Great choice Luke. I've recently acquired the exact 991.1 RS in GT silver with PCCB and gold wheels at the end of the summer, and the experience has been indescribable. The soul stirring acoustics from the full iPE Exhaust to just the right amount of analog sensations it provides, it truly is a dream come true. The pinnacle of perfection in my opinion. Congrats Luke! Coming from a 992 GT3, I agree that there’s something special about the 991 generation. It’s more raw, analogue but also less forgiving. I’m turning my head around the 991.2 GT3 Touring which, to me, was the pinnacle of modern Porsche engineering. Enjoy!
As someone considering a GT4RS in the near future, hearing your experience is super valuable. As auto enthusiasts I'm sure our initial ideas are something like 'well, yeah it's supposed to sound awesome, how could you have too much sound?'. I suppose reality really kicks in after the 1 hour mark on the freeway lol.
I didn’t realize how loud my car was until I went to visit my sister at the hospital. They could hear the car from the parking lot. They were on the third floor.
I drive my GT4 RS to and from Road America often and, for me, not an issue at all. It’s about 2 hours each way. If you keep in under about 5,500 RPM. It’s certainly an extreme car. That’s what I absolutely love about it. Also have Soul competition headers and race over axle & exhaust on the way. It’s a BEAST. I love driving it. And on track, it’s really tough to beat. That being said..my 911 991.2 GTS manual is a MUCH better daily. Feels like a grand tourer compared to my GT4 RS. Being a manual it’s actually more fun to and from work etc. Good luck with your decision. Can’t go wrong regardless. Porsche…there is no substitute. 🤙🏻🏁
In fact Matt, probably best 991 RS for you is being sold in December in the RM Sotheby’s White Collection auction. Paint to Sample Grand Prix White, over a Yachting Blue interior, with only 30 miles on the clock - as new condition! I’m sure you’ve seen it online!

The 991.1 GT3RS is so beautiful because the shape of the car si so fluid. From the underlip of the front bumper to the little spoiler under the rear wing, it’s one continuous line. The 991.2 lost a bit of that purity. The 992 GT3 RS is a monster 😁 Super impressive and agressive, but as fluid as a Transformer.

Take it for a test drive. Then 3-4 months into I realize it is not a good fit for me. Aprecaite your chanel! Keep up the good work.
Congratulations. I personally winced when you sold your 992 GT3 for the 718 GT RS Both beautiful and beautifully engineered vehicles in my opinion, but the latter is more of a 2nd track-day car and not as much a daily driver. I hope you enjoy your new ride for awhile.

ah man so jealous that 3.8 engine in my opinion is the one of thebest sounding ones get and equal length headers on the tone would be heavenly you can also fit the evolves air boxes that increases power and breathing and tone ofcourse
BEST decision, Luke! It's so easy for everyone to caught up with the latest and greatest new cars and tech these days but there are so many incredible "old" cars that will always be the most amazing experience - even better than the brand new cars out there. I also went through a similar path but ended up in a 2011 M3 and have zero regrets. Sure, there are endless brand new vehicles that are faster and "better" according to stats but who cares about this if the experience isn't 10/10. Keep up the AWESOME content, man! And enjoy your new RS to its fullest!
Great video as usual. Love the commentary and thoughts. I think car guys often get sucked into other people’s views and desires. But deep down you know when a car feels right for you. Just takes pulling off the bandaid and doing it sometimes.
Great to hear such candid feedback, and realisation of one's self motivations. Very refreshing for a 'car youtuber' Luke! Many, many, years ago I owned a TVR Tuscan, and on one long road trip to Italy (from the UK) I did have to resort to ear plugs because otherwise I just got a terrible headache. The current 'silly car', the Caterham, can't be driven without ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones, but it is a second car, and I can put up with that for the overall experience. Mind, on last year's Germany trip, and this years, I did think at times it would've been nicer to do in the old 911… 🤣 Enjoy that GT3RS, they're amazing machines.

I am a current Porsche owner and have been driving Porsche's for the last decade in every which way possible, track time included. The Gt3 RS variant , Gt2 Rs, base GT3 and of course Mezger 996 and 991 911 Turbo are easily top most engaging , visceral , raw driving experiences on earth. Words can simply not explain it. These machines have to be truly experienced ( in real life) to have the experience. Sale every car you own and buy a Porsche. End of story.
2 things to learn here: 1) ALWAYS follow your gut feeling. It won't steer your wrong! 2) Don't think of the GT4RS saga as negative. Look at it as the undeniable proof that a 911 is the right car for you! Ahh, Porsche. Kicking ass with tiny little flat sixes for over 60 years! Beeindruckend!
Luke wonderful choice as I am looking at adding the same to my garage. Paint the wheels silver and it will pop to a whole new better level. It will look more complete, more harmonious and not cut off as black wheels do to cars.

