BlueSwampyCraft well using the bathroom is perfectly natural as well, yet I don’t see any videos on that topic being made. No one other than you, your husband or doctor should have to care about your body.
The main reason people hid their pregnancies for so long was because miscarriages and stillbirths were so common, not really because people were ashamed of babies or a mom's body. Before recent times we really didn't know the cause of many miscarriages because we didn't have technology to figure that out. Even now many women wait until they're 13+ weeks along before saying anything because miscarriages before then are just so common.
Not entirely I suppose, I think it was the time when babies with deformities were common and bc of that, many died young but yeah, it's a surprise they were even born.
@Agatha jay also should cows and pigs and dogs and cats and goats and every other mammal wear a bra?? No?? Can men show there nipple?? Yes?? Why are human woman any difference than every other species and sex
@Agatha jay yew, we shouldn't wear clothes actually, it's undoing nature and (if you're religious) covering what god created, also for woman is better because her ACTUAL sexual body parts need to air out because warm moist places is wear bacteria grows
I had no heartburn with my first son and he had more hair than I did lol second son I had heartburn and he was balder than a cue ball. Not sure how true it is but I loved the video!
It was sold in 46 countries but not in the US. It didn’t get FDA approved. Despite that an estimated 40 babies were born with thalidomide related deformities in the US, according to the New York Times, and a quick google search.
I remember that i was once in Paris with my father and a man walked and had an arm much shorter than the other and his fingers were all deformed, it must've been in 2011 or something and the man looked like he was in his 30s.
My grandma didn’t know my mom was a twin until two days before she went into labor (this was 1952). Could you imagine??? I am pregnant right now and I’m even amazed at even the updated equipment that I have that my sister didn’t have with my niece 11 years ago!
I don't get why they had to hide pregnancy when it's a time where the mom-to-be looks absolutely gorgeous. Idk there's just something so warm and wonderful when you see someone carrying new life.
Amazing how it appears that society seemed somewhat ashamed of pregnancy or felt it was better to hide it or be very discreet about it when God calls it a blessing and I can’t grasp why you’d need to be discreet about something that is the farthest thing from vulgar... Side note: all these mamas to be are gorgeous. Pregnancy pillow has done wonders for my comfort at night (my insomnia lessened but I’m so freaking comfy). I don’t think I developed any MORE stretch marks during pregnancy. And shout out to prenatal vitamins for my lucious curly and healthy hair
Pregnancy is proof that you had SEX! LOL. Some people back then liked women to have the appearance of purity and virginity, even if they were married. Some people in society have hang ups about sex even to this day. I'm speculating, but I think that is what was going on.
@@emtims1670 A woman got pregnant. She was a virgin. She injected his DNA in herself. That's not a very pleasant process, but her daughter is so smart and cute. Toddler's grow up so fast.
Vitamins help, but it's really the progesterone that gives that glow. The vitamins just give the hormones something to work with, to give it that extra 'oomph'.
60s Doctors: Don’t worry alcohol is fine Pregnant lady: Alright Baby: *HeLp* Doctor: Well that seems like it’s your fault why would you do that? Lady: Wtf
Yet old people will tell us our generation is too sensitive and we censor everything. Meanwhile a married couple on television back in their time couldn't be shown sharing a bed, there was outrage when an interracial kiss was shown on Star Trek, and most shows were super vanilla because of all the sensitive/bigoted people.
I had heartburn every single day of my pregnancy, from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep (if I slept). I had to have a prescription because it was so bad...my baby was bald AF!
Sophie Van der Meer Why are you leaving mean and dismissive comments on everyone’s post? This is a comment section, people share. That’s how the world works.
I never understood the dilemma with stretch marks, I had my baby 8 months ago and the worry had never crossed my mind, society seems so selfish and embarrassed by pregnancy. Pregnancy is a blessing! The only thing you should be concerned with is to have a healthy and happy baby!
I already have stretch marks without having been pregnant, so I expect I would just get more and that's it's not gonna be much different (stretch mark-wise)
Linds no not all pregnant women are beautiful. not all women are beautiful either. pregnancy is not some magical thing that makes people beautiful, it just makes them parents.
