      Why don't people put that rubber things up on cow's hooves in the first place, though, I wonder? (I mean, way before the cow would find a thing or two to hurt it's hoof with.) 🤔🤔 That would have saved up them alot of money, after all, and let the hoofguys sleep longer.

      @@KingFisheR00011 he's said in his other videos that the block is only there to elevate the hoof off the ground if there's an injury. Having the blocks on there all the time would only get in the way of the hoofs natural shedding process, or in this case, in the way of the hoof trimmer trying to get at the abcess inside.

      Calves are ready to go. They are squeezed out, become conscious (so to speak), start trying to get up. Then they start looking for udders, learn how to suckle, then they start jumping around. Small bit of attempting to buck. Such a beautiful experience to see cattle and what they do. Little bull calves start bumping heads, running around, sleeping a lot, drinking milk, etc.

    Question does the mother cow’s milk change when they pregnant/after birth for the calf? Or Is it the same as always? Love the content. 👍🏼🐮

    • @georgegrierson
      @georgegrierson 2 года назад +75

      The milk does change. It's first called colostrum which is like super charged milk for the new born.

    • @camillewood5741
      @camillewood5741 2 года назад +30

      Cows only give milk when they have a calf/are “weaning” so the milk you get is when they are pregnant/have a calf, it’s the same as far as what they sell in stores

      Collostreum...lots of additional fat and nutrients for a few days after

    • @NatetheHoofGuy
      @NatetheHoofGuy  2 года назад +165

      Yes it changes. The cows first milk is called colostrum and is packed with nutrients and antibodies to get the calf off to a great start. It’s important that the calf gets this colostrum as soon as possible after birth. This milk is only used for calves. After a couple days her milk is as we buy it in the stores.

    • @schwazman1
      @schwazman1 2 года назад +8

      @@camillewood5741 this is completely wrong. Milk cows produce milk every day. Regardless of whether they have calves or not. The milk itself is only different when they're nursing. After weaning, it's back to regular milk that we buy in the store.

    Maybe it is just me but I really appreciate this channel's ability to take my mind off other problems going on in the world. Like Russia's invasion and all the insanity there. These down-to-earth videos about the daily troubles of cow hooves take so much of that stress away. Cow feet started popping up for me just before the war and part of me wonders if RUclips's algorithm predicted the war and started pushing these chill videos in advance or something. Probably not, but still, the thought makes me chuckle a bit.
