How does the Sigma 35mm, f2.0, DG, DN compare to the Sony 40mm, f2.5, G in terms of the better buy? The Sigma is bigger (dimensionally), faster/brighter/ wider F-stop (f2.0 vs f2.5), and charts say sharper, with comparable price. Is it a better choice than the 40mm?
I have the 40mm F2.5 G and it's a fantastic lens. While I do prefer 35mm in terms of field of view, the 40mm is simply way lighter and a good deal smaller, but the optics are incredible for the size. If Sigma made this 35mm F2 in a plastic body, I think I would consider it. My issue when I had a 35mm F1.4 GM was that it was uncomfortable to wear around me as the lens wanted to drag the body facing downward. With the 40mm it doesn't do that at all.
Is it me or smt but a lens review video without actual photo samples? Why even bother? isn't the photo quality the most important part? It's weird you spent minutes to talk about lens hood and lens cap but leave out the photo quality.
Just a top down shot of the product is this creator’s format that is consistent with his other videos, (that I am fine with), so I wasn’t expecting photos, but I was waiting for him to get through all that and focus on the meat and potatoes of the lens, but that never happened. We know how he feels about where products are made, China vs Japan, vs Mars(lol), the various cameras he has owned and sold, (A7R ii, iii, iv), and his recommendations on keeping the camera dry. but these ancillary shoots are not central to the lens and stole the show from what could be a great buy. Questions I was hoping he would speak to: -lens distortion - Is it manageable? Do in camera corrections play nice with it? -what are the sun stars like- Can you get them with this lens? How far do you have to stop down? - comparison to other similar choices at this focal length?- Sony, Tamron, Samyang, Viltrox He doesn’t get into a lot of technical specs, but provides anecdotals
IMO the 35 1.8 blends nicely to the a7c camera as I care about the aesthetic. But if the aperture ring is important to you, this or the 40 2.5 would be the better choice
@@darrenhakenHaven't tried them before tbh. If you compare images from the two side by side yes I think you would see the difference. But personally, the .5 aperture and 5mm difference are almost neglegable depending in most situations. Just get what you want dude and enjoy it. I picked the 35 1.8 because as I've said, it pairs well to the a7c and I wanted that maximum aperture.
Thank you for checking out the lens, Ed!

@@Dave_Andredo you see much difference between the sigma and Sony 40mm?
Interesting you think the aesthetic of the 35mm 1.8 fits with the a7c!

👏🏻
you spent too much time talking about other cameras
I have to agree, a lot of banging on about stuff not directly related to the lens.
It’s just too big for an f/2
what? compared to what..?
Lol, perfect balance for that camera.
