This incident is emblematic of systemic racism. Gymnastic Ireland should be held accountable for their mishandling of the situation. I'm typically a very composed individual who rarely gets emotional to the point of tears. However, this particular incident brought me to tears for two compelling reasons:
Firstly, it was heart-wrenching to witness the innocent girl maintain her composure and smile throughout the ordeal.
Secondly, towards the end, the innocent girl looked around and realized that everyone else had received a medal, while she had been left out.
This was not a mere oversight but a deliberate and malicious act fuelled by deep-seated racism.

Sometimes you just wonder if it's something personal; As much as I try not to be stereotypical on the subject of racism, and to narrow seeming acts of racial discrimination down to the individuals who appear culpable, this is one glaring inexcusable case that must be condemned in its entirety with possible sactions on, not just the judge, but the organizing body that staged the event as they were obviously complicit, nonchalant, and grossly insensitive to the psychological damage done to the poor girl and her parents.
PS: Watch out for the little girl folks; she'll get her own moment of undeniable glory soon, and just like now, the whole world will see it and be proud they stood for her.

I don't know - It seems like a heart-felt apology. Not sure if it is genuine but when a person apologizes, then that's all that can be taken from it. What more can a person do in this instance. So, I am waffling on whether this was outright racism, only God knows this and can be the only one to judge this judge's heart, which will happen on the lord's day, later when everyone is judged.
