Many thanks, John. It's exactly the sort of scene that was inspired by my grandparents' farm, including times when I would help lead their cattle around county shows! You show a cow where to enter a field (or an arena at a county show), and it will use any opportunity to head straight for it; the grass is always greener on the other side!
This is a wonderful piece of work, beautifully executed. If you will forgive me for saying so, I am particularly dazzled by such a fine piece of art being created by so young an artist. The story of how you gained your skill and over what time your have grown this passion would be of great interest.
Thank you; you are far too kind though; I'm in my late 20s, so not that young all things considered. As to my background...I've had a model railway of some kind since I was very young indeed; my dad loves all things steam, hence where my passion developed from! The past 6 years have been where I've really started to take it 'seriously', and tried to teach myself new techniques. A lot of how I learn is through trial and error, but model railway forums and magazines have played a huge part in terms of both inspiration and learning - which is why I'm thankful that I'm now a regular contributor to BRM so that I can pass on these skills and pay it forward! Thanks again for the compliments, and I hope that satiates your interest.
Thank you very much for this video. It all looks excellent, even the mistakes, thank you for pointing them out so I can learn from them and not make them myself! Though I think the brook actually looks very good and in my mind looks exactly as I'd expect it to look.
Just wanted to say a quick thanks for all your lovely comments and compliments; they have not gone unnoticed! Above all, I really hope it inspires some of you to think about such a scene on your model railway, or at least gives you some ideas. As I think I said in the video, there's so much scope for interesting cameos on a farm; I feel like I've only just scratched the surface of what is possible! I will try and remember to look back at this comments section every now and then, but your best bet is to either tweet me @studiojamming or message me on RMweb. All the best, Jamie
@@SDD3204 Thank you; I feel a lot of it is down to trial and error though, so don't be afraid to experiment! A steam ploughing diorama sounds fantastic; I'd love to see that when you're done.
@@SDD3204 Oh I wasn't expecting it to be finished already; these things definitely take time! Looking forward to seeing the end result, when you're done of course!
The railway was purely to show that this could be an ideal scene on the inside corner of a model railway layout with 3rd radius set track curves. Hopefully it also shows that by running the railway on an embankment at the back, the trains can still be admired without the farm itself getting in the way too much.
Fantastic modelling, I particularly loved the scratchbuilt stile and the scene with the recalcitrant cow!

You are very talented indeed. I hope to use some of what you have shown so well for a steam ploughing diorama.

@@jamiewarne5553 Not created yet Jamie lol. Will post when done.

Very nice modelling.
Sorry, but I'm kind of missing the relevance of the railway on the diorama 🤔

Your just missing the tractor 👍🏻😀
That would've been a great idea, I don't know why it didn't even occur to me at the time!
What did you use as a base board?
The baseboard is a mix of 35mm square PSE battens for framing, and I think a 6mm ply top. The sides are 3mm hardboard. Hope that helps!
