      there is the classic store
      let's call it 1.0
      products almost never change
      the owner chooses the products
      it is boring
now, there must be a new store
      let's call it 2.0
      products always change
people choose the products there will be via an app
on the app, there is a huge catalog, people choose the products that will show up in the store
the store is constantly being supplied with the products people chose.

Red peppers are more ripe than other peppers. They're all the same plant. It takes longer to ripen, so they cost more since they can keep replacing green bell peppers and grow more in the same timespan. Thanks for the look at grocery prices. We are about to move to Toronto from the US.

I live in south-west Ontario. To all who watch this review: don't get your hopes up that stores as good as this are in all towns. This store is only in major centers like Toronto or Ottawa and is an upscale store chain owned by Loblaws. Most grocery supermarkets do not carry such a variety of mushrooms, for ex., just 1 or 2 types. Especially Walmart has much less variety than other stores like Real Canadian Super Store. They have even shut down their deli counters.😡 And the discount grocery chains, such as No Frills (owned by Loblaws), are the same but prices are cheaper. If you want the variety shown in this video then go to dedicated fruit/veg stores like Longos. Also go to farmers markets when they are open in the spring/summer.

I shop at Longos too which is just across from fortinos. Would you be able to make a review one day on Longos? "Why are red peppers more expensive...?" The difference between a green pepper and a red/orange pepper is two (2) weeks. They all grow big as green and then turn yellow/orange/red over the next few days. At the same time their taste evolves better. But a farmer can grow more fruit in that time with an earlier harvest and make more money. So it costs more for the farmer to wait an extra 2-3 weeks. Lately they are selling packaged peppers in 3's or/yel/red and separate greens. Greens are still cheaper/lb/Kilo but the colourful ones are not so bad. 3 peppers in a bag is about 1 lb and taste better.

Hey so you asked why red peppers are more expensive. All colors of bell peppers are the same variety. If they harvest them sooner they are green, then they become yellow, then orange, then red. So you are paying for the length of time they take to grow.

If I could go through a portal I would go shopping in Sud Afrika because the prices are cheaper for the most part and I think the meat is tastier. The video is awesome, I find very curious to check supermarkets from around the world. Something that shocked me is the absolutely gigantic amount of products that needn't being in packaging and are just surrounded in plastic. It's massive fridges of plastic and not products! Aren't there any policies in Canada about disposable useless plastic in supermarkets and restaurants, for example? It felt frightening as I watched the video.

Excellent video. I've just found your channel and subscribed. Just one comment. Maybe the higher salaries justify such high prices in almost all the items shown, except two. Compared to Mediterranean countries, the prices in a Canadian supermarket are at least twice as high. A kilo of quality mince beef costs 7-8 euros, and a whole fresh chicken costs €2.90/kilo. The only items which are cheaper are the eggs and the potatoes, for some reason.

The higher wages here are not enough for people living on minimum wage (and a lot of employers love to pay minimum wage or only slightly more). I'm seeing a lot more homelessness than I've ever seen before. Housing prices are ridiculous. A 2-bedroom in my area, which used to be one of the most affordable cities, is now about $1,300 for a one-bedroom apartment. 😳

Hello Lisa! We moved through my husbands company.... but made use of an immigration agency called Canada Abroad. Make contact with Werner, let him know I referred you - such great people!

Nicole Carr great, I thought so too. Regardless I think that it is expensive for the average South African to pay those prices on a South African income!! Also the denominations freak me out....it just feels crazy expensive to say I paid R35 for a coffee!

Andrea van Niekerk hehe yes exactly! The cost of living in SA is very high considering our average income levels and low standards of service delivery etc
