I've learned quite a bit from your videos, school is great but real world experience is 100 times more valuable. keep em coming Mr L. great job. thanks.
Nice job educating the clients & keeping it simple so they can understand. Many times that is easier said than done. Value is perceived differently from one person to the next. The important part is that they see the value. I think you achieved that again on this one. One client at a time your empire grows my friend.
I think that's one of your best videos I've seen so far. you ought to hire her she's good help. Damn those pleated filters nothing but problems when they are used
+steven lavimoniere correct....if home owner wants a Air cleaner style filter that's a far better way vs a 1" filter that acts like a Air cleaner and robs system of proper air flow due to getting dirty way to fast and not get changed in a timely manner. Lmao what do I know
I notice alot of techs don't seem to like the customer watching them work. I always enjoyed it because good customer relations mean MORE money later on!!
that a good vid,, and the right answer of telling them how an ac works,,, you made a good customer for life there.... its going to be a good thing for both you and the client/customer,,, you two will be friends for life now,, you will be not just the tech they call, but will be parrt of their "family"... good ,,, no great vid,, excellent example of what a service call should be too. great job
Sounds like you are at my house! LOL I am usually the one out there bugging the repair man trying to figure out how things work. Loved the interactions!
Good customer relations! Have you had any problems with your connectors heating up and becoming loose again? I tried various ones, finally ended up only buying stainless steel ones or resorting to a lug kit! Good video Steven!
Steven, don't you just love them in expensive disconnects? I was glad to hear you tell them to use plywood and a weight instead of a tarp. I always tell the customers that know more than me when they refuse to listen to wrap it up tight so no air can get into it.
+Larry Cole i do not like these disconnects, junk ,,i always tell people the condencer needs to breath just cover the top .. if not it is like a green house and will sweet and rot away
Great video. Love to watch your channel. And your killing my with the dog. The dog loves you so mush it brings tear to my eyes. Yea I am a dog guy, had a couple but they are gone now. Work safe, and keep making good videos.Cc
Didn't catch you grabbing the required superheat number. I'm assuming you determined it was a fixed orifice since you were charging by superheat. On a fixed orifice your superheat can vary by a lot depending on your indoor wb. Going by a chart I pulled up here at home, given your outdoor ambient of 74 and your setting of ~9 superheat your indoor wb should have been 58. Now I'm not familiar with that unit and maybe it has its own charging chart, so correct me if I'm wrong there. If it's a fixed orifice it's really important that you cross check a units charging chart or your indoor wb. Ive seen guys put more in and overcharge a unit to get to 10 superheat when the conditions called for something bigger like a 16 and vice versa. Gotta be careful.
Good video, I like how you show what you are doing, when you changed the contactor and the the compressor terminal. You didn't repair the parts and then turn on the camera.
Hi love your work. I have Rheem system same type on this video. how to tell how many tons. its 2000 yr so she getting old. I was thinking about order same type of AC unit on E-Bay 4 ton 13 seer. blower good inside house. model no. RAPA-049JAZ 208-230 volts. thanks
Hi, I currently the same unit and the problem on now. I know your video is 6 years old. Just wondering if you still know what the part number of the contactor or any replacement part number or the contactor? Thank you in advance for your help.
I heard you mention the pleated filters. I have a problem with my AC. I live in Alabama. My HVAC is 1 year old. Everything was replaced in/out. Very clean, no dust buildup on coils. My condensate drain is not stopped up, and is working. I bleach the drain once per month. It seems like after the AC shuts off I hear the hissing of the fluid stabilizing in the coils and then drip drip drip. I took the filter off the intake opening and saw the dripping and puddle on floor. I have water dripping straight down from the coils onto the slab floor. The old system did not do this. Any ideas what could be causing this? I thought it was the filters I was using, and changed them to a lighter version. I was using the $20 Filtrete Allergen to stop fine particles and smoke particles. They worked great in the old system. The problem still persists with the lighter air filters. I put a pan down to catch the dripping water. Any ideas welcomed.
+dennis postek Pulling air in the intake up to the coils. I can remove filter and go inside the opening 24x24, look up and see the coils. Single story home. Slab, 1600 sq ft, 3 ton unit. The drip trough is working, but the water is also dripping down from the A coil too, after the AC shuts off. I brought the garden hose in and blew out the condensate line. Then I vacuumed the condensate line from the outside to suck out all the fluid from an "S"shaped pipe. I can see condensate draining outside when AC is running.
hey! I have a 2.5 ton Interterm HVAC A/C-Heat pump...during Cold rainy winter days the compressor unit outside makes loud hissing noises when it reverses to de ice....is this normal?
steven lavimoniere hmmmm, I've been under the impression that superheat should be between 15-20 degrees. I do only work with electrical applications though, maybe it's different with gas applications?
to get target super heat you take the indoor wet bulb and out side air temp to figure out super heat .i use a slide chart it was calling for 10 degrees on that job .
+steven lavimoniere You have a great relationship with your customers. I can tell you care about them. I know a lot of techs who would get irritated with someone out there looking over their shoulder but you embrace it. I think that's great.
Wow, do we have ac repairman like this? My guy just charged me 200 bucks to change a capacitor in 2 minutes. No lesson no talk, just asked if I wanted to do it. I checked on line and bought an exact capacitor for 19 bucks. Good bye my repairman!
its normal practice to up sell 3x the price of parts, for convenience and fast repair cause no one has time to wait to get it fixed duh, especially when its 110+ outside and 95 inside
'Knock yourself out'......to an old lady?...... Steve your too much!!!....Then you get her to haul in the garden hose?......love your videos DOCTOR Steve!!!!
I've learned quite a bit from your videos, school is great but real world experience is 100 times more valuable. keep em coming Mr L. great job. thanks.

