Yea I agree, I was a long time Tacoma fan but last year switched over to the Frontier. The 2019's were selling for super cheap. Definitely looking into some mods for it and really like the looks of yours. Nice set up!

    • @PrestonGladd
      @PrestonGladd 4 года назад +4

I wear 5.11 because its great gear that’s comfortable. I also did 20 years in the military, and I am an avid overlander. Not sure why wearing a certain brand of clothing that is functional makes us “cliche”. There is a reason you see a lot of the same gear in overlanding, because it works. And I bet Cody would wear it to if he got a call from 5.11 offering him the gear.

Gladd Overland 🤨. Did I say there was anything wrong with it?
Like I said. It’s my preference, my opinion that I enjoy his content because his channel doesn’t feel like a clone of another channel. That his channel felt unique to me.
I also said something about Wranglers, Defenders, and Tacomas...you wanna sound off on that that too or nah?

@@PrestonGladd Of course there isn't actually an issue with wearing 5.11 or owning a Jeep or a Tacoma. I think the poster is just referencing that it's nice to see something a little different than the usual Trail Recon/Expedition Overland/Lite Brite type videos which are basically like watching a SEMA advertisement.

I just stumbled across this video. So glad I did! That rooftop tent is soooooooooo cool. I want one now. I just traded my 2012 Frontier SV KC for a 2020 SV CC. Ive never had a 4x4 Frontier and Ive never got stuck....yet (knowing your limits helps too). The 2012 had about 450,000 miles and only had to replace a radiator hose and tires/brakes in all that time.. NO OTHER ISSUES EVER!!! Im just a weekend warrior, not planning on living off the grid permanently in my truck. Thats what a sailboat is for. But the mighty Frontier is perfect for off grid for a long weekend. My girl and I have camped out on the beach and swamps of GA and FL many a time in the '12. Once we, and some of our other weekend warriors friends, claimed one of the tiny keys in FL and lived on the beach for 5 days. We even had a wild turtle join the party. We named him Herman, he loved pineapple chunks and sliced pears. Life Is Good. Btw, yall earned a new subscriber with this video. Rock On!

love the setup, simple and cheap but efective. Just one advise about the power station: you said that it can power the fridge but that it runs out of energie after 4 hours. This means that a power of 200 W is sufficient, the problem is that the batteries dont store a sufficient amount of energy. Upgrading to a 500W unit will only help if the batteries of the 500W unit are bigger. (power, in watts, is the amount of energy that the unit can discharge per second and not the total amount of energy that the unit can store). If you find a 200W unit with a bigger battery it should solve your problem. stay safe

Really loved the bin life section. Still living that life. We built a sleeping platform in the bed of my wife's truck so the bins could go underneath and room for more gear or sleeping on top. Cool idea for a shower. For your sink, have you considered the boy scout 3 tub method? For just 2 of you, 3 small wash tubs would work well.
For your kitchen, I use a tool bag. Big stuff like nesting pots, cutting boards, plates go on the inside.
Other utensils and stuff I need while cooking go on the outside pockets. I can send a picture if you like. Since you use buckets, they also make pockets (to hold tools) that fit around the outside edge of the bucket. Look in your hardware store and you will see what I am talking about. Then you can put your big stuff in the bucket and your tool around the outside.
Thanks for the gear suggestions. I like the way you work as a team. You are blessed to have each other.

Perfect set up, I remember when I started overlanding my setup was like yours: less complicated, now little by little I’m getting rid of a lot of unnecessary gear, keep it this simple and get out there. My advise is don’t fall too much for those other RUclips channels promoting expensive unnecessary gear, that makes you think you need to have it to belong.

Nice setup y'all👍 I've got a 2008 4X4 SE crew cab long bed Frontier with 320,000 miles on it now so I'd say ya got yourself a reliable adventure rig for sure. Little tip that might help your fridge situation. You can take your tailgate loose by opening it around 45 degrees and pulling it out of its pivot on one side which would let ya run the 12v plug between the tailgate and the bed. This would allow the wire to be out of the way and let ya open and shut your tailgate without having to disconnect your fridge every time and allow ya to tuck the wire out of the way so it's not hanging out of your topper window while driving.

Just bought a 2017 frontier crew SV. Super excited to add some of the features you guys have along with the hard cover tent! Loove the tent setup. Thanks for the the informative video! Cheers.

Ah nice, I love frontiers. I had an old 2wD frontier that took me a lot of places. Did trade it in for 4x4 Tacoma but you can’t go wrong with a frontier. Simple workhorse of a truck.

This is an awesome video! You guys are very budget friendly “overlanding”. It’s awesome seeing real people with items that work for them vice your sponsored/RUclips “overlander” with thousands of dollars worth of gear they will never use.

Awesome video I have learned by shutting off the freezer will have your external battery last longer, also the tailgate comes off and you could run the cord to the refrigerator under the tailgate and reinstall the tailgate to not make it as noticeable as always keep up the great content

Thanks David. We actually did start running it under the tailgate which made it a lot better!

The aero press is awesome... Y'all should check out the American press. No filters needed. Works kinda like a French press with less clean up... Love the vids!

Check out the kuat bike rack swing arm, keep the bikes on the rack and get the whole thing out of the way of the tailgate.

Hello, very nice set-up and camping advice as well. For what it's worth...... Air-Lift overload air bags. These things work great with my factory stock Jeep JKU and my camping load. No harsh ride, adjustable pressure and leveled the ride height. Easy install too, just saying............G

Looks good! You showed your kitchen sink, and I thought - "That's what we use, but we've got two..." and then you said you might get another 😂 I highly recommend a second one - it makes the wash/rinse process much easier!
Oh, and we love our aeropress, too. We use it the same way (upside down), but we found a metal, reusable filter so we don't have to carry the paper ones.

Just found your channel. I really dig the simplicity of your setup. Props on the Frontier!!
I love my Wrangler, but have been seriously debating going back to a truck, because I miss having a truck, and you guessed it, I had a 2000 Frontier xe... it was only 2wd, but I put that thing places that could/ should have had 4wd..
Was thinking about a Ranger, but after seeing you guys, definitely going to check into another Frontier.
Can't wait to see more of your channel.

I happened across this video and I like your setup and how you’ve made and added things to make your trips more comfortable. Being a Nissan owner and having a LEER as well I am a bit biased 😉. I have created a few videos you may like regarding additions to my Nissan that you may like to carry fuel, water and recovery boards. I’m going to have to check that fridge unit out. Looks interesting. Thanks for the video!

Man your are going stir crazy when I tell you how much I paid for my Truck Tent. I got the Napier Sportz Tent 57 Series and an air mattress for the floor. The cost for tent was $280.00 and Mattress was 120.00 for total $400.00. My tent and mattress folds neatly into a duffel bag and locked up in cab.