It's a shame you didn't gel with the GT4 RS but I don't think you've gone wrong selling it and buying a GT3 RS. Ultra violet with silver wheels, I don't think there is a better looking car if you ask me. I wouldn't worry about what people think about you car purchases of recent, all of us who have been following your channel even for a short time will realise you buy cars because you want to drive them and not as an investment.

For most people the GTS or regular GT (non RS) makes most sense.

That being said..my 911 991.2 GTS manual is a MUCH better daily. Feels like a grand tourer compared to my GT4 RS. Being a manual it’s actually more fun to and from work etc. Good luck with your decision. Can’t go wrong regardless. Porsche…there is no substitute. 🤙🏻🏁

In fact Matt, probably best 991 RS for you is being sold in December in the RM Sotheby’s White Collection auction. Paint to Sample Grand Prix White, over a Yachting Blue interior, with only 30 miles on the clock - as new condition! I’m sure you’ve seen it online!
Matt, I’m curious if you could elaborate on why 991.1 specifically is your favorite. I’m an advocate for the 991 gen in general, so it’s great to see that they still are held in high esteem among enthusiasts!

Congratulations!!! The second I start video I remember one of your first videos with silver RS and look you have your own RS now!!!! That video is one of my favorites of all time , back then I say I want RS and I got 992 gt3 now . GT product from Porsche is just outstanding. Happy miles!

The 991.1 GT3RS is so beautiful because the shape of the car si so fluid. From the underlip of the front bumper to the little spoiler under the rear wing, it’s one continuous line. The 991.2 lost a bit of that purity. The 992 GT3 RS is a monster 😁 Super impressive and agressive, but as fluid as a Transformer.
Having owned both, if I was to go back, I would have the .1 RS to, mostly because the front end is so much more capable and assured than the 4 was.

Take it for a test drive. Then 3-4 months into I realize it is not a good fit for me. Aprecaite your chanel! Keep up the good work.

Congratulations. I personally winced when you sold your 992 GT3 for the 718 GT RS Both beautiful and beautifully engineered vehicles in my opinion, but the latter is more of a 2nd track-day car and not as much a daily driver. I hope you enjoy your new ride for awhile.

Like you said: No matter how spectacular a car seems to be - at the end it needs to have a bit of useability for daily drives or longer terms.

BEST decision, Luke! It's so easy for everyone to caught up with the latest and greatest new cars and tech these days but there are so many incredible "old" cars that will always be the most amazing experience - even better than the brand new cars out there. I also went through a similar path but ended up in a 2011 M3 and have zero regrets. Sure, there are endless brand new vehicles that are faster and "better" according to stats but who cares about this if the experience isn't 10/10. Keep up the AWESOME content, man! And enjoy your new RS to its fullest!

Great video as usual. Love the commentary and thoughts. I think car guys often get sucked into other people’s views and desires. But deep down you know when a car feels right for you. Just takes pulling off the bandaid and doing it sometimes.
Great to hear such candid feedback, and realisation of one's self motivations. Very refreshing for a 'car youtuber' Luke! Many, many, years ago I owned a TVR Tuscan, and on one long road trip to Italy (from the UK) I did have to resort to ear plugs because otherwise I just got a terrible headache. The current 'silly car', the Caterham, can't be driven without ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones, but it is a second car, and I can put up with that for the overall experience. Mind, on last year's Germany trip, and this years, I did think at times it would've been nicer to do in the old 911… 🤣 Enjoy that GT3RS, they're amazing machines.

I am a current Porsche owner and have been driving Porsche's for the last decade in every which way possible, track time included. The Gt3 RS variant , Gt2 Rs, base GT3 and of course Mezger 996 and 991 911 Turbo are easily top most engaging , visceral , raw driving experiences on earth. Words can simply not explain it. These machines have to be truly experienced ( in real life) to have the experience. Sale every car you own and buy a Porsche. End of story.

Luke wonderful choice as I am looking at adding the same to my garage. Paint the wheels silver and it will pop to a whole new better level. It will look more complete, more harmonious and not cut off as black wheels do to cars.

Not too loud for me and I'm sensative to noise as well. This noise is different though and the tone doesn't effect me negatively whatsoever.

It's a shame you didn't gel with the GT4 RS but I don't think you've gone wrong selling it and buying a GT3 RS. Ultra violet with silver wheels, I don't think there is a better looking car if you ask me. I wouldn't worry about what people think about you car purchases of recent, all of us who have been following your channel even for a short time will realise you buy cars because you want to drive them and not as an investment.
So so happy for you mate! Truly a dream car of mine, especially in silver. One of my favourite colours for the RS cars as they almost look like streetable "cup" cars. I also agree about the 991 being your favourite. I prefer it over the 992.. I find it too over the top tbh.
