Only a few days ago I watched Larry Puckett’s recent video on dirty, grimy greasy track (also using fine cinders as the ballast) and now with this video I have all I need to model a great little scrapyard diorama for that forgotten corner on the layout. Thanks Jenny.

Hi Jenny. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this scrapyard video. I’ve just commenced something very similar but in O scale.
I acquired a complete JLTRT BR blue Class 47 bodyshell which will form the centrepiece of the scene, and have already cut a chunk of bodyside away to enable access inside for staff. I’ve subsequently installed a Train Tech LED welding/flashing unit (powered by the DCC track feed) which will suggest hidden work going on to dismantle the body. Numerous West Hill Wagon Works items will be positioned nearby, so it should hopefully look quite interesting.
Another suggestion you might think about which I have already fitted elsewhere is this….take a piece of old Plastikard, spray it rail blue, then apply a set of spare loco numbers you may have laid around. After cutting fairly crudely around the numbers and then weathering it, you’ve got yourself a ‘flame cut’ loco number panel to be dumped on the floor or against a wall of the scrapyard, to be sold or more likely be stolen by staff to take home!😉

Hi Jenny Wonderful use of the various products and paints/washes etc and as you mentioned, a good idea to fill a small 'unused corner' of a layout, which I think we all have at some point. Maybe some of the Modelu figures propping up the tea bar and a couple of West Hill WW gas cylinders lying around could add a little more, otherwise an excellent diorama. Thanks

Excellent diorama and I do like those West Hill Wagon Works items as I can see a use for a few of them.
    Cheers Kev

Is there nothing more steam era in the packs, or indeed anywhere? I'd love to find a piece of scale machinery I could plant in a corner or even use as a wagon load from an earlier era but apart from the odd useable propeller I've found nothing I could use.