Sophie Van der Meer Incorrect. Beauty is something someone finds to be beautiful, ie charming, alluring, inductive of happiness. They find it to be beautiful, and so it is, for them. You don’t get to decide if something is beautiful.
morgz biggest fan ever That is true among the general population but in certain areas, teen pregnancies are still on the high in some areas. Like homelessness overall is lowering but it is still increasing in places like NYC & LA
@@randomgirl3492 I know, but I don't think she gets it. Let's say someone was afraid of snakes. I highly doubt anyone would tell them "Oh but snakes are great!!!111 It's so rewarding when you get to hold them!!1!11", and it shouldn't be different with any other fear. You can't just tell someone how great whatever their fear is, and then expect it to magically go away.
Living Dead Girl Well, why not? They’re still just trying to help, I’m not obviously saying it’ll make it go away but it could help ease their fear of snakes, like saying, don’t worry your regular garden snake isn’t venomous, or snakes don’t arrack unless provoked. It isn’t exactly the same analogy, being able to hold your newborn child awakens something in you, it isn’t just holding it, that’s over simplifying, and for most people it’s true. It doesn’t matter if the fear doesn’t go away, trying to help it a bit is still better than feeding into it. So maybe if it does happen, when they go through it they may not be as afraid. No one said it would erase the fear.
@@randomgirl3492 I guess. I highly doubt that they'd be ok if it did happen to them, you don't exactly face your biggest fear and are suddenly not afraid. But you and I can agree to disagree.
Felicia Exactly! Families need to stop pressuring people to have grandkids tbh. Income hasn't risen to meet cost of living in decades. Parental leave is near-nonexistent, daycare is prohibitively expensive, education is under-funded, and healthcare is so costly it's life-ruining debt. College is, too. AND access to birth control is under attack as well, to be able to make your own decisions about when/whether you have another kid. Above all, rhe political climate feels like there might not be anything to raise a kid in. Unless they're bankrolling it, they better get used to fur-grandchildren and showing off their great-grand-dachshunds 😂
Mia R. Depends on what country you live in. I live in Canada we get paid mat or parental leave. Our medical is also very good, they are working on making daycare more affordable for families, you are speaking more about the states. Which is so behind on this 🤷♀️
“Having Lots Of Heartburn Means Your Baby Will Have A Head Full Of Hair” That Term Scared Me During My Pregnancy Because I Only Had It Three Times. But When I Finally Gave Birth My Son Was Born With A Head Full Of Dark Curly Hair.
Pregnancy is pretty gruesome, don't appreciate how everyone tries to hide what happens to women's bodies it's scary AF and we deserve to know up front because I for one would never sign up for it.
Pygmy Puff :( why does having children have to put the mother through such a terrible process. Argh. I mean, pregnancy itself can be a relatively nice time, minus the morning sickness, but the act of childbirth? What the hell is that.
sparklyunicorn no one is trying to hide anything. frankly, we should be hiding a little more. Why is it a bad thing not to bother other people with what goes on in your body? but we just looove sharing nowadays don’t we.
Sophie Van der Meer My parents hid their pregnancy from me. I didn’t get to be excited for the arrival of my younger brother, or think of names for him, or imagine what he looked like. Neither did by siblings. All I got was an embarrassed call from the hospital from my parents, saying, “oh yeah, we had a baby”. I HATED that experience. For anyone reading this, don’t hide your pregnancy, or your partners pregnancy. It’s a beautiful, beautiful time, and it deserves to be shared.
Omg, the oldschool 1800s tampons are terrifying to look at, let along imagine how it feels to insert it... oh lord, I am grateful of what we have today.
Where's Ms Slick Woods, who did Fenty Lingerie's runway IN LABOR? That's every kind of progress and strength. Also thank you for using models who are pregnant and showing!!
Annika Heydl it’s not strong? Im with you in saying I don’t think her walking in labor is “progressive” (although being pregnant and wearing lingerie totally is.) But really that doesn’t show she’s strong ?? And I would also like to ask if you know how many women go into labor and don’t go to the hospital for hours or are actually instructed not to go until a certain point by DOCTORS. Not to mention those of which don’t even realize they’ve gone into labor yet. Are they careless too? There’s also the rarer case where the mom never knew she was even pregnant until suddenly giving birth! I literally know someone this happened to! But you’re right, soo careless to do her job!
After all the talk of "concealing" in the first clips, I was waiting for them to talk about the switch to belly-accentuating maternity clothes and elaborate pregnancy announcements
