Legend 1997.
(referring to the year of Su's birth)
It is told that receiving the legendary neck brace from the god of Metal,
she shall abandon her human life and be reborn as a goddess.
The bloodline which has been passed down from ancient times
is destined to be the guide, boarding the ark of time.
The apocalypse is prophesied
DOOMSDAY comes
There remains... little time..
For me personally, this is the absolute best metal performance I have ever seen!
The ending part literally knocked me out

Or better yet, if the only thing you know about them, is KARATE and Doki Doki Morning.

more about to present themselves
The song _"BabyMetal - BabyMetal Death"_ is a pun in the Japanese language
Japanese speaker have a lot of difficulty to pronounce the _"th"_ at the end of the word _Death_
That sound does not exist in the Japanese language. Therefore, they pronounce it _"Des"_
In Japanese, the word _です_ or in our writing _"Desu"_ (the letter "u" is silent; pronounce "Des") mean; "I am" or "we are"
The song is a way for them to present themselves
BabyMetal Death lyrics :
Death _(6 times)_ followed by Su-Metal Death
Death _(6 times)_ followed by YuiMetal Death
Death _(6 times)_ followed by MoaMetal Death
Death _(6 times)_ followed by BabyMetal Death
Then they sing the letters : B, A, B, Y, M, E, T, A, L
However, the Japanese Pronunciation of the song is :
Des _(6 times)_ followed by Su-Metal Des -> I am Su-Metal
Des _(6 times)_ followed by YuiMetal Des -> I am YuiMetal
Des _(6 times)_ followed by MoaMetal Des -> I am MoaMetal
Des _(6 times)_ followed by BabyMetal Des -> We are BabyMetal
Therefore, we should sing "Des" and not "Death" with them in live concert
* The word "Desu" have the letter "u" silent when we pronounce it normally, however if we have to pronounce that word slowly, the letter "u" is no longer silent

So true.
It's not mikio. Backthen, he was not yet playing with babymetal. The solo may had been perfomed by Leda or Takayoshi.
@@DonDaniellllll That was Mikio.
Takayoshi was on guitar on the other side of the stage and Leda couldn't pull that solo off like that. It's too fluid and legato, like Mikio's guitar hero Alan Holdsworth.

Started listening to this band recently. I just want to gush about how brilliant this song and performance is. This is the first song in their first album and perfectly introduces the band with a bi-lingual pun. To westerners it sounds like “Baby Metal Death” (the title of the song) but Japanese listeners will hear “Baby Metal-desu” which is like “We are Baby Metal”. Some people say that the crucifixion is Satanic but it’s more like goddess worship. It plays on the word “idol” by changing it from “pop idol” into something more like “pagan idol”. They are so cool!
Most Christians would think goddess worship is satanic though,,,
Satanism is worshipping to Satan, and they're not doing that. They're just worshipping Su-Metal (the main singer) as their metal Goddess. Obviously this is just a metal show. So chill out!
@@dorianleakey That's not so much Satanic as it Sacrilegious
To be fair, most Christians would not know the difference between satanism and paganism.

This is one of the best live performances of the last decade, bar none. When I initially saw this, I was blown away, and I thought that they set the bar too high, too early. But they have proven me wrong over the years, continually releasing quality music and putting on strong live shows. I've been a fan of this group for a long time, and I hope that Babymetal continues to shine for many years to come. They have a bright future ahead of them, and have the potential to reach Iron Maiden and Judas Priest level of legend.
Aren't they already?
*+Asy* - Regrettably, not yet. I'm pretty sure creator/producer Koba's ultimate dream is for Babymetal to sell out Madison Square Garden (20,000), and they aren't close -- the most they've pulled alone in the USA is 4,000. It'll take at least two more great albums and way more media coverage.
For reference, X-Japan played MSG, but I don't know if they sold it out. Babymetal did not sell out Wembley Arena (12,500) in London but came within a couple hundred tickets of doing so. Europe is way more densely populated and metal is bigger there, so it's an easier task than MSG.
I don't know if Babymetal will ever be stadium-big outside Japan. I hope so.
Perhaps the only reason they havent pulled more than 4k people in a US show if because they havent performed at bigger venues, im pretty confident they can do at least 8k shows but OTFGK
Soufriere They already sold out the budokan 2 consecutive nights.
That was Japan, he's talking about selling out an equal size Western venue, which they haven't been able to do (yet).

