
It’s half a V10
Sounds good and all but it’s slow as hell
No wdym the sport mode is fantastic
Its pretty quick gets up to 120+ easy
Our 5 cylinder passat hits 100+ like it's nothing 34,000 miles.
lol I’ll leave you in my 3.6 vr6
sadly they stopped putting effort into designing these... naturally, the new passats are ugly and nobody wants them
Agreed. I luv my 2013 2.5
Overall is that boring familiy car now cause is VW (people's car)
