The name “military tattoo” dates back to the 17th century. It is from the phrase “doe den tap toe”, which translates into “turn off the tap”. The phrase refers to a signal made by trumpeters and drummers to announce to in-keepers by military garrisons to stop giving soldiers beers so they can return to the barracks

I traveled the Moscow subway in 1975. When I was working as an engineer at Boeing (actually a physicist, but Boeing did not have any titles for scientists) in the 1980's several people were working on a project for noise cancelling headphones. When Boeing cancelled their project most of them went to work at Bose.

"Life in Russia is modern and up to date". Surely you only have to see a few places in Moscow to say such a thing. How wrong you are... Most of Russia is living even worse than in the Soviet Union. Hi Niki, very nice video. awesome view from the Capsul Hotel over Moscow. The Subway Station looks realy very nice. The Cat Coffee is very cool you visit.
I landed in Moscow in 1976 on an Aeroflot plane with my American high school trip and the quick descent hurt my ear so bad that it resulted in a busted ear drum. Can’t swim to the bottom of the deep end anymore or deep sea dive but the experience was still incredible. How many people visited Russia during the 70’s? Not many. Went to Moscow, Kiev (yes that Kiev) and Leningrad (yes it was called Leningrad not St. Petersburg). Saw Lenin in his tomb but it was a glass room outside of the Kremlin and they hit us with batons if we put our hands in our pockets (it was cold) because it was considered disrespectful but we didn’t know what the problem was!
I visited Russia in the early 80 s , when I was a kid, Leningrad, Moscow etc. Im from Sweden, not very far from Russia, even have Russian descent like 150 years ago. Anyway, it was a culture chock and I remember there was not very much on the shelfs in the store. Maybe its diffrent nowadays, more modern but I wouldn't visit because I dont want to support Putins regim and visit the country etc. But I do beleive the general Russian person is very nice and goodhearted...
Awesome video! Reminded me of my trip to Moscow back in 2019. Beautiful city with tons to see. Loved the cat cafe! Such a unique place. Great idea to help these little animals find their forever home :)

About the tattoo thing, tattoo is one of those confusing English words that has two totally different meanings. In this case it doesn’t mean a tattoo like you have on your body, but a military tattoo, which is like a performance or display featuring military bands, often from all over the world, where they march and play drums, bagpipes, etc. It is a pretty obscure term really, but they are quite popular in some parts of Europe and Especially the U.K. And great channel by the way, as a westerner today it is so weird to see just how similar Russia is in so many ways.
Nice to see russian people are perfectly normal people like you and me . Keep up the good work ! Never made it to the red place, but would like to. My father made it in the early 80`s, but his motivation was because he didn`t succeed in 42/43. Drushba

Hi Niki, very nice video. awesome view from the Capsul Hotel over Moscow. The Subway Station looks realy very nice. The Cat Coffee is very cool you visit.
Congrats to your sis! Hope she can study hard and get a good life from it!
Thanks Nikki, your enthiuasm is infectuous
Missing my time in Moscow so much !
I lived in both Moscow and St.Petersburg but preferred Moscow. Thank you so much for this clip :)
Nice video, Niki, at such a dark time....Thanks - from London.
How I'd love to visit Moscow, St Petersburg was beautiful but I never got to Moscow. Hopefully I can visit in the future.
Nice interesting vlog! I come from Moscow and got a bit homesick watching you take the metro. I love doing that. Take care, stay safe.
Aww Cat Cafe is so nice, maybe there's some in my country in Belgrade as well, I already have 9 cats at home xD
Maybe you can open the first one. Get a job, cats! ;)
Very interesting share. I had never heard of a capsule hotel before. The Moscow subway was really astounding. My husband and I are new subscribers and really love your videos. Thankyou so much for sharing your experiences and for keeping viewers updated on what is happening in Russia. Greetings from Canada . Be safe.
A military Tattoo is a term describing military music. It also is used to describe performances by military bands.
A great video, Niki. Thanks
i wish you showed more of the flights too. never thought moscow is that beautifull. the skyscrapers remain me on tel aviv.
Hi Niki good too see another of your videos! Sending love hugs and greetings from Orlando Florida USA 🤗
Not to mention the sword ⚔️ performance. Would you do that walk?
Niki, take care brother. You are brave for staying there, hugs from Spain.
Nice to see russian people are perfectly normal people like you and me . Keep up the good work ! Never made it to the red place, but would like to. My father made it in the early 80`s, but his motivation was because he didn`t succeed in 42/43. Drushba
I truly enjoyed travelling with you to Moscow ! Wow, what an amazing city 🌟👌🏽Thanks for sharing dear Niki 🙏🏽🌻Please tak care ! Cheers from Czech Republic

I've been watching your videos since very recently and I absolutely love their quality, also thank you for sharing your first hand experience living in Russia. Please keep yourself safe, greetings from Mexico (where you already have a second home!!!)
Brilliantly personal and informative. We love your videos in New York City.
I wish you could just leave Russia Niki, you are one of the very few russian channels i follow and i would hate if something bad happens to you, stay safe please.
Ye sure buddy. The speech just ended, they didn’t say a thing about mobilization, continue getting brainwashed.
Why would he need to leave?
Because army is calling
@@humanidee118 because of **gesture broadly** everything?!
Its his choice at the end of the day. I too follow other russian youtubers who are doing different things from staying, staying somewhere else, or just minding their business.
Omg, love the cat cafe 🐈! It reminds me to visit our local one and maybe adopt some more cats. Thank you for your positive attitude and great reporting. You represent your company in the best possible way. Peace! ❤️🙏
