I truly stand by saying the end of Chapter 5 to the beginning of Chapter 6 is the best series of video game cutscenes of all time. Truly a fucking masterclass in music, framing, choreography, everything in between.
As a father of 3 sons, when I saw your interaction with your son I subscribed; it was so wholesome. Then I thought when you would get to this part, it might rock things for you as well. Can’t wait for you to get to the DLC. Gives more insight to a lot of parts of the base game
Man, Shania terrifies me. This game basically shows the different roads people can take regardless if they were once kind hearted or not (so Shania and N), the difference between Shania and Sena is that one never gave up, while the other did and allowed self comparison to devolve into ill-willed jealousy (basically forgetting about what you’re capable of and hyperfixating on what you don’t have)
This game is masterful at letting every character have their own distinct worldview. It's legitimately terrifying when you realize EVERY Mobius is someone who has given up. Mobius IS nihilism.
I think it’s more that Sena just got lucky. Ghondor’s not a bad person, but the circumstances of her position clearly made it difficult for her to communicate on a more platonic level when necessary, and the rest of Shania’s support base was dead. Meanwhile Sena had Mio and Miyabi, and her talent actually helped her in the role she was forced into, even if she was insecure about it.
That shot of the sword while Noah saying he's not good at naming things, to call back to the fact that he re-named lucky 7 to something he misses- and both names are never uttered
My boys were a similar age to your boy at the time I played this game, so I had an almost identical reaction to that scene. It hurts to even think about being in a situation like that as a parent. Much love, Dee
At the time you took a break from Xenoblade, I lamented that you chose not to experience a masterpiece. Here we are, years later, and I couldn't have been happier with your decision to wait. Your experience with this game is now more special than it otherwise would have been. It's as though the game came to you exactly when it would hit you hardest, as it did for me when I played it on release. It's funny how time works sometimes.
The more you learn about the main cast, the more you realize that each Ouroboros pair are perfect complements of each other. Embodiments of each other's animus/anima
The reason Nia didn't die is because she's a blade, blades don't have hearts, they live as long as the core crystal exists, but D didn't know this, so he aimed for the heart and not the core. This compounds the first scene in which he first appears when he shoots Guernica in the middle of the chest, he also didn't die immediately because D missed his heart, D was actually trying to correct this mistake but luckily Nia is a blade and not a human, so he inadvertedly made another mistake.
I don't think that's the sole reason since she's a flesh eater. It's more because of her healing abilities. She literally revived Emperor Niall in XC2.
once you realize they been doing this for thousands of years meanwhile they call it "the eternal now" is another spectrum of understanding of life and death and tragedy, another thing that is heartbreaking as a parent is to leave your child alone helpless, hopeless in a world that will not have a little bit of mercy for him/her but is happening in our real world sadly.
Been looking for a new playthrough to watch and here I find a fellow Irish lad. Really enjoyed all the parts up to here and looking forward to part 7. I enjoy that you know when not to talk over the story, shows you actually appreciate it.
I love whenever a game has a sequence that you can point at and say "THAT moment" Moments that just leave you speechless. And man, the ending of chapter 5 and the beggining of 6 are just... Wow. It's, like, what, over 2 hours of cutscenes and barely any gameplay, but they are so gripping and impactful because you got attached to those characters so much. Heck, I remember actually feeling guilty when playing Xenoblade 3 and I messed around with side content because I was afraid of Mio's time runing out. Looking back on it, it's silly, but at the time I just felt so bad whenever a day passed in game and I kept doing side content instead of progressing through the main story because of Mio. That's how much I loved her.
Fun fact if you didn't notice, the song playing in the Cloudkeep is a rendition of Drifting Souls from XC2. That song with vocals that plays during emotional beats.
1:00:06 That moment (hair cutting). I knew fully well I prefer the long hair. But soft little me got so drawn in that I was like "BUT SHE DOESN'T LIKE IT, I CAN'T FORCE IT ON HER!" and so I chose the short hair version, despite clearly preferring otherwise. (and then reloaded the save before hand to have another, alternative savegame where I kept it long. Just to... look at it every now and then)
This game is so exhausting... To be fair, I did finish the game with a pure "finish it already". All of the side stories and these moments with main story where named characters just die, be killed or anything... It was emotionally exhausting so that I couldn't continue at some point and just wanted to finish the game and know the ending, which also was... emotional. This is a precious albeit sad story that truly makes the player feel.
I've played a couple video game before this that broke me like this, but this is the first time, i feel like it really wanted to push me down for over a hour, lol
There's plenty of games that show you the love a parent has for their child, but no game hit me like xenoblade 3 with its relationships, be friendships, romantic relationships or parent child relationships, we just have so much time to see ouroboros grow and especially mio ane noah's romance grow and seeing just one cycle shows you how many times their love persisted, seeing them fail and succeed in love, in building a family and eventually being forced to separate by the endless now machinations, it's just a real tear jerker and this applies to prime noah and N, both go through the same emotions in these scenes But N especially, failling over and over again in his mission, plagued by his past failures decides to convince mio to abandon their mission to live a fullfilling life, they manage it and die peacefully, but that results in them being booted out of the cycle, Z decides to pull N aside and convince him to become mobius in exchange for the only thing he truly wanted, his mio, which created M, but M slowly loses her love for N due to his cynicism and due to him becoming moebius I'm sure you will play future redeemed after finishing the main story and wothout spoiling anything, the game's story does dive into some questions that will be anaswered by the end of the game, so don't worry if some things seem unfinished, because future redeem ties most thing in a nice pretty bow
Im not sure if its the best to admit it, but the part that really messed me up was Shania's death. Up to that point I was really annoyed with her character as she clearly antagonized everyone around her, but the moment she admitted to wanting to die and be reborn into the system, I started to get how she felt, in the worst kind of way. At the lowest of lows, there's a point where you just feel like you just don't belong anywhere, and to get to the point where you just want it all to end its just...well that part personally messed me up.
@pikespeakaudio8898 I can understand that much, but Side Story Mio and Side Story Noah are pretty crucial to the story overall, as the deuteragonists. Just feels a bit wrong to exclude them just because of that.
The thing about this game is that when I was finished, it felt like I watched an anime movie, but it felt like the actual gameplay was an afterthought, as it was just a vehicle to tell the story. Great story, and fun world to explore, but not the best gameplay in my opinion.
@OrangeBox93 Absolutely not. There's tons of people getting into the series for the first time now. A game being old is no excuse. And 3 years isn't even that old. Fairly recent.
When Dee said being a parent made him more emotionally sensitive, we were ALL waiting for this chapter.

