Here's what I don't get ... we've used Breathalisers in Europe since *1967* , for 56 years. they're cheap, and give you an accurate reading of blood/alcohol levels in 10seconds. Why are these not used in the US??

The female police officer is so good at her job. She’s patient and treated her with respect the whole time, explained everything so thorough, and managed everything so calmly.
The only error I noted was in the walk-and-turn test where she counted 10 steps instead of nine. Most drivers suspected of DUI also count 10 steps each way. Still, I did see her noticeably trying to keep her balance which told me she was drunk.

💯! This is a real problem! There're so oooooo many uninsured and unlicensed drivers where I live that insurance companies upcharge like crazy because they know chances of you getting hit by an uninsured driver are so high!

I was young and got a dui and the adrenaline of being pulled over woke me up out of the blackout for 5 minutes. I don't remember before or after the stop but I remember being stopped.

The defending atty won't be able to say she took a test on a hill making it hard for anyone, cannot say she wasn't given chances and definitely can't say she wasn't treated with respect. You are wrong, of course... Most roadside tests are unconstitutional and have been ruled as such by courts. Most of those roadside tests are only valid if conducted by a doctor and even then aren't necessarily indicative of substance abuse. Also... the female cop can't count.... 1014, 1015, 1015, 1016... I understand she's drunk but there's a lot of people with hearing loss and you talk to them on a day to day and they never tell you. There are people who read lips ad there are people who will smile, laugh, and nod without having understood a word you said. It's a silent battle
I am wondering what made them certain she was drunk and not suffering a concussion or other brain injury from the accident? I didn’t see a breathalyzer done before arrest or a medic check her. In this case she was obviously eventually confirmed to be drunk, but just curious why they went that route without ruling out brain injury which might need immediate attention or doing a breathalyzer at the scene to confirm suspicions.
Because medics can't perform an MRI on the spot. All cops can do is check for intoxication. If she'd sustained an obvious head injury (cuts, open wounds, bleeding, broken jaw/skull, etc), the hospital would've probably done a test or two. But since she appeared unscathed, the hospital more than likely did their routine exams done on criminals who might be injured. They obviously did x-rays later on.
She almost certainly got away with things as a teenager by playing the "I'm only a minor" card, and she's hoping the current trend of infantilizing college-age adults will let her continue playing it

I was impressed with the way the policewoman questioned the offender and the tone of voice she used. It was respectful yet she was still able to elicit all the relevant details to detain the offender and bring her back to the station and be charged. Well done I wish more US police took the same stance when investigating crimes.

IKR, either they get away unscathed or with minor injuries like this girl, she had a broken wrist. When you see her car though, you would think she would be a lot worse off!!! The Firedept found her to be fine even if she did complain early on that her wrist hurt... But the EMS guy didn’t really check her that much, it seems. Seemed like he was pretty happy when he had checked her pulse ox and BP. Then later she must’ve complained at the PD, as she was taken to hospital and she had fractured/broken her wrist and got treated for that before they took her to the jail. She must’ve been quite intoxicated not making a fuss over being handcuffed with a broken wrist!!! Just saying…

She assessed the situation; she deescalated the situation with the couple; she did the tests properly and admitted they were on a slope moving to a more straight and stable surface; she spoke to drunk lady with respect; she answered her questions and explained why the drunk lady needed to change cop cars. This female cop was absolutely perfect in the way she handled the situation. Kudos to her! Great job! If the d.a. looks at this tape, those charges are going to stick. The defending atty won't be able to say she took a test on a hill making it hard for anyone, cannot say she wasn't given chances and definitely can't say she wasn't treated with respect. No rights violated in this case!!
You are wrong, of course... Most roadside tests are unconstitutional and have been ruled as such by courts. Most of those roadside tests are only valid if conducted by a doctor and even then aren't necessarily indicative of substance abuse. Also... the female cop can't count.... 1014, 1015, 1015, 1016... I am wondering what made them certain she was drunk and not suffering a concussion or other brain injury from the accident? I didn’t see a breathalyzer done before arrest or a medic check her. In this case she was obviously eventually confirmed to be drunk, but just curious why they went that route without ruling out brain injury which might need immediate attention or doing a breathalyzer at the scene to confirm suspicions.
Head injuries have obvious symptoms. In fact, she mentioned that she has a history of a head injury and she has to take medications.
Because medics can't perform an MRI on the spot. All cops can do is check for intoxication. If she'd sustained an obvious head injury (cuts, open wounds, bleeding, broken jaw/skull, etc), the hospital would've probably done a test or two. But since she appeared unscathed, the hospital more than likely did their routine exams done on criminals who might be injured. They obviously did x-rays later on.

I was impressed with the way the policewoman questioned the offender and the tone of voice she used. It was respectful yet she was still able to elicit all the relevant details to detain the offender and bring her back to the station and be charged. Well done I wish more US police took the same stance when investigating crimes.

Happy to see someone I share a background with doing well in what they do, and she’s the last person I would’ve ever thought to become a cop. The Firedept found her to be fine even if she did complain early on that her wrist hurt... But the EMS guy didn’t really check her that much, it seems. Seemed like he was pretty happy when he had checked her pulse ox and BP. Then later she must’ve complained at the PD, as she was taken to hospital and she had fractured/broken her wrist and got treated for that before they took her to the jail. She must’ve been quite intoxicated not making a fuss over being handcuffed with a broken wrist!!! Just saying…

And he tried to drive the cart down, but he of course lost it and it ran/tumbled down the stairs, with my friend in it. I ran after it, I was sure my friend would be really injured!!!
