    I agree, the talent is huge this year, with so many returning gymnasts and incredibly talented fresh faces. The trials are going to be a bloodbath.

    Nastia needs to be on that team especially for the uneven bars! And of course supportive leadership to help Jordyn Wieber (the rock) and Aly Raisman lead this young team to GOLD! I also hope we have another all-around GOLD for 2012!

    Awesome I hope to watch her on tv this summer! It's my dream to one day watch the Olympics live though :)

    It sucks that she didn't qualify. You can tell that she really loves this sport, and had she taken this leap of faith a year earlier and spent more time preparing, I think she would have made it. She is still a superstar and I totally respect her love for the sport.

    I saw Nastia perform at the Philadelphia Trials in 2008. She was awesome then (at at the Beijing Olympics of course). :)
    I really hope she makes it to London!!

    @fantastischfish That's not a stupid question! Yes, Nastia's dad Valeri does coach Rebecca Bross at Woga, and he has continued to coach both of them. It is a little strange, as (unless Bross gets an AA spot) they might be competing for the same position. They've been training together for so long, though - and Valeri so obviously cares about Becca's progress - that I doubt it's causing any problems. And no, there's no recent *full* footage of Nastia, as she hasn't competed yet.

    Agreed.
    Waited WAY too long to start getting serious about this run for London.

    My team for the London's Olympics 2012: Jordyn Wieber, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, Nastia Liukin, and Shawn Johnson.
    Alternates:
    Rebecca Bross(not to full strength b/c she's injured maybe have it go in Rio 2016)
    Alicia Sacramone (b/c she's also injured besides she already helped this previous young team won Gold in Tokyo)
    Gaby Douglas (Rio 2016)
    Sabrina Vega (Rio 2016)
    Katelyn Ohashi (Rio 2016) All-Around

    People need to realize the only reason she's making a comeback is because she knows that once a new Olympic Champ is crowned, the spotlight will be off her. If she makes that team and wins the Bars title she lost in 08, the media will be all over her. Why else do you think she took this long to decide if she was making a comeback.

  • @xoxPatriots83ily
    @xoxPatriots83ily 12 лет назад

    @johannelovesgossip Seems like a good idea. Nastia is coached by her dad and she is the reigning Olympic AA champion and then Chelsea Memmel is coached by her dad and she is a world and Olympic champion.

    She says "she didn't know who she was anymore" when she quit gymnastics. I think this is the biggest problem with elite gymnastics and it's sad... she can't always be an elite gymnast, but it's all she's ever known. How will she (and other elite gymnasts for that matter) adjust when she quits for good? They haven't ever known anything BUT gymnastics.

  • @1Timoteo41
    @1Timoteo41 12 лет назад

    @xGoodbyeLullabyx HI, that would be a great team, BUT did you hear 2:10 a new rule, 5 gymnast instead of 6. That means that the team will have only 5 members,not 6 anymore or 7 like in 1996 Olympics!

  • @fantastischfish
    @fantastischfish 12 лет назад

    @laughandlove2 Thanks for that! Isn't it a bit unusual to have not competed yet? The Olympic are only a few months away, surely Nastia should be pretty close to full fitness by now if she's intending to contest for gold?

  • @laughandlove2
    @laughandlove2  13 лет назад

    @kickingitgymstyle I totally agree. It's awesome that the field is so deep, but I'm kind of dreading the selection because it's guaranteed that some amazing girls are going to be left off. :(

  • @laughandlove2
    @laughandlove2  12 лет назад

    @AlexRenae2 It does put tons of pressure on the whole team, but I'm assuming a traveling alternate would be put in if someone is injured... only 4 girls would mean every score counted, and I don't think Marta would want to take that risk.

