@mjh5437 no he was accused underage sex with - as I recall- a girl.....if you know ANYTHING at all about the entertainment industry you would know most of them do/ have done/ did this Many groups have youngsters thrown at them almost literally after most gigs. I was in university entertainment and was too young to understand wtf was going on but creepy taxi drivers would usher girls in to changing rooms ....it didn't seem to me that the underage girls should be there but these pimps always knew the stage door staff...everywhere
22:51 the extensive set of spares isn't for breakdowns, they're there to prevent one, utilised in the same manner one would carry an umbrella to reduce the chance of rain.
Well, I would never have had a Rolls Royce down as a "practical" car, but that state one with a complete toolkit *and* spare parts is incredible! To think today where most cars don't even carry a spare wheel, let alone toolkit is even more remarkable.
I'm not much younger than Kerry Schroeder, but I remember being shocked as a kid when my father told me that Armstrong Siddeley were still making those cars in 1960. Compared to my Corgi Mercedes 600 they looked antediluvian.
I love that Bentley Continental and the Armstrong Siddeley . There is something with Brittish luxury cars no German or whatever brand car has , they have majestic presence without a whim of agression , allways sympathetic . Unique !
Unlike my XJ Portfolio, which looks downright aggressive from the front (and no doubt, in your rear view mirror)! However, inside, it reverts to typ; being like a London gentleman’s Club on wheels - with all the hi tech 21st century gadgets. My car does in excess of 155mph - but where can I drive.it like that, one has to keep in mind that if the needle is half way around the clock, it’s already. doing 90mph.
Many British motorcars of the 1950's were indeed stylistically old fashioned if not truly obsolete. But compared to more streamlined models, they were much more elegant, refined, and beautiful.
My 1965 Black/Black Jaguar Mark 10 has every bit of presence as these. And it does not leave an oil stain on the floor like the 'missing' Rolls Royce from the stable! Of course the 'Royals' used the DS420 for decades.
One is tempted to say "They don't make them like that any more (Thank heaven), " I owned a Bentley R-type, a fascinating combination of the archaic and the modern.
11:30 - The man nails it and explains why Bentley went out of business. 50 years on they are still making spare parts for a car that they only ever see maybe once every 10 years in the shop !!!
So good to listen to the great John Peel again...
It's great to hear, once again, the previously familiar voice of John Peel; it's been quite a while.
Wasn`t he exposed after death as having been a paedo? lol
@@mjh5437, you may be thinking of Jimmy Saville.
@@htolas No,Peel was too.

Great to hear JP's voice again.

Great description. Well done!!!
@@richarddyasonihc I would suggest it's perhaps more imposing than aggressive.

That tool kit in the boot was a work of art in itself.

It’s comforting to know that my 1973 British motorcycle also has Lucas electrics. Nevertheless I don’t ride it at night.
You'd expect John Steed and Emma Peel in such a vehicle!
Very interesting, i had a Armstrong Siddeley a few years ago, also i have been in the horse guards where some of this video was filmed.
The Dockers were like Lotto winners with more money than class.
How old is this video? 80s? I distinctly recall watching it and the incredible tool kit that came with King George's Rolls!
My 1965 Black/Black Jaguar Mark 10 has every bit of presence as these. And it does not leave an oil stain on the floor like the 'missing' Rolls Royce from the stable! Of course the 'Royals' used the DS420 for decades.

I wonder which car that Charly feller will be using.
That 1950s Bentley Continental was the original Bond car - read the books.
The music in the background sounds very similar to the opening theme of The Shining
When I were a lad my dad had an Austin Sheerline.
Mine too ! 1948 model
Works of art that could do 128kph.

When was this produced?
MCMXCIX….as it says at the end of the video.
That’s 1999…for the Roman numeral impaired.
Blimey MY car has a tyre pump as well !
12:22 So that's what TV's Oz Clarke looked like, before he lost his hair!
Home James - Don't Spare the Horses!
I'd rather see a document with Emma Peel.
Drive your Bentley as hard as you like, but make sure you have the money to pay for the consequencies... they are bottomless money pits ...
*Pure, unadulterated insanity!*
Mostly gossip. For non-brits this video is not interesting. There are plenty of much more serious classic English cars videos on YT.
Wankers delight!
Haha, no doubt. I'm a car dork so I appreciate coach built cars like these, but I equally appreciate your British sense of humor!
Can't be bothered with all that pomp and pointlessness
the brits love it..and are prepared to pay millions for it apparently.
WOW ! Those Dockers were classy weren't they....?
working-classy?
