Thank you for updating this. It's much more clear and concise. Your video is the first I've watched that has required an embroidery software on the computer. The others I've watched just download the design, put on the flash drive and put the flash drive into the machine. Interesting. Your video makes me comfortable enough to program my flash drive. Thank you.
Excellent! I’m still figuring out my machine and this is so helpful. I’m wondering if the embroidery software that comes with the Janome 550E is sufficient for this purpose. I just discovered your site. Great tutorials. I’m going to have fun exploring. Thank you.
Thank so much Jennifer. I wasn’t able to put the Janome software on my computer because I don’t have a disc drive on my computer. I will be doing another video soon of how to transfers files from creative fabrica without having to use a digitising software. The Janome 550E is such a nice machine, I hope you are enjoying it too. Have an amazing day.
I found that the machine likes the SMALLEST gig in order to read the designs. My machine went crazy w larger size drive and I have NOTHING other than the design I want to transfer.
Hi Vivienne, depending on the hoop that the design is assigned to - the designs would be grouped together. For example, designs that are for the 140mm x140mm hoop will be grouped together on the machine, deigns on the 140mm x 200mm will be grouped together . The machine automatically groups the designs by hoop size. I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need further details.
hey, I just went to the ember site and there is a large selection of software, can you help me which one I need to buy? (the one for 178.50 euros) thank you❤
Hi there. I got my Embird so I could digitise and so I can use fonts on my computer for embroidery, so I got the basic Embird program ( 149 USD) with the Iconizer (20 USD) and then I got two plugins Embird studio (150 USD ) and Embird Font Engine (148 USD ). I paid just under 400 USD for all of the above about 2 years ago. It depends what you want to use the program for. If you want to digitise, you definitely need Embird studio including the basic package. I hope this helps, I know it can be confusing, it took me a while to figure out what part of the software I wanted. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. Have an amazing weekend 🫶🏽💕
@@elizartdesignstudio hei hei, thank you very much for your quick reply. I'm very confused right now, me and my husband are planning to buy the Janome 550 e embroidery machine, mainly I would just like to embroider children's names and dates of birth on baby blankets but I would also like to start with something for adults, I don't know yet. The problem is I can't draw, really not at all, but I would mostly buy embroidery files from the websites you suggested. 🌷
@justone3277 I think maybe for now get the basic package, I think you can always add the plugins at a later date if you decide to start digitising. Etsy is also very good for getting embroidery files and the good think is you can read the reviews to check if people who have purchased the file are happy with the stitch out. The Janome 550E is a very nice machine and it has a large hoop which would be good for blankets. 🫶🏽💕
Can I load my embroidery software that came with my janome 500e to my old computer and then to a flash drive and from my flash drive there to my laptop because my laptop is new but it does not have a disk drive only a flash drive so Is this possible?
Hi Gloria. I’m not sure. In theory it should be possible. I was unable to put the Janome software on my laptop because I too don’t have a disk drive. I wished Janome would have thought about this an provided the software on a flash drive like other companies do. If you do try, please let me know if it worked. Thank you for watching. Have an amazing day 🫶🏽
@@elizartdesignstudiothere is something called an “external disk drive” which is a disk holder/reader that plugs into your computer via USB hope this helps
Hi Etnik, do you have the Janome embroidery software? If you do, you can set up the embroidery file for the machine. Having the embroidery software is useful. I don’t believe can save embroidery files in Inkscape because it is vector based. I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can help further.
Hi love the video. I wonder if you could help me with the speed on my janome 550e? I slowed it dow to 400 but now its greyed out and I cant change the speed any ideas are welcome. Thank you zelda
Hi Zelda, sorry to hear you are having issues with your machine. I’ve never come across this issue with my machine. Have you tried unplugging it completely from the power supply and then plug it back in after a few minutes? Perhaps that would reset it and then you are able to change the speed then. I’ll keep searching on the internet for a resolution and reply back here if I find one. I. The meantime I hope unplugging helps. Thanks you for watching - it’s very much appreciated. 🫶🏽
Hi Maariya. I believe it does but I’m not entirely sure. If you do try it out on the Janome 500e and it does work or maybe you find it doesn’t; please, please come back and share your findings in the comment section. Thank you in advance.
Hi Randy. I wish there was an easier way. This is what I’ve seen other Janome 550E users do and it has worked well for me but you are right, it is more difficult and there are too many steps. I am tempted to just plug in a new usb flash drive and see what happens - maybe it will just format itself. Thank you for watching and for engaging in the comments. Have an amazing day.
It only takes 10 seconds on this particular machine, as well .. touch “SET” on the right hand side, arrow over to Page 2, you’ll see “Format” .. touch the flash drive image and touch OK. It really IS that simple.
Insert the new stick .... choose the "Spanner" icon ...... scroll through the pages until you find the "format" option .......... choose machine or usb stick ........ select ok !!!!!!
Regarding my new usb, perhaps you missed the part of the video that I saved the owl design which is one that is inbuilt into the machine onto my usb. My usb had nothing on it as it was new. So to clarify I saved the owl design from my machine onto my usb to format it. This is what I have alway done and it has worked with no issues.

OMG ..... renaming and owl file is not preparing a new usb stick to use in the machine .... ....... grrrrr ... what a waste of time
How do you prepare / format your usb in your Janome 550 Brad?

Sure thing !!! For starters, how does your brand new usb stick [taken from a brand new pack of 5 sticks] have an owl file already on the stick ??
