You haven’t changed my mind on margaret especially how she treated diana she was born a incredibly privileged princess who didn’t have nearly as much responsibilities as elizabeth cause she was the spare so she had more freedom to do what she wanted, she was a rather mean girl and spoiled over pampered brat who think she didn’t have to show any respect to people, she was like the female version of andrew as far as attitude and personality, they just weren’t nice people, diana came from a wealthy aristocrat family who became a princess who had lots of pressures on her as well being a royal but she didn’t behave like margaret, margaret was a beautiful woman in her youth but had a bad attitude

@@p.w.7493 True, but to be a Princess you have to actually be born a Princess. After Diana died I think the Queen mentioned something about the people referring to Diana as "Princess Diana" or "The Peoples' Princess," but that was kind of an honorary title. When she was married to Charles she could be referred to as "Princess Charles" which is the equivalent of saying "Mrs. John Doe." Otherwise Diana was a Duchess, the same as Catherine, the same as Meghan. Had she stayed married to Charles and not passed away, she would have been Queen consort right now. One day Catherine will become Queen consort. Only a Queen born to that position can be called "Queen" instead of "Queen Consort."

Edit: Yes, her majesty was pretty. Never said she wasn't. But it is MY OPINION that Margaret was PRETTIER. I can make comparisons if I please. To me, they look different. I am neurodivergent and a symptom of my condition is that I am highly detailed. So to me, they are similar, but not identical. Margaret's features are just more pleasing to me. I am allowed to have my own taste in beauty if I please. Y'all sound ridiculous acting shocked that someone has a different opinion, then have the nerve to be a hypocrite and say "I think the queen is prettier" or "the queen is pretty too". I think for other people that you cover, you more strongly point out the circumstance where Margaret met the first man when she was 14, he was a ~30 year old fully adult man, and he was in a protector role. The fact that Elizabeth asked her to wait until she was 25 was not unreasonable. Many people can be torn between their romantic desires if in conflict with family or religious norms. There are financial and power perks, privileges, and public scrutiny that are the package of royalty. @@marinam1660 I also think it's funny how people like you talk about how bad off former colonies are now - without realizing just how much this demonstrates your complete lack of self-awareness. It's countries like Britain that are at fault for this! For literally hundreds of years, they stole people and resources, literally CREATED countries that ignored pre-existing boundaries and borders between ethnic groups (which created most of the in-fighting we see in those countries today), and set up systems of government that were not culturally aligned with the native peoples. (How would you like it if one day, America told Britain that they are now part of Russia?!) Compare life in places like Africa and India BEFORE colonialism, and that gives you a true picture of the costs of British/European colonialism, and what it's like to live without Europeans. Because right now, what we're seeing in these countries is what it's like AFTER European interference and influence. It actually undermines your point, and shows what harm Europeans have done. Africa once had some of the most advanced and richest societies in the world. The richest man to ever exist is a king from Mali - not a European. Much of mankind's most significant advancements were made by Africans BEFORE Europeans decided they wanted to stop trading with Africans and start stealing from them (and literally stealing them) instead.

The fact is that she did want to marry for love and the Queen would not approve of her choice since he was a divorced commoner. I think that was the beginning of her bitterness. She went on to marry Anthony Armstrong-Jones. He was not her first love and she probably never really loved him at all. She was trapped in a lifestyle she didn’t want, not able to marry the man she wanted and having with no real power or role to play. As the oldest I feel like Mom, always buying them birthday gifts, always there for them when they need help (spending thousands on them and their kids every year and they never reciprocate), always wanting the best for them... and they absolutely despise me and want to take me down like they think there is only one spotlight and it shines on me until they can steal it. I see this happening in other families too and it's just like "what the actual hell" is going on in the minds of younger siblings?

    • @shakiellaachee7829

It’s not a younger older relative thing it’s a narcissist thing. Stop doing those things or slow it down a bit … your parents may be to be blame but if they aren’t it’s because energies are not related. You have a way with money and life that they just can’t appreciate or even do with their own individuality… so they gonna feel either above or below you while wanting you there but being non reciprocal. I told my family it’s important they stop doing that because I have no problem living without them. No peace, respect or basic reciprocity means one or more family member isn’t living the way they want. Somehow it’s your fault. Love them from afar, love them with a long spoon. Hold back and see if they even try… when they don’t you’ll know your energy was never valued

When you live the life of a royal or celebrity your privacy goes right out the window. I studied Princess Margaret in college and her background was fascinating and sad. It made me upset that even her own parent or sister didn't do more to help her. But looking back and knowing more about Parliament and the clergy - hypocrites. How they managed and shaped the young women is quite sad. I would love, *Love* to see a future episode or vlog of you with historians Tom Pinfold and Ruth Goodman. I think in at least some way or another, Margaret wanted her parents to be proud of her like they were of Elizabeth. Sometimes we go to great extremes to do that. I also think in some way, Elizabeth wanted to be the fun one, but couldn’t do that without compromising her position, and she probably resented Margaret for that as well.

I fell in love with Princess Margaret after watching The Crown. She was too cool for the royal family.

She did what she could get away with. Nothing brave or baddass about that. In reality she seems to have been arrogant and unpleasant to be around.

I find myself not one bit envious of their lives…I think Queen Elizabeth lived vicariously through Princess Margaret tbh. Great video, especially enjoyed those photos from the 1950s! 🤗

Thank you for this well documented story this beautiful Princess. She looks a little like her only aunt (her dad’s sister) Princess Royal Mary but who didn’t like the limelight, she was more devoted to her services for girl guide
