Douglas is a virtual lock for the team. No way is Martha not putting her on the team, especially with the monstruous scores put on by the Russian on bars. And I disagree about her consistency. It is improving. Every meet she has been in, she has improved and solidified her status. Plus she had a great team performance at last year's Worlds.

One of Aly's friends said "we always forget that she's an Olympic gymnast." I think she misword it. I think she meant to say world gymnast, high class gymnast or Olympic hopeful. She wasn't an Olympian just yet. Happy that she is now.
The US team is going to be SO hard to make, really and trully. There are going to be some disappointed ladies. Only 5 can go ....so out of Weiber -world champ, Ross-Junior champ, Johnson-Olympic champ, Liukin - Olympic champ, Maroney - world champ, Douglas - world team champ, Raisman - world bronze, Sacramone- world champ, Bross - world silver & bronze, Sloan- world champ ...thats 10 champions not to mention the rest...GAH
I actally think that Weiber, Douglas and Raisman are locks. I think that Ross is also pretty much a lock. Which means that they could have the top vault(Douglas/Raisman/Weiber), beam (Weiber/Ross/Raisman) and floor score(Douglas/Raisman/Weiber) IMHO and could field a decent bar score (Weiber/Ross/Douglas). If there were a strong bar/beam specialist she would be a lock IMHO but Liukin seems not ready on bars. I would actually go for Price who is strong and consistent on all four events.

Sacramone Sloan and Johnson are obs not major contenders but let's not write them off until we see them. Wieber is a lock, Douglas, if she does what she's capable of in the next competitions she's a lock. I think Bross Ross Liukin and Memmel will be fightin for the spot of the UB & BB specialist (right now Kyla wins). I don't consider Maroney a lock, which is frustrating. and I think there will be a fight between Raisman and Sarah Finnegan (no matter how some may not consider Sarah a contender)

Maroney is not anymore consistent than Douglas and can only be counted on one event really. Right now Douglas outscores her on the three others... Douglas has also outscored Vega on pretty much all events and is also improving at ev ery meet. IMHO Douglas, Ross, Wieber, and Raisman are locks and make an incredible team. The only other contenders will be Maroney because of her status, Liukin if (a big if) she can regain her bar routine and Price since she could contribute on all events
Maroney should be given a spot! Douglas is not consistent, Wieber, Raisman, Maroney, Vega or Ross, and Liukin if her bars are good enough. If Maroney fixed her bars we'd be fine, but we only need two girls for the AA. Wieber and Raisman can do that and then we can have three other specialists!
