Thank you for sharing your experience as this could be very helpful for newcomers. Regarding putting your kids in the majority instead of minority schools, I do agree with you but honestly, you do look Canadian except that your English accent is a bit British which makes sense because you are from beautiful South Africa, but in the other side there are some families that look very different to the majority group in Canada, so parents do feel a bit concerned for their children to be left out or even bullied by the other children, even though Canada is well known for its warm welcoming society. In the end, moving to a different country is not a piece of cake and everyone has their own challenges, and sharing it with each other, helps the process to be much easier.

How is that transition handled? I look forward to hearing from you. I would like to understand that. Regards, NT
Nqabakazi Tetyana molo Nqabakazi! Pleasure - good question! As an example, our girls where in grade 6 and grade 8 when we left SA in Dec/Jan. They started school here in March (which is at the end of a school year here (second semester)). They both started school in the next grade which was 6 and 9 respectively- and completed their grade in 4 months. So from March to June! My eldest who started grade 9 started high school and so she was given a credit for Afrikaans since she has never done French. My youngest did French and passed (it’s the second language here). There is a lot of help along the way but what is amazing is that when you register your children with the respective board you belong to such as the Halton District School Board for those living in the Oakville and surrounds or the Peel District School Board for those living in Mississauga etc. each board has their own welcome pack and meeting day to welcome you and assess where your kids are at and what is required. They will point you in the right direction !!! So really amazing and no need to worry. Hope this helps. As an example of what to expect go to : www.hdsb.ca and search for welcome Centre and see what comes up!

I am curious as to why you chose to move to the GTA? My parents came here in the late 50s and I was born here. But I would not choose to move here. Too expensive. Too disjointed. I truly don’t understand the appeal. Yes, there are jobs but not sure what else it would be.
It’s all about where you get a job! The GTA is a hotspot for tech, banking etc…. For many immigrants, these things don’t even feature if compared to what you had or where you’ve come from (violence, war torn, third world etc). We have subsequently moved out to the most beautiful little town -- Niagara on the Lake after living in Canada for a few years now! Thanks for the comment!

I'm curious. I visited my friends who live in Alberta (up in Fort McMurray) in December with my son. My son loved it there and didn't mind the snow. I was like a child with candy seeing such a different world. So I'm doing research. I'm glad I found your channel.
I’m 15 and l live in South Africa but l wanna start a new school in Canada 🇨🇦 are there any challenges for a 15 yr old in grade 9 there like ‘Mathematics’ ??
It honestly varies across the country. I came in high school and the math was a lot easier than SA. My teacher was surprised by my performance as I arrived near the end of the school year.
Hi! I've just turned 22 and recently married, wanting to move to Canada. Do you think it's a good move as we've also started our own marketing agency which is fairly successful. What was the process you went through?
it is a great country to immigrate to, one of the best countries in the world.
so true!
Good idea.
Hi,
Can you please tell me which Oakville middle school(grade 5,6,7,8) has a good girls rugby team?
Thank.
Hi - this is interesting... as far as I know schools do not play rugby at school in middle school, only from high school. I am sure you can though at club level. Contact : Upright Rugby - Mr Leggat (girls sevens rugby) or search Crusaders Rugby club and they will point you in the right direction.
Thx a ton😊

@@AndreavanNiekerk Awesome, my son just moved to Welland and is so happy. I have told my boys that they need to get out of the grasp of the GTA. Niagara on the Lake is beautiful and you still have the option to travel to Toronto if you need/want to. Welcome!
What challenges did you face when you immigrate to Canada? ruclips.net/video/9TX-b-YcS7U/видео.html

I thought Australia would be the the place for South Africans of European descent, why dont Afrikaners move to the Netherlands.

Could you comment on the tax system, healthcare and health insurance if you have a chronic illness and need chronic medicine, car expenses and insurance, housing expenses. Would appreciate it.
Hey Keaton. Sure. I am dropping a video in the next 2 weeks on all the financials (I am interviewing an actuary who will answer a couple of questions relating to all of this stuff). Yay right?
@@AndreavanNiekerk Wow, thats brilliant! For me its either Australia or Canada at this point, with preferring the former.