  • @fantastischfish
    @fantastischfish 12 лет назад

    Forgive me for asking a stupid question. I'm British but I'm a big fan of both Nastia and Shawn. Wasn't Nastia's father coaching Bross? Will he continue to coach both, is this even possible? From what I've seen of others competing, I think Marta would be mad not to put Nastia on the team if she's fit and ready. Are there any videos of recent competitions featuring Nastia? I think USA will do well at the Olympics....but hoping for a medal for Tweddle in London! xx

    @Huskyowner2007 I agree with your 2012 team, but I think we won't be seeing Wieber, Raisman, Maroney and Johnson on the same team. I think only 3 power athletes will make it (with Sacramone and Kyla being in the mix as well). I think the last two spots are going to be 2 strong bar workers like Nastia and Rebacca (if she recovers). :)

  • @laughandlove2
    @laughandlove2  12 лет назад

    @fantastischfish I guess there just haven't been any competitions she's been ready for. There was Worlds, but she hadn't announced her comeback yet. Pan Ams were also around that time. American Cup only had two actual "competitors", and I doubt she was willing to risk a bad showing before she had to. There are still Classics, Nationals, and Trials, all she really needs. She's also had to prove herself at camp, so Marta knows where she is. We'll just have to wait!

    @Huskyowner2007 McKayla has wonderful lines, but I'm counting her as a power gymnast because her strengths are vault and floor. I think Kyla has shown great consistency though she lacks international exprerience. 2012 will be an exciting year!

  • @Huskyowner2007
    @Huskyowner2007 12 лет назад

    @QueenieQue Do you think A-Sac will be to full strength for time of the Olympics? And Besides how old will Alicia be during the time of the Olympics? Will she be twenty four? The reasons why I like Shawn is b/c she is still fairly young for London and she's pretty solid on all four events. I'm sure she will be well fit and ready to take on the challenge. She is good at Beam. She can do a Vault of a 16.5 (Amanar), and she has a solid floor routine. She is better on Bars than Alicia is

    @GladiolusPrincess Good team but in some places I disagree with you, here is my point:
    Team USA is weak on bars and you've only put in 1 good bar worker that being Nastia, and you've put 2 very decent bar workers at alternates. The Russians and the Chinese are swingers and will have a huge advantage over team USA if USA do not put in at least 1 extra UB specialist.

  • @Huskyowner2007
    @Huskyowner2007 12 лет назад

    @Mariite123 Yeah, we need Johnson for beam or vault, or floor though and she's fairly good on bars. I don't think Maroney is a power gymnast per say. She's more of a finesse gymnast with nice body lines. But if she is good on bars then we're set but she's not. I don't think Klya will make it because she needs an up grade in all her routines. She places 2nd to Ohashi on the all-around in the 2011 Junior competition and Ohashi is younger than her with greater difficulties in all events

    @Itsjoooory Rebecca *does* really deserve it, I feel for her... it must be kind of weird in the gym, because it's likely that Nastia and Becca will end up competing for the same spot... hopefully it doesn't come to that! I hate 5-member teams. :(

  • @QueenieQue

    @Huskyowner2007 I don't know if ASac will be ready, but I've been less than impressed by SJ's comeback. Her beam is weak, since she can barely stay on it right now. Her bars would never be used for the team comp, anyway, and she hasn't gotten her Amanar back yet, so you can't vouch for that. Besides, there are stronger candidates than her on almost every apparatus. On vault, they'll use Maroney, Wieber, ASac/Raisman. She just gets pushed out.

    Sucks for these gymnasts that they can't make it to more than one Olympics usually. None of them really have a shot at phelps aka the aquaman's record of medals, but they are always fun to watch. Gonna miss Phelps too. He said there is no chance that he is going to Rio in 2016.

  • @GladiolusPrincess
    @GladiolusPrincess 12 лет назад

    @liukin95 its just my opinion but anyway i seriously dought that anyone deciding the team will do what fans say plus I wasn't thinking about events, i was just thinking about the people and nastia was the really only good bars person in USA at the olympics but i loved all the others who performed. The only person in my team that i really do want to make the team is SHAWN she is my fav gymnast :)

  • @QueenieQue
    @QueenieQue 12 лет назад

    @Huskyowner2007 I hate to say it, but if Alicia is recovered in enough time, I would rather have her on the team than Shawn. I've been a little disappointed with SJ's comeback, based on her performances both at national comps and at Pan Am's. If we had Alicia on vault, combined with Maroney and Wieber, the US would already have a HUGE advantage over the rest of the field, and ASac can do both beam and floor, too, if needed.
