Andrea thanks a lot to make these kind of interesting videos,,, Subscribed your channel and pressed bell icon so that I shouldn't miss a single informative video.
Red peppers are just green peppers that are allowed to grow for a longer period of time to get the color change. So Green____Yellow_____Red. They all start out as green
Red peppers are more ripe than other peppers. They're all the same plant. It takes longer to ripen, so they cost more since they can keep replacing green bell peppers and grow more in the same timespan. Thanks for the look at grocery prices. We are about to move to Toronto from the US.
EDITED. I watched your 6 things about school in canada. What about the STATIONARY, In SA as you know we have to buy the stationary, uniform (summer and winter) every year end, and cover them as well as workbooks sent from school. Thanks Andrea!
Oh I also wonder if you can do a video on how you, or other South africans cope with winter, I am really a sunshine person, and want to prepare mentally to deal with the winter, cloudy, snowy days, I was thinking craft room. Would love to hear about others experiences on this. Thank you!
One of my favorite grocery store. I especially love the hot food section. I live walking distance from fortinos and definitely it's one of the very best along with Longo's and Loblaws. I shop at Longos too which is just across from fortinos. Would you be able to make a review one day on Longos? It's Italian too and in my opinion a very nice grocery store which carries a large variety of food too.
Aaah so glad you love it! I love Longos too - their pre-made food section is INSANE! With Covid, it’s been so hard to shoot videos! Watch this space though!
Hey so you asked why red peppers are more expensive. All colors of bell peppers are the same variety. If they harvest them sooner they are green, then they become yellow, then orange, then red. So you are paying for the length of time they take to grow.
It is not the cheapest grocery store … there are others like No Frills and Freshco that offer great products too but without the perfect aesthetics, point of sale etc. the look and feel of these stores is nothing like Fortinos but you will save!
Here in Southern California we don’t have such a big supermarket with this many varieties, I will love to see that kind of grocery store or something like carrfur in Dubai everything under one roof with lots of varieties.
I live in south-west Ontario. To all who watch this review: don't get your hopes up that stores as good as this are in all towns. This store is only in major centers like Toronto or Ottawa and is an upscale store chain owned by Loblaws. Most grocery supermarkets do not carry such a variety of mushrooms, for ex., just 1 or 2 types. Especially Walmart has much less variety than other stores like Real Canadian Super Store. They have even shut down their deli counters.😡 And the discount grocery chains, such as No Frills (owned by Loblaws), are the same but prices are cheaper. If you want the variety shown in this video then go to dedicated fruit/veg stores like Longos. Also go to farmers markets when they are open in the spring/summer.
it's all started like play when my friend tell me about Mrs Nora I was having double minded, before i give her a tryer and I made huge profit out of it , she is really the best I have seen

@@AndreavanNiekerk As an Ontario native who lives now in California, it was amusing to me to see you tell all the SAs how cheap things are. Canadians don't think they are cheap (and of course there are places much cheaper than the US/Canada too, including many places in Africa.)
"Why are red peppers more expensive...?" The difference between a green pepper and a red/orange pepper is two (2) weeks. They all grow big as green and then turn yellow/orange/red over the next few days. At the same time their taste evolves better. But a farmer can grow more fruit in that time with an earlier harvest and make more money. So it costs more for the farmer to wait an extra 2-3 weeks. Lately they are selling packaged peppers in 3's or/yel/red and separate greens. Greens are still cheaper/lb/Kilo but the colourful ones are not so bad. 3 peppers in a bag is about 1 lb and taste better.
It's so surprising how you don't feel weird about people looking at you and just making a video in a shop, I guess people are truly laid-back in Canada for real. Australia vs Canada, 0 - 1 score to me.
Yes, definitely, very, very important when driving on Canadian roads in the middle of winter... You do actually need windshield washer fluid, and lots of it, like all the time! Along with the best wipers you can afford, of course. But don't get suckered. Windshield washer fluid is windshield washer fluid. They're all the same.
