This saved my bacon today, replaced plate heat exchanger, right hand side block and manifold, as well as PRV. No way I'd feel comfortable enough to tackle this job without this video.
Allen this is probably the best content you have uploaded with viva training academy and Roy etc and all of your content is of extremely high quality. Absolutely loving the videos of boilers being stripped and each part being thoroughly explained how it works and what they do. You and Roy are wizards. Keep up the great work. Thank you.
Great info again. Retirement looming after nearly 50 years. Wish I'd had your backup years ago. You never stop learning. Advised a few newbies to tune in. Well done x
Thank you so much for this video. The company responsible for my boiler insurance with Domestic & General have to come back and replace the PRV on my Greenstar 24i Junior. I now know that, after shutting off all the radiators and draining what's left, a competent plumber should be able to remove the hydroblock relatively quickly in order to replace this part. I've seen several videos that attempt to replace the PRV without doing this, and it seems far more trouble than removing the block. While I wouldn't consider working on the boiler myself I really do like to know what is being done, and how it should be done.
You forgot to mention in little older Worcerster boilers, these plastic flow turbine starts deteriorates and cracks easily, so be carefull when removing hydra block in older boilers. Really good video. thanks
Hi Allen, thanks for your video clips. What are all the symptoms of a faulty bypass valve? This gentleman in the clip mentioned one of them already. What is the rest please? Best Mo
Thanks very much Gentlemen, very useful to understand the components more. I’ve removed 2 Hydroblocks on 24/28i juniors, not easy, but I had to refer to mi’s as well. 😀
Hi great video, just a quick question, is this the same setup on a Worcester Bosch greenstar 30i? I have a problem with my boiler, when the hot water is off the pressure goes over 3 bars but when the hot water is running it drops down to just below 3 bars. What can be the main issue? Cheers
Excellent 👌 👌 👌 So well explained and honestly didn't realise how easy it is to remove the hydro block 🙄😂 Fantastic tips especially about the auto bypass. Just so impressive 👍
Amazing Allen how you get time to fit all these videos in. I'm 61 been in plumbing since 17 and at no time has there been better access to plumbing and heating today then ever. THANK YOU 👌
another thing to be advised about .. the washers that go in the top of the hydro-block are called Bonded Washers they are bosh specific they have little tabs do not try put the system back together without them. I am not sure where mine went if anywhere... but i did find broken Fibre washers which lead me to believe that was the washer needed.. which is wrong... cut a long story short after watching a few vids and visiting a few plumbing spares websites i found out about that the correct proprietary washer.. another side part is that you can use a regular bonded washer on the left hand block that does not have little tabs.
I have a P2P to change on the Greenstar classic the pipes go straight out of the valve into the wall so no chance of moving hot pipe out of the way, do you recommend removing the hydro block to change p2p
Absolute quality demonstration of hydro removal and the explanation of all the components.....gotta be honest I never realised there was a valve in that bypass 🥴 Thanks Allen and Roy. P.s. your a genie with these Worcester’s Allen ...seen you strip these for fun 👏👏👏👏 Do you have any component testing from pcb videos 😁
I would be interested to see common primary heat exchanger faults. Recently had an cast alloy heater exchanger on a Worcester Bosch RD32 split at the side that was not visible from the front. It would hold pressure when cold but when the heating was re-engaged it would slowly lose pressure and leak out about a litre of water in 24 hours.
Don't understand why they put the prv where they did, you can pop a baxi out in minutes, having to take the hydraulic block out just doesn't make any sense, and they don't come out as easy as you are implying, also you forgot to mention those unusual metal type washers that you can miss when to release those clips with the pump pliers, then you can't buy the washers and seals just enough to replace the prv, they supply a big bag with every clip, O ring and washer in the boiler around £45, I've got a big tin of the ones I didn't use. Even standard fibre washers won't fit as the male end has a little lip on it so you can only use WB washers and they don't give you any extra. I walked away from one of these last week that needed a new prv, just couldn't face it.
Nice video, Thanks for sharing the knowledge. But the writing was covering the actual stuff what he was showing please keep all the writing in a separate section so we can see what he is showing. Thanks again
Hi Allen, do you (or any readers) know where we can buy a PCB for a Mains Eco fan please? I think it's also known as the fans 'speed modulation board' < it's positioned in the housing on the back of the fan... All we can find on the internet are Worcester fan PCB's - Cheers
Hi Chaz, unfortunately the fan Pcb is not available as a separate part, I know some of the Baxi engineers, just change the Pcb but have to take it from a new fan.
Great video again mate I’m currently on my gas course and I’m looking to get some jobs done in my portfolio I’m from Pontefract if you know anyone in the local area who can give me a hand let me know thanks my friend

@@ivanlongo8725 thanks for advice. Definitely won't do it.
Thanks Roy and Alan, full of little gems.
Got first right hand block tomorrow morning perfect timing thanks Roy and Alan
Removing the whole hydroblock to replace the p2p seems like a light bulb moment
Never will lose a rubber seal again

Top of the range.. great tip on bypass thankyou alan + roy for these informative videos 👏
Wish this video came up first. Very good. Thanks
Thank You
Another top video. Think I’d need 100 photos and big Roy’s help to put all that back together 😳😂

Excellent video👍
Very thorough stuff this Alan. Ta!
Would it be easier to remove the hydro block to change the prv ? Thanks
Great video as always I've done this but boiler won't fire up afterwards any idea what I've done wrong x
great video guys , i didnt realise that there was a valve in the bypass
Glad it helped
Alan and Roy legends💪
Brilliant lesson, thank you for your time
As we all know the Hydroblock doesn’t come out anywhere near that easily on an older boiler crammed into a dark cupboard !!!!
As usual, another great video
Thanks
Great video as always Allen I’ve taken a couple if these out before, had a nightmare, but this video would of definitely helped me👍🏻
Thank you Pete.

Great video 👌Any chance you could do one with the old 28i Jn 4731187 or similar. Seem to be a good bit harder than the 30i.

Hi it seems that a part was on the kitchen desk.
It's called a damper,from a Worcester 24 green star.
Where should this been placed.
Thank You
@@AllenHart999 anyway, I have never put part back, because there was no information att all about it.
The boiler function s perfect.
Thanks for the great videos!
So much easier on a dry boiler
Great .. very helpful .. I have to do one these today .. get the plate out

Is the hydroblock housing male where it meets the plate heat exchanger holes( female) or doesn't it enter just surface contact with washer?
it has a flat face on it. Thanks.
@@AllenHart999 Thanks Allen

All that just to replace a prv. Good video but I'll stick to baxi

Halifax eh, that’s handy
I usually resit my ACS at Colne but Halifax is much easier
Where about s in Halifax are you
🤩🤩🤩
Great video Allen and Roy,
Horrible strip down for a basic job like PRV change
How about a video on balancing radiators with Testo clamps
Taking out the pump assembly you can easily get to the PRV and also remove the plate heat exchanger
good man!
More vids on Vaillant
I'd just leave the whole lot out for the scrapman.
Yet again worchester making a mess of placing the Prv at the back
👍🤓👍
Looks like a time machine
I ned only how to change the pump
This is very good, but I urge you not to unplug sensor connectors (or any electrical connectors) by pulling on the wires.
I hate Worcester boiler repairs. Plastic quality very bad. Specifically when you have to change the flow unit....
The return one is even worse ,and way overpriced.
