BRIT POPS - Ohio State Marching Band at Wembley Stadium is OUTSTANDING. A "must see" performance.
The Ohio State Marching Band is ALL BRASS ! Their sound is incredible and yes they are playing their instrument and marching! (I'm from Ohio and huge OSU fan - can you tell!) lol I love my Buckeyes!!
Ohio State is the Best in the country!
Love your reactions to the OSU Marching band. For most of the fans that are not in the stadium to watch their performance in person. We have to watch the video just like you are. As the Broadcast station airing the game is more interested in the Sports Broadcasters, giving stats of the 1st half of the game, and then reporting on other games that are being played. I know that for me to see the half-time show, I need to wait for the school to upload the performance.
Their drum major will do a back bend until the feather on the FRONT of his helmet touches the ground
Check out their performance at Wembley. They also entertained the folks out in the streets of London. They drew a big crowd for that. So good!
I believe the students use iPad or something like that while practicing the formations. It shows them what path they are going and what they are forming. So they memorize the music and learn the formations and then they combine to two memorizing both the music and the formations.
Always impressive, these guys. Probably the ONLY reason why I would ever want to go to a football game as I find them far more interesting and entertaining than any sport 😂

You guys are not simpletons. What these bands are doing are not simple. Lots of work involved but fun work. I loved marching band in high school and enjoyed every minute of the work for a field show or competition.
Now you need to react to the OSU marching band @ NFL Wembley to see the tribute to Britain. You two will love it. I know others have wrote this but i figure if you see it enough times you will remember and react to it :)

They get half tuition grants for marching and being good players of the instruments... dedication but 50k $ a year for 20 hours a week 5 months

9/11 tribute
When they were in England at an NFL pregame, they did a performance showcasing bands from the British invasion of music to the US.
Since you asked about if there was an app for it - as a former band kid, our drill writer had a software that would basically place X's on a grid for each frame. And they'd break major frames into coordinates for each member. Those cards would have instructions for each position for that player. The main point of practice was really music and navigating from point A to point B without hitting each other. Really fascinating how the process works if you ever go down the marching band rabbit hole.
Yes all worked out on a computer modeling program first and I believe it can produce a set of instructions for each member.
Also, just like athletics, the Univ is only allowed to practice them so many hours. They have to be given time to study
Ridiculously impressive! They're very easy to spot on campus, wearing shackles set to 22½" to train their steps ⛓🤔. There are a few YT videos about software to choreograph marching bands, but only geometric patterns, like Texas A&M, nothing this complex. They must use S/W.

Three of the horn section are "Hornheads", who played for Prince on tour and on almost all his albums from about '91 to about '01. Hornhead arranger, and trombonist, Michael B Nelson is on that Thriller cover too. The horns go 'off piste' wonderfully. Watch out for the weird brass instrument during their Very Atmospheric. 'interlude'. I'd never seen anything like it.
I dont think the choir added to the performance at all and glad they dont do it very often
