@@alandowden8165 So very similar to mine except for the bottom drain. All I can say is go as big as finance allows you too, not only for the build but also the bills for water, electric etc... Love it Lau. I’m in the middle of a nightmare pond build that started back in July. (Cowboy pond builder now gone). Anyway, I’m thinking of doing something similar so great to see your video. 🤗

Hi Les, they were fiberglass planters originally. I got them on the Marketplace. They were blue originally but I lightly sanded them and spray painted them in red.
Margo I 🤔 you deserve a Blue Peter Badge 📛. You the French are quite like the Irish "English meaning" Backwards 😂. But quality conversion to bog filter you could of used hessian sacks with pond mud/fertiliser, but I've grown Lillies in alfragrog and MarinePure Spheres. 👍
Hi Simon, your message made me giggle :-) Yeah I have seen people doing that, but I didnt want any soil at all near the pond, that's why I didnt that :-) I need to look at what Marine Pure Spheres are, interested. Thank you again for watching
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection MARINEPURE IS 🇺🇸 MADE and is in my opinion 1 of the Best & first on Market Long before Momotaro which probably is the best on market to date specially when you look how RASTA 🎏 has his setup. @@simonshears5182 Just looked into the Marine Pure. I have seen those before. They are good and efficient. I have used the hessian bags before in my old little pond. But as I have gained more experience now with koi keeping, it's something I will never have in my pond again, soil I meant. It's just a preference I think when you have a more natural pond looking, ground level I mean, or when you have a rectangular shape half in and out of the ground. Hi Mark, I totally agree. When I was designing that bog filter, I first tried different level of height by emptying water in the pond. I liked it mid level return, but the water blade would have been far too high and the noise of splashing water is something I really struggle with. The shower is a constant flow of water which I seem to cope with, but even the bog filter, I struggle sometimes. And also by respect for my neighbours, I didnt want too much noise.

@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection swap the stickered pannel out and put on the side where the filters are, or leave it, as i think it will still make a nice back drop 😊🙏🏻😊 yes the bottom will not be seen as much but the top is great 👍🏻 😊🙏🏻😊
Great job Lau try growing an orchid in summer as they don't need soil n look beautiful imo. Your channel ticks so many boxes i was thinking too lol 1. A nice french person 2. A female ponder/diy-er n 3. A pump fed system. No offence intended it just made me giggle when it popped into my mind 🤣. Im going to hard pipe my two retro drains in the spring after watching your last vid. Keep em up 😊👍🐟
Hi Rich, you so make me giggle :-) Only 3 ticks?? hahaha
That will be cool if you hard pipe you retro bottom drain. Just make sure you use swept elbows or 2 x 45 degres everywhere as if you put 90 degres elbows, it reduces the flow and puts a lot of pressure on the pump. But as you have seen, it's working and you have a nice Nexus and a bid filter so amazing.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection hehe yeah 🤣👍 thanks Lau I've noted this for in the spring. Take care 😊🐟
Lau it's going to look amazing in the summer 😍
I can't wait when they are plants everywhere in that planter. And if they flower, I will be so happy 😊
Another nice video Lau 👍
Stay safe.
Thank you guys. Hope all is good your end. Awaiting for your next video! :-) Stay safe too
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection All good here thanks.
That looks really good Lau. It will be interesting to see if it has much of an impact next year.
Thanks Jim, it's such a hard one as I start with high nitrate in my tap water, 20mg per litre, so it's a Nitrate is a tough one to tackle for me. BUt the plants can only help.
Dope Bog filter... very beautiful as well... thanks for explaining that connector in detail... i'm always unsure if the rubber is in or out...thanks for Sharing Lau magro... Installing a Bog filter to handle the Nitrates is on my radar...
Hi, excellent, glad I could help. And thank you for watching. Just subscribed to your channel. 😉
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection oh Woow…. Thank u so much appreciate you….
Great job lau plant's soon grow nx year keep safe takecare 👍
Thanks Dave, I cant wait!!! Rachel calls me my little jungle :-) I love it.
Your pond is looking really good. I'm getting lot's of inspiration for starting mine (hopefully) next year.
Hi Alan, thank you for the kind message and that's great. We are quite a few on here so I am sure you can pick up ideas from a lot of people. Good luck with the build next year, it will be great! Excited? DO you know what you are going for?
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Thanks for taking the time to reply to me. I'm currently doing all my research and working through all the names you and a few other mention (James the koi whisperer, Eden Koi, Budget pond keeping, Dazzle koi etc) and watching all the videos from the oldest to the newest, to pick up all the lessons learnt. I'm hoping to dig down a bit and do a raised sleeper pond with a window, box weld liner with a bottom drain. I've still got to decide on filtration, but it will be budget dependant.
@@alandowden8165 So very similar to mine except for the bottom drain. All I can say is go as big as finance allows you too, not only for the build but also the bills for water, electric etc... And my second big advice is, dont skip on your filter system. It's actually the heart of your pond, the balance of your pond, and what will keep your water and therefore your fish healthy.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Thanks, I'll certainly keep those points is mind.
Nice video Lau enjoyed watching :)
Hi, how are things your end?
Thank you again, much appreciated
Love it Lau. I’m in the middle of a nightmare pond build that started back in July. (Cowboy pond builder now gone). Anyway, I’m thinking of doing something similar so great to see your video. 🤗
Oh dear, sorry to hear that. What happened?
Oh Lau, it’s a long story involving ripping me off, blowing my electrics, giving my koi fluke, shoddy work, plus lots more. If you are interested in hearing it i can on message you the whole sorry tale but don’t won’t to bore your subbies. Anyway, I’ve now found someone else who can complete the build so hopefully 🙏 all will go well from here 🤗
So annoying as it’s something I would have tackled myself some years ago but I’m now a 62 year old woman cancer survivor so not got the energy anymore. That’s why I so admire you
@@busyb1504 Bless you. I am sorry life has thrown that at you with cancer. As for the so called builder, what a nightmare. Yeah email me laumagro.photography@yahoo.co.uk
Great job lau. That should really help with your water parameters next year 😬
Thanks Andy. Hoping that the nitrate will be knocked with the plants. But I start at 20mg per litre in my tap water so hard one.
Nice job Lau, 👏
Thanks a lot :-) Hope you are doing OK Dave
Thanks doing fine.
Great job Lau.
Looks good now but will only improve come next spring & summer.
Cheers 👍
Hi, thank you :-) I cant wait to see a decent amount of plants and flowers in the bog filter next year. Hope you are both well
All your accomplishments in the hobby are just incredible 🙏🙏🥳 Bright skin on your Goromo and nice body on your Gin Rin Chag.
It's just a new build :-) lots to do around the garden now but that's for next year? Going to rest and vegetate during the winter :-)
I was trying to find a way to contact you by email or messenger or whatever.
Hi Lau did you get my email?
@@KoiRun50 hmm. no I didnt get it. laumagro.photography @ yahoo.co.uk