So you'd rather guess you're pregnant when you start feeling the baby move? Although weird, I think it was very useful for its time - otherwise it wouldn't be mentioned in physiology class. And the urine is injected inside a male frog's cloaca. If it starts releasing semen, not eggs, it means you're pregnant.
I wish the they would teach what happens after birth to women and girls at school , my hair fell out of the front and hasn't grown back properly in 4 years
Wow, this same thing happened to me with my second. 2 years in and it's a little better but I'm still getting a TON of hair fall as compared to pre-pregnancy. I've had all sorts of bloodwork done, they say I'm fine, and basically since I still have hair and it ALL hasn't fallen out, I should just get over it. 😒
Pregnancy is a great until you have to actually deliver. I had an emergency c section since his heart rate dropped and it took me about 6months to a year to finally be myself again
I've had all my kids vaginally and it too took me about that long to feel back to my old self again. It's a tough ride and pregnancy is only one part of the whole experience 😌
I'm 18 and want to get married and become a parent right now. It's almost more of a biological survival technic rather than me wanting to become a mom and wife. I've always wanted to be both but the urge is seriously strong right now.
I see a lo of people talking about breastfeeding in public being an issue, but i feel its only in the States maybe. I'm from Panama and here it's pretty normal to see a woman sitting in the park or in the mall breastfeeding her child publicly, and nobody stares at them like they were doing something bad, just a normal thing.
I'm pregnant now and I told my husband I am never doing this again. Complete body change; heartburn, always nauseated, short of breath, I get sick easily, and needles... I hate needles and theres so much blood work they want done (even though I'm glad they do it to make the baby is in check)
The "old wives" tale was accurate for all four of my pregnancies. I had heartburn sometimes for 18 hours a day for 6-8 months straight and all four of my children were born with thick black hair. Although, I did find that whole milk did help with the heartburn quite a bit.
What I learned from this video- do not use your tretinoin and your clindamycin when you are pregnant. (Hopefully when I am an adult I won’t need them but still)
I think it's because the effects of thalidomide were largely limited to Europe & Canada; thalidomide was never approved by the FDA in the United States, and thus only 17 cases of birth defects due to it were recorded. The video seems to focus on the US, being that they mentioned the baby boom.
Actually, Europe did have a baby boom, starting in 1946 for most countries. (Germany's started in 1955, but then it wasn't the soundest place to be raising kids right after the war.) And, yeah, I'm surprised they didn't mention it either--even if the numbers were small in the States, the fear wasn't.
DES was also a popular drug that came with lasting affects. Prescribed in the 1940s-late 1960s. I'm a DES granddaughter. They call it silent thalidomide
Rylee Johnson this is a little bit in how envy from the mother damages a child’s development: “ As the daughter analyzes what her mother appears jealous about, she comes to feel unworthy. It makes no sense to the daughter that her own mother would have these bad feelings about her. The daughter tries her best to make sense of the situation and decides that something must be wrong with her.” Source: www.psychologytoday.com/ca/blog/the-legacy-distorted-love/201310/mothers-who-are-jealous-their-daughters It’s important to treat your child with kindness and love. And this means treating yourself with kindness and love as well. It’s very likely you learned this from your own mother, to be taught to compare yourself to others. But you don’t have to, and you can break that cycle. Talk to yourself with compassion, and teach your daughter to do the same by treating her and talk to her with love. You deserve it, and she does to. As someone who grew up with a mother who often put me down, and often berated how I look over and over again, every chance she got, I can tell you that it’s completely destructive. It’ll only make the mother guilty, and it’ll shatter the self-esteem is the child. I hope things go well for both of you. Take care of yourselves.
Rylee Johnson Quite honestly, that sentence is not a very healthy way to think, at all. It very much signals deeper issues. I’m not assuming anything. I grew up with a mother who wanted to put me down, sometimes very harshly, and it was hell. No mother wants that for their child, but they often don’t realize the damage they’re doing. I’m sorry I was too judgement. I was in the receiving end of things and it’s not pretty at all.
I like how at the end they showed at what stage each model is at in pregnancy. Nice!

