Oh man, I should have known before that there was a youtube channel for all kinds of E&M patterns. Fan here! Fun fact: in the Netherlands we would call this a jumpsuit. A romper is baby-underwear (I guess what you would call a onesie or bodysuit). And that is actually what held me back from buying this pattern for a long time. I could not get over the baby-association.
I’ve just made this. Such an amazing sew and very easy to follow this tutorial so thank you. I made mine with Bishops Sleeves for our colder South African days.
Funny story. I mey my husband on The South Shore Train. It runs from South Bend Indiana to Chicago. That was 32 years ago. Of course I will make this rompers. ( we dated for a few months and then got married, all those years ago and still in love).
Wow, I'm super excited to sew up this pattern for my cruise vacation in December, thank you for this tutorial as I learn more from watching than reading instructions. Oh the length adjustment was well understood. Thanks for sharing 😊
With help from this video I made my very first garment and it's fabulous!! (Even if I do say so myself 🤣) Thanks so much Ellie and Mac, I'm hooked on sewing xx
Hi, How much should I gather at the sides? Mine's were longer as I had to adjust the bodice by an extra 1.5 inches. Therefore, should I gather it to about half the length of the original side? Your video is fun to watch and I love it that you make mistakes. I won't beat myself up so much now.
I'm working on a couple of these and well the first one I goofed up a little cause I assumed it was gonna be WAY TOO big, tried to alter it and messed it up.. So I'm working on a second one, while I wait for some more fabric for the first one. I keep seeing "put the elastic on the pants" but you said put it on the bodice, does it matter which one you put it on? I ended up not having enough fabric, or smarts to make long pants out of the 2nd fabric so I'm meshing it with the trendsetter skirt and its sagging in the back. I'm not sure if I put the elastic on the wrong part, or did it wrong. But I would like to figure it out before my new fabric gets in the mail and for future projects! Thank you so much!
Once again SO CUTE!!! Btw I made a t-shirt dress dress out of the same fabric as the outfit you’re wearing and I love it! Yay for Joann Fabrics Red Dot clearance fabrics!
Just subscribed! Can I be added to the draw for the $50 voucher please? I have just bought the South Shore Romper pattern and started to sew today. Really looking forward to sewing this and I'm glad that there is a tutorial, very helpful. I'll let you know the outcome once I've finished. Greetings from North Yorkshire in England. xx
A couple of questions: If I did an fba, does that affect the length of the neckband? If I shorten the bodice by 1/2" does that affect the neckband? If I have graded size L to XXL at waist, does that affect the neckband? Sorry if these are silly questions.
Hi! I think this is cute but I’m busty and short. I’m afraid it won’t look good. BTW, a friend is selling a NEW Baby Lock 234 D serger like yours for $125. She used it once and never used it after that. I just got a fancy Baby Lock Aria sewing machine, so I don’t know if I need a serger, but I’m tempted. Isn’t this a good deal??!!! Thx for video!
Vicky Lambert it sure is!! And I actually think the romper would look great on you!!! There are some adjustments to be made if you are shorter but so far it looks so great on everyone!!!
I'm a new subscriber and I've just discovered Ellie and Mac patterns and ordered some. I love your videos... My first project will be this gorgeous South Shore Romper but I would need some help with the adjustments. My bodice is 9" (so 1 inch longer than the pattern) but my height is 3 inches less than the pattern (so 1.5 inch). Don't know what to do. Should I add 1 " for the bodice and substract 1.5" for the length ? Since I add 1" for the bodice, should I substract 2.5" for the length ? Thanks for your help !
Love this. Diana I want to extend the bodice with 1". I am 5.2 so I must shorten the bottoms. How much must I shorten it? I am totally confused. Please help!
Diana (or someone who has made this) I have some gorgeous 95%rayon/5%spandex. Tons of stretch. Will definitely use serger. Do you think it will be stable enough?
Hi! Been watching the video about sizing and adjustments. l am 5ft 5ins and had to add additional 2" as the length is 10" of bodice. Do l need to add leg length as l am 5ft 5ins and pattern is 5ft 4". by an 1". Am l right in thinking that the fabric is folded length wise and has no straight of grain. is there a way which the pattern needs to be layed on the fabric?
I am new to sewing and still trying to figure out one thing: do you use clear elastic when sewing knits at the shoulders? It looks like you skipped it in the video. Does it really make a difference? Thank you for any help.
I finally can work on this. I am 5'4.5" and my side lengthe is 10.5" so I lengthen the bodice 2.5' but do I shorten the pant length part? or leave it? because I have long torso and short legs I find this part a bit confusing.
I need help with the adjustments!! I have a 11" torso so would need to add 3" But I am only 5' 1" so would need to subtract 1.5" How do these measurements affect each other?
Is this pattern ok for a beginner? I know how to use my machine. I also know how to adjust already created pieces. But i havent made something from scratch since high school
@@EllieandMacPatternsLLC hello again. I bought the pattern but im having a hard time understanding the fabric requirement chart. Those measurements are in yards? So a L would use about 6 yards?
I'm afraid I'm still a little confused! I get the bodice part, but I don't understand the half inch for an inch part on the lower part. If it means I fold the pattern half an inch to get one inch less, I understand that, but you suggest cutting and overlapping or spreading. Overlapping I can see half an inch overlap = 1 inch less, but how does spreading for half an inch give you one inch longer? I'm probably being deeply dense, for which I'm sorry, but I don't want to make a mistake and waste nice material.
How do you do it if you hit three different sizes. My bust is 35 my waist is 29 and my hips are 36 so I go through like 3 sizes what size should I make?
I select only those sizes for my bust, waist, and hip when I print or project the pattern. This makes grading easier for me. My bust is a small and my waist and hip are a large. I draw down the busy just past the bust line on the small size line and then, I gradually draw out to meet the large at the waistline. I continue with the large size through my hip. This works well for me and the result is a well-fitting garment.
Making this right now for my granddaughter, love having this video!
I hope you enjoy it and she loves it.

I’ve made 2 these patterns are brilliant 🙌🧡❤️💙💜💚
I am so glad you are loving it! Thanks for watching!
What brand is your rotary cutter? I have to draw the pattern on the fabric, then cut it. This looks so effortless.

You look so cute in the romper. Are there cup sized in the patterns?
This is the vid I need!!
I forgot about this vid! Thanks for the like. (I can not see from my phone who you are though, but thank you. Will start assembling now!)
Can there be an updated one with cutting and adding length using the projector file?
I love this pattern, so cute!
Thanks so much
Hello I have just subscribed. So excited to get started
Love your videos and patterns
Thanks so much for watching

@@lkresge3276 i did the a ove and it worked for me
Do you get your fabric online or at a local store? If online, which one???
Cathy Simon I mostly buy online. This fabric came from Knitpop.com 😊
If you alter the bodice, then shouldn’t the neckband also need to be altered?
I need help with the adjustments!!
I have a 11" torso so would need to add 3"
But I am only 5' 1" so would need to subtract 1.5"
How do these measurements affect each other?

What iron do you have? I need a new iron!
what type of fabric did you use? Is it knit?
Cathy Simon yes it is! I used Double Brushed Poly (DBP)
I've been waiting for this!!!!
Hello, you said to add 9” to your romper??? Is this correct?
Love the videos
Thanks Sarah!
it does not says anywhere how much gathering is needed on the bodice's sides. could you give me more informations. thanks
Thanks!
Is this “doable” for a craft sewer?