Thanks speak with you soon.
And another great innovative idea.. I need something like that if I can find some space?😉👍
Thank you Andy. You could put one at the corner, left side of your upside down aquarium, resting on both walls. 😊
nice build Lau
Thank you Paul. It's working really nicely, I am happy 🙂
I love it 👍
Thank you! And thank you for watching
Plants on a pond filter system you cant go wrong Lau nice thing to add
You taught me that 😉 it's because of your amazing big filter that I decided I wanted something with some plants. But Martyn, my tap water nitrate is at 20mg per little. It's madness. No wonder why the plants this summer were growing like mad. I just hope that the plants will help a little bit.
Good job, cheers lau 👍
Thanks Richards, as always.
Hi Lau where did you get your bog filter box from looking to make one, thanks Les
Hi Les, they were fiberglass planters originally. I got them on the Marketplace. They were blue originally but I lightly sanded them and spray painted them in red.
Hi can you tell me what the plant is in your shower filter please. X
Hi Maureen, the plant has got 2 names. Baby's tears or Mind your own business. (weird name I know but it's the most commonly used).
But to the mud fertiliser which doesn't leach would of been contained within the hessian sack ( La Sack Magic) 😂 But I'm sure plants will thrive either way. 👍
I am one of those who wont have the water in contact with soil.
Looking good 👍
Thank you! How are you doing?
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
Hi lau , fine thanks mate , yourself keeping well , haven’t been doing much to pond to cold lol , got a slight leak around skimmer , noticed water level dropped just below the skimmer , and can feel a ridge in the fibre glass , don’t know why that has happened , I’ve bought some fibreglass repair , but will wait until summer time now , don’t fancy standing in that up to my neck in freezing water 🥶
@@MyPhilw can you put some CT1 for now? or is it too awkward?
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection yea it just going into the skimmer mouth , so I’ve let water level drop just below that , it will be ok until summer comes , I’ll see if this stuff works , hopefully will do the job , it was fibreglassed 8years ago when inbuilt the pond , so not sure why it’s done that , was even looking on internet for some one that does fibreglass around this area , north Kent , south east London but couldn’t find anyone , the guy that did mine is now retired , it’s a never ending job for us koi keepers 😂
@@MyPhilw Tell me about it! I was thinking, you sure it's the fiberglass and not the plastic of the skimmer that has cracked?

Your bog filter would have worked better if it overflowed from the top rather than it flowing from the bottom
