Question for Dan - I love my Archies so much! The straps are perfect. Only problem is the toe-post hurts between my toes. Is there any way to make the post feel slimmer, if that makes sense? Thanis in advance!

Hey Kim, good timing, as I randomly just stumbled across this comment while looking for videos of myself on youtube. Haha, kidding, but I did just stumble across this. So, the best thing that you could do is to give it a bit of a stretch. However, this will also loosen the strap a bit, so just be mindful of that. The other option I can think of is that you could crush the toe pole down with a set of plyers. Archies foam is made from air filled bublles, kind of like air filled balloons. If you pop some of these bubbles such as with the plyers, then this could possibly help. Hopefully one of these two ideas will have the solution for you. :)

Question for Dan - I like to walk longer distances and was wondering if you’ve done any research on the performance and any risks associated with Archie’s for long exercise type walks? I’ve heard the bear foot shoe community criticize thongs because your toes have to “grab” the thong as you walk. Wearing my Archie’s tighter seems to eliminate this issue but would like your perspective. I own 2 pair of the thongs.

Hey, thanks very much for the question! One of the biggest issues with typical thongs is that you have to grip with your toes to keep them on. Normally when your feet contact the ground, your toes are supposed to bend upwards which activates the arch which then provides protection and support to the vital structures of the feet. In thongs with a loose strap, the toes claw down which means you do not get the protective support from the arch like you are supposed to. This is why Archies are designed with a tight strap, it's aimed at reducing toe clawing and it allows the arch to function normally. We don't have any studies so to speak on people walking longer distances, but we do have loads and loads of people who walk impressive distances in Archies thongs without any issue. Some people even say they get less sore in Archies Thongs on long walks than they do for the runners. However, this of course will not be the case for everyone and normally for long walks, runners will likely be the best option. As for long walks in bare feet - going barefeet sometimes is great to help strengthen the muscles of the feet, however, if you don't wear supportive footwear, I'd argue you will end up a lot sorer and suspect you might pre-maturely wear out the fat pads in your feet if doing so on a hard surface. Hope this helps, Dan

Hey, thanks for sharing! 😊 Archies Flip Flops sure do have insane durability! 💪🏽 As they are exceptionally strong, they will almost always wear out before they break. Our general advice is that with proper care, you should get one to two summers of excellent use. After the first year the lifespan depends on many factors such as frequency of use, type of use, the surface that they are commonly worn on, and product care. We hope to see you in some new Archies soon! 😍Thanks, Zoe x