You can actually pinpoint the second his heart rips in half.
12:38 is my pick
I would say about here 13:14
And then also when it further shatters into a billion trillion pieces

This game was my game of the year for a reason, and it’s not just because sword robot go clink clang

She's also a miracle healing Blade back in XC2, so no surprise she could recover from even that wound.
D *in the afterlife* : OK so I think got it this ti- *sees Nia pop out* SPAAAAARRRRRRRK!!!!
Nia: Yeh missed yeh one-eyed-oh, bloody 'ell, yeh got two eyes so tha wouldn't work this time... either way, yeh missed!
I don't think that's the sole reason since she's a flesh eater. It's more because of her healing abilities. She literally revived Emperor Niall in XC2.
@@claire4710 A blade that has unmatched healing and revival abilities, who can also give people hyper cancer like damn

Indeed. Who has not wished for time to simply stop?
This and Red Dead Redemption 2 are the only games that have made me cry. So good.
Fun fact if you didn't notice, the song playing in the Cloudkeep is a rendition of Drifting Souls from XC2. That song with vocals that plays during emotional beats.
This game is masterpiece, I cried few time, it was my first xenoblade, and best ☺️ after that I play all of other games
Finished the dlc couple days ago.
Oof that thumbnail
I saw this scene again in the morning, and I cried again.. 😢😭
"my Noah"... :'(
I wish I could've record myself crying, cause man, Chapter 5 man, just tore me down...

Damn, that hits hards, I feel it man
23:21 this smile gives me new life.
It's good to keep a record..

24:01 the old switcheroo 😂
This game was absolutely robbed at the Game Awards. It really made the biases of the showrunners clear.
Peak game, finished it for the second time yesterday
Nice. Me I did it 4 times and I’m at my fifths already
Same. I even went and did all the side quests and am currently working on the trials.
@ same for me, im gonna 100% it and after than ill 100% 1,x and 2
Oh time to relive ch6 again
yep
tetsuya takahashi is a monster
but that's why we love him

What an amazing story! 😢
10:41 REVALI'S GALE IS NOW READY!!!
I was crying together with you.. i was watching your gameplay replay😭
It took N a while to fully comprehend he'd been duped
This game is the first game in my life that’s ever made me cry. Only two times has that happened. The other game? Persona 3 Reload. 😢
RUclips thinks it's funny to recommend antidepressant ads on this video.

55:30 Why did Ghondor throw that when they on the edge of a cliff?
This game is incredible, Isn’t PapaBee? 😭
We've all been waiting for the xenodad reactions

I feel your hurt bro. *Sending virtual hugs to you*
In that case, let us walk together...
I know you also skipped the colony 30 and colony tau sections, but why did you also skip colony omega? It's pretty key to the story I'd say
The sidequests are in the VODs. Even if they're unavoidable, they're not necessarily tied to the main plot
@pikespeakaudio8898 I can understand that much, but Side Story Mio and Side Story Noah are pretty crucial to the story overall, as the deuteragonists. Just feels a bit wrong to exclude them just because of that.
The reason this game didnt win a ton of awards...id say first because of release timing vs when the awards are held. And second...AAA bribery.
7:00 you're welcome
Peak

Day one of asking deebeegeek to play hollow knight
I'd change that thumbnail, it's kinda spoiler-y.
The game is nearly 3 years old. I think it's fine.
@OrangeBox93 Absolutely not. There's tons of people getting into the series for the first time now. A game being old is no excuse.
And 3 years isn't even that old. Fairly recent.
Eh it just shows Noah with a kid.
Yeah these might be the best cutscenes of all time. In any game period. Whoever says that video games aren't art hasn't seen XC3 storytelling.
This made no sense. So dumb. Not to mention that bohrok kal ripoff.
The old mio switched their bodieds and combined souls. Noah's mio is now in M's mio body.
