Its so inspiring to hear Emma's story, and to see first hand the new heights that can be achieved with the passion and enthusiasm on full display at Beta Technologies. Keep up the great work breaking those barriers, and doing it VERMONT STRONG!

This is SO exciting! Can't wait to see the Alia certified and flying. Is it possible to add detachable range extender battery packs into the baggage compartment? Also, would it help if solar panels were added to the top? It seems like there's plenty of real estate for a good number of panels on there :)

“…longest battery-electric flight in history” 2:59 umm, no, Solar Impulse flew nonstop from Japan to Hawaii in 2015. 4480 miles.

Talk about range anxiety. I noticed the pilot was wearing a parachute. What happens if, for any number of reasons, one of these planes isn't able to land even as the battery is going dead? Yes, a plane powered by a combustion engine can run out of fuel, too _ but they typically have much longer ranges, while battery range is affected by more variables: payload, cold temperatures, wind speed and direction. What's the procedure for landing one of these birds with a dead battery?

Wind speed and direction affects every aircraft regardless of energy source. Landing without power is called a forced landing and is trained for every aircraft type. He was wearing a parachute because it was a test flight.