Lots of people have referenced this show, what a fucking banger it is. They rule, I'll see them every time they come around, guaranteed.
This is insane levels of stage production. Babymetal Death is by far the best opening track I've ever seen for a live show. Look at the crowd. If you get it, you get it.
Sorry but it seems that you believe the statute in the background is the Virgin Mary ( your catholic remark )..
The statute is Lady Justice.
It’s not the Virgin Mary. Has nothing to do with religion.
Metallica had a famous concert in Mexico during 1986 and they had lady justice statue too. Babymetal are paying homage to that concert here. It’s Suzuka’s 16 birthday.

Jesus, that build up, then the scream, then all out pandemonium on stage during the killer solo by Mikio(r.i.p) followed by the death chant....it just doesn't get any more metal than that. This song is pure glorious thrashing death metal!
When I first showed my girlfriend Babymetal, we were watching the livestream of the Red Night and Black Night concert at Tokyo Dome. When she saw all three girls crucified on crosses, she was like, "WTF?" But I'm proud to say she is now part of the Babymetal family.
Babymetal board room meeting:
Ok, now just hear me out here fellas. How about we have flashing red and white lights, gigantic screen with a gigantic statue, fire, lots and lots of fire, Su, Yui, & Moa, introduce themselves in their normal girl voices after which Su gets crucified with people standing around in dark costumes holding crosses, all while Kami Band plays the darkest metal riff and the crowd pumping their fists and repeatedly shouting desu, desu, desu, desu that people will surely mistake for the word "Death!"
Its just a rough sketch but I think we can work with this. Thoughts?

The most over the top performance I think I have ever seen, metal or otherwise. Along with In The Name of.. from the Legend S show, proof that no one does anything quite like this. Completely bat-shit crazy, and I love it.
No but how did Su even feel being worshiped?? Like I'd have to hold my self back from evilly laughing and calling everyone my slave children. You go Su-Metal, be the goddess of us all, follow your dreams girl.
Legend 1997, this show is about Su's birth year that's why they did that.
+arbalest T - Specifically, this concert was held December 21st 2013, the day after Su's 16th birthday. It was a way to show that the child Suzuka of Sakura Gakuin was gone, replaced by the Queen Su-Metal.
From what we've seen, Suzuka in real life is really humble, maybe that is why she could hold herself back. Also she has been on stage since 5 years old, she knows how a show is made.
I think the humble and the respectful nature of the 3 of them not big headed , arrogant or anything and have so much charisma. This has Endeared them to fans , interviewers and fellow performers across the world.
Here is a BABYMETAL mythology: Su, the lead singer, died as a normal school girl on the cross and was reborn as an agent with a mission to restore the glory of metal music to our world. The neck brace is a symbol of heavy metal. Wearing it means to wear the mantle of metal music. Think about it as a story in a musical theater.
Another important fact is that the song title is "BABYMEAL DEATH (DESU)", which is a word play on Japanese and English words. Since Japanese language does not have "th" sound, they replace "th" with "su" and pronounce "death" as "desu". Now "BABYMETAL DESU" in Japanese means "[We] are BABYMETAL", a self-introduction.
So, the whole thing means this. We are BABYMETAL. Our mission is to revive metal music. We sacrifice our normal life (we work very hard) for the mission. That's BABYMETAL and that's who we are.
Wow! Those girls must go through a brutal fitness routine. Takes a lot of stamina to be able to jump around like that, dance and sing. I remember having tons of energy when I was young but these girls are amazing.
Words cannot express how happy I am that something this insane actually exists
Went to my first concert of theirs and this was the opening song, of course. It wasn't as theatrical but god the feeling of being there and being part of the chanting (I chant desu instead of death) was definitely an experience that will stick with you
