@@sho_dutta Not sure if it means something else in your language but in American and British English they are most definitely the same thing. Maybe you are thinking of diesel fuel?
I’m in the U.K. We use “I’m going to the loo,” when going to the toilet. It comes from the French “L’eau” (pronounced loo) for water. In times before proper bathrooms, people went to the toilet in a bucket, and since there was no indoor plumbing, they would throw it out of a window. So if you heard someone shout “LOO!” You knew to duck and cover, in case you got the contents over your head.
Lol. I'm from Malaysia and for no. 1, "can i see your pen?", is the same in the casual Malay language. Here we say, "Boleh tengok pen kau tak?" which literally means "can see pen you not?". Also, if i'm not mistaken "Gas" in the States is a short form for "Gasoline" which is equivalent to car Petrol which is in turn a common oversimplification of "Petroleum Fuel". "How are you doing?" is also not so weird in comparison to my language. Here we use "apa khabar" for "how are you" which literally means "what news?". Language doesn't necessarily make sense all the time. Also, by using common expressions of a language, is one way to tell how familiar you are with that language. It's beautiful.
Lol this was really entertaining for me and my Thai gf!😂How about how 'hit me up' and 'getting knocked up' mean something completely different??😆Keep up the content, love what you guys do!
Very entertaining and interesting video! Definitely shows how complex English comprehension can be with a constantly evolving list of slangs and wide ranging colloquialism 🧐🤨😁
I give English learners a lot of credit for trying to learn such a crazy language. Not to mention different places use it a little differently and have different sayings.....must drive you nuts! ;) XD
I have an Asian gf who always uses American phrases with me, like "whats up" for hi, and "see you later" for bye. Even though i'm British and they're not common phrases i use. i think its cute. She tries, and i love her for it.

In most of the UK people traditionally call their midday meal dinner and their evening meal tea (served around 6 pm), whereas the upper social classes would call the midday meal lunch or luncheon and the evening meal (served after 7 pm) dinner (if formal) or supper (if informal)!
Re Asking someone how they are as a greeting: when America was first settled by Europeans it was a harsh environment and settlers relied on one another for a lot more than today. After all, most settlers were rural dwellers who didn't see their neighbors as frequently as they do today. So, asking someone how they were doing 200 years ago really meant that they actually wanted to know how the other persons were doing. America evolved but kept some of the old greetings (and many other social things). I may be completely wrong about this but it makes some practical sense to me. Regards.
Hi Familia. I also believe things get very complicated when you use slang with another language. Mexican/American Italian/American ect.... Sure there are other combos. But Tah makes it very funny and interesting
"CAN" for toilet is an abbreviated form of "PORT-O-CAN" which is a brand name of a portable toilet. Be glad that she was not on a BOAT where they use the term "HEAD" for toilet (which would REALLY be hard to explain why you would disrespect somebody so much) 🤣
We have a lot of deer around where we live. My wife's vocabulary is getting better but she still says do not touch the deer with my truck. When you touch the deer they go to sleep in the ditch. Now she says they are dead and not a sleep. Found this video very funny.
What about "I'm going to hit the head". There could be a whole video just on different slang for going to the toilet, bathroom, restroom, CR, John, loo, water closet, etc. 😂
I don't know anyone who says the John or can. I'm familiar with those terms. Maybe they were used in the 70s or 80s more? But most people I know say the bathroom, restroom, and ladies room.
