For me it was Eight listening to the tape Lucie made where he eventually started filling in his own lines she previously mimed for him, to just for a moment pretend he can still have a conversation with her.
I think McGann's acting is really great in this scene because it could be said that the Doctor plays it off nonchalantly or he doesn't care after so many companions and so many years but there's a slight anger that he holds back. It actually does hurt but he can't face another companion leaving and bottles it up, doesn't want to face it, because The Doctor is once again alone.
Hey, could you just quickly explain to me what happens to her timeline? From what I've gathered: She travels with the Eighth Doctor a lot. She then immediately goes on adventures with the Sixth Doctor, for a bit. The Sixth Doctor finds out who she is, and wiles his own memories of her, to keep the timeline in-tact. So, I'm just a bit confused, do we know what happened to Charley, afterwards, and also, from The Doctor's timeline, is this the last instant he sees Charley? Does he ever meet her again, or does he ever find out about his wiped memories?
@@carealoo744 I know it's been a while for your question to be answered but Charlie returns in ravenous 3 another 8th doctor box set and she got her own series which lasted two seasona
@@tardisglitch547 No problem; Time moves so fast, I remember leaving this comment like it was last week! :) Thank-You. Do you know if she mentions anything to The Doctor, about earlier encounters with his 6th incarnation ever?
This is how you do a goodbye not this overindulgent crap NuWho does, this was poignant and simple and the Doctor being an alien with 1000 years to his life, one who has seen companions come and go i just doesn't faze him anymore and I love the line "Everybody Leaves" it sums up who the Doctor is a man with a time machine wandering the universe and often taking on travellers with him and then when they go they go and all that's left is the Doctor and the Tardis.
I guess? This all seems like a big cope considering how melodramatic and lovey dovey the Charley arc got, and the fact that it was 100% the main blueprint for NuWho's Doctor/Companion dynamic.
For me this is one of the saddest departures for a companion and what makes it worse for me is just how nonchalant the Doctor just takes it.
"Everybody leaves..."
The saddest was Amy and Rory. I cried soooo hard when that happened

One of the most touching goodbyes from a companion and so many fans haven’t heard it.

It would be nice if The 8th Doctor meet Charlie again, at least for 1 box set. I would certainly buy it.

It's happening in Ravenous 3!
I hope: 'Chris Chibnall,' stoops this high!

And then she meets 6.
"I'm sorry, I was expecting someone else"
Wow - I've only listened to 1 Big finish with Charlie and this touches me... Good job.
this is sad 😥
Excuse me while I die
With everything going crazy and out of control, this is in a way relevant...
