davey Allison , was one of the best to drive a race car , gone too soon . Even the intimidator himself once said that if davey had lived on , Dale said he himself wouldn’t have 7 championships. That says a lot about davey Allison coming from the intimidator. RIP Davey
My dad took me to this race. I was five or six. I remember Davey Allison had a small hole in his car and you could see him inside shifting gears when he drove by.
I’m a Dale Earnhardt fanatic but this race here will always be my favorite Bristol race! The racing for the lead throughout this race is one reason why people loved Winston Cup Racing! This was the best commentator team nascar will ever have!
Anybody remember the old hotline you could call to get the starting lineup each week? My dad and I called to get the lineup every week just to see where Earnhardt would be starting from. Watching these classic races really makes me miss my dad. He loved NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt.
I miss this iteration of Bristol, though I mainly loved the concrete repave a few years from this race. I can't really fathom why Bristol won't consider going back to the 36 degree bank.
I am a great fan of both but this does not justify the term 'underrated'. By now 'underrated' seems a synonym for 'I like that guy' and has lost all of its meaning. Both drivers are well established in the hearts of NASCAR fans as great drivers with their fair share of success, and both taken from us too soon.
This is going to be a wild one folks! A re-sealed Bristol ASPHALT track that was beyond slippery to comprehend. This was also Dale Jarrett's career rebirth as he got the famed Wood Brothers ride after Neil Bonnett's injuries suffered the week before.
@@alandavis1245 many resurfacing attempts in 91-92 were not coming out well and it is a nightmare to maintain. The concrete surface made it a lot easier to maintain. Dover took the same advice a few years later. Should add the summer race of 92 was the first race on the concrete surface
Would be neat to see NASCAR upload Mr. September's 4 wins in a row in 1991, this September. I don't think any of Harry Gant's wins are on NASCAR's channel yet.
I went there before they added any grandstands above the concrete bleachers. My first Bristol memory was Benny Parsons winning the spring race in 1978. I went before that but was too young to remember the details...
I wish Fox would've got mister excitement Jimmy Spencer to be in the booth after Darrell Waltrip retired him or Kenny Wallace would have been great calling the race with a little bit of excitement during race's
No marl is a man he has something Earnhardt never had that's callked respect an he races clean an don't dump people when he can't get by he is a real man an a real driver
This will always be the greatest era of nascar for me, it's a shame that too many in this field were taken way too soon.
TV broadcast starts, run through the starting order, quick word from the pit reporter, and then the green drops. No BS.

That is awesome!
Was that the Randy pmberton hotline cause I’d be calling when they would go testing at Daytona ..,, in January
I'm so glad they're uploading this one.

What!?!? I divorced NASCAR after the 2004 season and just before all the stoopid ruled changes. Did Bristol really change the banking???
Davey is an underrated Legend (Just like Alan)

Exactly. It is not like people don't know them or their merits

When did they change it concrete and why?

@@badbooking3221 thanks for the timely answer

Harry Gant sat out this race to mourn his father’s death. Rick Wilson was supposed to substitute, however he would give up the seat for Phil Parsons.
Ooh I’m excited for this one. A bit different from the status quo.
I hear there might be a photo finish for this one!
I miss Davey, I miss this Bristol and that big inflatable Busch beer can. Bob, Ned and Benny too.

Great era of NASCAR racing to watch, great race to upload!
Thanks NASCAR for the upload.
RIP Neil ! RIP Davey RIP DALE and many more.
Imagine if Davey Allison and Alan Kulwicki never passed away how diffrent things would have been
Not to mention Tim Richmond and if Ernie Irvan wouldn't have almost killed himself at Michigan...
@mattfulmer4243 for sure
WOW.. no dislikes yet, I'm surprised, actually convinced me to watch the whole race
4:21 race start
Hello. I think that cams on helmets is very very very very good idea!!!!!!!
Yeah! Nascar without it is plastic.
Crazy to see grass out by the grandstands knowing now it’s all gone with stands in it.
I went there before they added any grandstands above the concrete bleachers. My first Bristol memory was Benny Parsons winning the spring race in 1978. I went before that but was too young to remember the details...
Helmet cam 1990 😮, I thought that was more recent.
ESPN was the leader in many of these camera innovations for racing.
Ernie Irvan is the best I loved him in that Kodak Film car.
I'll be waiting for the flip side of the coin between Rusty and Gordon when we get to Richmond!
I wish Fox would've got mister excitement Jimmy Spencer to be in the booth after Darrell Waltrip retired him or Kenny Wallace would have been great calling the race with a little bit of excitement during race's
Rubbin's Racing!
Is it just me or does Bristol look bigger back then than it does now?
1990 Southern 500?

Could you show you first race in HD 16:9 ? Would be great
Fabian B HD in 1990 - don’t think so.
@@MonkeyCrispEater Ah, HD had been around since the 60's (at least). Search the movie Grand Prix from 1966.
However, an ESPN broadcast, nah.
The points penalty makes no sense
Pedal too the metal and keep making left hand turns.Big💰💰💰💰for the winner.
@Nascar please stop giving the race results away in the title (you didn't in this one - thx)
No Toyota ....stands full. And people wonder why nascar today is dead
You have Toyota Derangement Syndrome.
I agree! Nascar Old Forever! 👍✌✌👏👏👏👏🔝🔝😉
Yeah bud it's definitely not their garbage stage setup and crybabies winning every week, it's a random car brand
specious (adj): superficially plausible, but actually wrong. words are fun.
No stupid playoffs and stage racing either.
1991 is better.
That's the race that Rusty Wallace won, That one is from 1990 that Davey Allison won.
I know.
This is the best Bristol race!
Anybody else would’ve passed Davey 50 laps ago but Mark Martin is Mark Martin……. Soft
Soft?! It’s called being respectful…but sure a guy who raced for 30 years is “soft”. You wouldn’t dare say that to his face cause you’re a coward
No marl is a man he has something Earnhardt never had that's callked respect an he races clean an don't dump people when he can't get by he is a real man an a real driver
@brianbooher7318 that's why earnhardt has 7 titles and martin none..... I guess you've never raced
