I’m using this pattern to make a warm fleece lined raincoat for my mom. I made it a bit longer to cover the thighs. It’s such an easily customizable pattern. Love it!
To put the cuffs on a reversible jacket I use the RUclips video DIY Sukajan jacket. Her method is very simple to use. This is how I have made over a dozen bomber jackets reversible.
That’s how I’ve done them in the past with other jackets. I like the idea of not having to sew up side seams with this one but when she overlocks the cuff at the end anyway wouldn’t it have been easier just to overlock the whole cuff on? I’m still confused by this step.
@@noth9617 I used to leave the side seam open to turn the jacket right side out. Now I leave the opening in the arm side seam. When I stitch it closed no one will ever see it, it is inside the sleeve.
Thank you for the video first time about to try this pattern, just wanted to know if there is any way I could do snaps instead of zipper. Not scared to do with zipper just don’t have one on hands right now. How would I put the snaps on if I can do it?
Thank you, so much, for your video tutorial! I have never tried to line anything before and you make it look easy, I am definitely going to try it now!
Hi. Love ,love ,love this jacket. Would you please list suggested fabric. Would like to make this in a fur fabric . Does this require stretch fabric.? I know the ribbing is for sleeve cuffs and bottom of jacket. Thank you.
Diana, I am making my adult son’s these jackets and using polar sweatshirt fleece for the outer on one and French terry on the other with Sherpa for the lining, do you have any advice for sewing with Sherpa for the lining as far as putting it together and sewing in the zipper? Is it possible to place interfacing on the Sherpa where the zipper goes, I know your not suppose to iron Sherpa so if I use a pressing cloth do you think this would work? Also, I don’t know whether to use my sewing machine and the stitch type / stitch length to use or if I should use my serger instead. Any advice would be very helpful, I’ve never made a jacket before and still fairly new to sewing as far as using different fabric types and knowing what type of stitches to use and stitch lengths but I’m trying to learn all I can. Your videos are very helpful. Thank you so much for all you do Diana and for any help you can give me on this challenge I’m doing with these jacket’s, I hope they turn out. My son is also wanting me to embroider a logo on the French terry jacket any advice there would also be helpful. Sorry for the long post. Thanks again
I really want to try this pattern, my main fabric is Fleece Backed Jersey. What would be the best fabric to line it with? Or would it be better to make it unlined? This will be the first time I insert a zip too, eek haha x
@@MamiDeee hi Dorian, I know this is an older post but did you end up making this jacket without lining? I’m currently making this jacket out of soft shell/no lining and I’m a bit stumped how to make it neat at the top of the opening where the hood doesn’t quite meet 😩
@@laurenj5538 no I didn’t! And asking questions on their Fb group is useless. They hardly approve any posts they tell you to use the search bar but the search bar did not help me. I even asked about a certain fabric, they declined my post and told me to go to FAQ post and that was again pointless bc no one in there answered my question. I’ve stopped buying from them bc I think it’s absolutely so rude for them to say “if you have any questions join our Fb group” but NO ONE EVER HELPS. Im sorry! I hope you figure it out cause i couldn’t :(
@@MamiDeee sorry to hear that. I ended up searching in the group “zip it” and there was a few posts about making it without the lining. I’m going to attempt to finish mine today and hopefully it’ll turn out. :-)

I would use a fabric with similar stretch. That way it will sew up easier.
Already subscribed but love seeing tutorials to follow along to.
I’m thinking of making it without adding sleeves to the lining. Do you think it would work? Just think it will be too warm for me with sleeves lined!
Yes, you can make it unlined, it just isn't reversible that way ❤
I love it! I started making this jacket yesterday afternoon and it's almost finished (had to go to work today :-( )
I hope you love it 😍
@@EllieandMacPatternsLLC its much easier with a sew-along! x

Does this jacket absolutely have to be lined?
Thank you for the sew along! I am a new subscriber, and I already have some of your patterns!
what fabric was used on this jacket. the black looks quilted.
Love your videos x
I subscribed. This is so fun!
Does it need to be reversible ? I’d like to make it non reversible but not sure if possible. Thank you!
you can make it non reversible as well! I know some use thicker fabric that doesn't need to be reversible.
Yay ! Thank you I really didn’t want to add lining thank you

What is the name of the pattern you just made?
Can you just do a short sleeve?
I'm still totally lost on how to attach the cuff to the liner for a reversible jacket :(