+gravis346 she was a clean freak she said i said have at it then
I think that's one of your best videos I've seen so far. you ought to hire her she's good help. Damn those pleated filters nothing but problems when they are used
+Channel Cat Chaser you can use pleated filters if your system is sized for them twice the return grills but up my way thats not the case
+steven lavimoniere most ways not the case. buy a Air bear
air bear is a 5 " wide filter you need to have the proper filter rack for that filter
+steven lavimoniere correct....if home owner wants a Air cleaner style filter that's a far better way vs a 1" filter that acts like a Air cleaner and robs system of proper air flow due to getting dirty way to fast and not get changed in a timely manner. Lmao what do I know
Very nicely done. Just did a call today where the contactor had welded itself shut. Condenser wouldn't shut off.
Sounds like you just got a new life long customer. Great job steve.

Nice work Steve! Looks like you're connected, connected, connected again.
+Lex Vance ya i got a apple ipad now android tablets suck big time
Excellent work Steven
that condenser was quiet
+dklucas1 was running fine when i left it
I was Just commenting on how quiet it was, some units are loud when they run
it was quite it has a scroll compressor in it
How do you end up keeping that nice recovery tank? Our area in Wisconsin we exchange them for a empty
Another great video Steve.
compressors usually sound better after a good cleaning. I always like a good noticeable difference after a successful service call.

are u pushing or pulling air across ur a/c coil ... if that pan has open holes on the pan plug them ... trap ur condensate I bet it stops
+dennis postek Pulling air in the intake up to the coils. I can remove filter and go inside the opening 24x24, look up and see the coils. Single story home. +gort400 check for a trap and opening in coil pan like 3/4 ports that are not blocked off
Hey Steven Great Vids, what gauges were you using looked like a phone or tablet ?
Hey I'm in college for HVAC right now, I was wondering if you could tell me more about the manifold on your ipad
Thats a cute puppy.
+protonhead1 sure is a cute dog
great vid steveo
+copthallcooling thanks man
whats the model number for a new contactor? and what size capacitor for the compressor?
hey! I have a 2.5 ton Interterm HVAC A/C-Heat pump...during Cold rainy winter days the compressor unit outside makes loud hissing noises when it reverses to de ice....is this normal?
+Jeff Thomas yes that is normal .
Great video Steven
+Powlas Hvac i thought it was a good video . thanks for the comment
What brand wire strippers are you using here?
HI, DO YOU HINK IF I CALLED AN AC TECH THEY COULD REFILL A WINOW UNIT THAT S LOW ON R22
like all the time really good video Steve
+Carlos Raxon thanks for watching
What app are you using to take superheat and sub cooling.
eddie hvac, those ohm readings are only for 2p/24v contactors
+Wayne Hensley yes 24 volt contactors only 110 or 240 volt secondery contactors will have different readings
I had no idea that pleated filter caused ac issues..I guess cause it slows down the air flow to much....learning so much I thought I already knew lol
+John Kemp you can run pleated filter if your system was sized for them .up my way there not .
steven lavimoniere thanks, my wife has dust allergies and she makes me run the tighter filters. Our system has sufficient sized returns so I comply.
Helicopters can be a pain but they were so nice.
what app are you using on your IPad
helpful customer !
+Guy Hakverdi she was nosey for sure lol
That's why you wear gloves
Steve
Because you're the Doctor
Lol
😇❤️️😉😇
good job
+Next Generation HVAC thanks for the comment
While I agree the data looked better, I'd like to suggest verifying indoor cfm and delta-T.
Vacuum first, air , then hose. After repair.. Tell the owner to cover unit with something so the grass doesn t block the condenser.
Is that your new apprentice?
Cheers steve
+drummerdem50 its cooling fine now

+steven lavimoniere You have a great relationship with your customers. I can tell you care about them. I know a lot of techs who would get irritated with someone out there looking over their shoulder but you embrace it. I think that's great.
You can not get a proper reading if your condensers and fan blower motor is dirty -You must clean all that before diagnosing
Ha that lady wanted to help you
+Ryan Scherbluk she was ready to work lol