Even now many women wait until they're 13+ weeks along before saying anything because miscarriages before then are just so common.

Most affected were in other countries. I think this was talking about the US
It was sold in 46 countries but not in the US. It didn’t get FDA approved. Despite that an estimated 40 babies were born with thalidomide related deformities in the US, according to the New York Times, and a quick google search.
Maybe because this video is focused on the U.S. Thalidomide was banned there before it even came on the market I'm pretty sure.

I'm speculating, but I think that is what was going on.

the word "pregnant" is too vulgar for tv? I don't know what's worse, that or people being offended by the word pregnant! (sigh)
I saw a woman breastfeeding her baby in public and I found it really interesting. Yes, she used a cover.

@Awesome Lady You can't just talk someone's fear away, that's not how it works.
Living Dead Girl damn they're just trying to help

My husband didn't come out until 43 weeks because he's a lazy shite.

I hated being pregnant. I was that lucky .001% who actually took 2 years to fully recover from giving birth 😁 I'm adopting next time!
I'm pregnant now and I told my husband I am never doing this again. Complete body change; heartburn, always nauseated, short of breath, I get sick easily, and needles... I hate needles and theres so much blood work they want done (even though I'm glad they do it to make the baby is in check)
Jessica M Then why did you do it? I personally would love and appreciate every grueling second of it
The "old wives" tale was accurate for all four of my pregnancies.
(Hopefully when I am an adult I won’t need them but still)
I'm surprised they didn't mention Thalidomide
I think it's because the effects of thalidomide were largely limited to Europe & Canada; thalidomide was never approved by the FDA in the United States, and thus only 17 cases of birth defects due to it were recorded. The video seems to focus on the US, being that they mentioned the baby boom.
Actually, Europe did have a baby boom, starting in 1946 for most countries. (Germany's started in 1955, but then it wasn't the soundest place to be raising kids right after the war.)
And, yeah, I'm surprised they didn't mention it either--even if the numbers were small in the States, the fear wasn't.
Shealyne Anglin it’s a birth defect and infants who had it had no arms legs etc
DES was also a popular drug that came with lasting affects. Prescribed in the 1940s-late 1960s. I'm a DES granddaughter. They call it silent thalidomide
Was thinking the same
Guess I can’t look in a mirror when I’m pregnant.
My daughter's waaay prettier than me. Life isn't fair...
Rylee Johnson this is a little bit in how envy from the mother damages a child’s development:
“ As the daughter analyzes what her mother appears jealous about, she comes to feel unworthy. It makes no sense to the daughter that her own mother would have these bad feelings about her. The daughter tries her best to make sense of the situation and decides that something must be wrong with her.”
Source: www.psychologytoday.com/ca/blog/the-legacy-distorted-love/201310/mothers-who-are-jealous-their-daughters
It’s important to treat your child with kindness and love.
@@zain4019 way to assume a lot.
Rylee Johnson
Quite honestly, that sentence is not a very healthy way to think, at all.
