3 cars on the lead lap at the end of the race. THIS WAS BETTER RACING & MIRE ENTERTAINING THAN THE CHASE/PLAYOFF, LUCKYDOG, WAVE AROUND CRAP WE HAVE NOW
Ned Jarrett won this race in 1963 and 1965, though his 1963 win is credited to Fred Lorenzen who started the race in the Holman-Moody Ford. Jarrett's 1965 win was driving a Ford for Bondy Long. Benny Parson's won this race in championship winning year of 1973 driving a Chevy for L. G. DeWitt. ESPN showed a graphic before the race showing Chevrolet's had dominated the wins in this race at Bristol up to this point. As of the end of the 2019 season, Chevy still leads with 21 wins, but have only won 6 times since this race and only 3 times this century (2002, 2004 and 2016). Ford have increased their win total to 20 with (including this race) 15 wins since 1991. Toyota have won 6 times since 2009, Pontiac only had one more win in this race (Tony Stewart in 2001) while Dodge won in 2011 thanks to Brad Keselowski and Penske Racing. The only other manufacturers to win since it was first held in 1961 were Buick (1981, 1982 and 1983) and Oldsmobile in 1978.
Ahhh, REAL half mile hi-bank rock 'n' roll racin'. Is there anything better than Thunder Valley racin' with the REAL masters; Rusty, DW and #3? I loved short track racin'. Thanks SMIFF.
3:25:24 - Bill Brodrick to Alan Kulwicki = God, I am proud of you!! Me = Alan, you worked so hard... every win you had in your short career was momentous... you inspired so many around you.. with a little hard work and fighting spirit you made the impossible possible!! That is why you are my all time #1 driver!!
Sure seems to me that after a large number of cars blow tires on the same turn, that they should perhaps just for fun pause the race and inspect the track.
Bristol is a serious pile of xxxx in 1991. Cutting tires left and right. This era of NASCAR is still far better than the Bill France Jr. era. I can't watch the new garbage.
Petty spins, no caution. Today, a fan sneezes in the wrong direction, and they throw the caution. Why I haven't watched Nascar since they came up with the gimmick chase bullshit. Let alone stages. Then there's the PR guys, I mean drivers. Yeah, nah. Nascar is a shell of what it once was. I'm thankful I found this channel, and can rewatch the glory days of Nascar.
Bob, Benny, and Ned with Jerry and John in the pits... the best NASCAR has ever... no... WILL ever have.
Indeed 👍😁
Benny was a National Treasure!
RIP Benny and Bob
Benny Parsons was great. Sure do miss him

Full of people not a empty seat like this year! Go figure.
To be fair, there are at least 3 times more seats now.
@@robbinscarberry8085 To be fair, Bristol filled 160,000+ seats from the late 90s thru the mid 2000s.
Unlike Charlotte and Daytona, Bristol hasn't removed thousands of seats.
Miller and Coors starting on the front row, and leading early in the Bud 500. Anheuser-Busch are not amused...
Good beers nonetheless lol
