- Inspired by the conventions of a boutique hotel, Kovac Design Studio administers an array of design elements that cater to its clients’ desires to have a modern house that celebrates the surrounds and can host friends and family. From the first steps inside, Madison Desert Club is deliberately designed to offer the feeling of being outside when moving from room to room. Imbued with space for the owner to entertain and unwind, Madison Desert Club rejoices in the landscape of La Quinta with an open floor plan and floor-to-ceiling windows and doors. Additionally, unique design elements are employed to enhance the home’s connection to the outdoors, beginning with a continuous canopy-style roof that is set over parts of the modern house, offering a change of light throughout the day. Another element seen upon arrival is the Oculus - a circular shape integrated into the roof, which allows for uninterrupted views of the sky above.
Spanning all three levels, the modern house tour begins at the lower level, where a sauna, spa and gym are placed. The above two levels hold the guestrooms, kitchen, living, dining areas and private cocktail bar. Expressed by its metal mesh curtain, the cocktail bar is imbued with warm colours that reference whiskey and give the impression of being inside a sophisticated space reserved for VIP clients. On the top level, a dedicated screening room offers a rare surprise when the screen wall opens up to the entire living space below. Designed to work just as well for two people or 200 people, the home is a collection of rare moments where the owners can celebrate with friends or find moments of peace.
Creating different spaces for the owners and guests, Kovac Design Studio flanks the main building with twin primary suites that are further complemented by private courtyards. In the guestrooms, the idea to use a different colour in each space gives the bedrooms separate identities. Additionally, the pink, yellow, blue and grey rooms offer guests a framed view of La Quinta’s landscape to enhance each of the rooms’ distinct experience. Furthermore, a large pool and spa area allows the owners or their guests to relax with a drink in hand whilst soaking in the Californian sun.
Alluding to the distant surrounds with its materials, the modern house is complemented with soft-coloured floors that reference the mountains in the distance, whilst a washed rough plaster is used on the walls both inside and out. Moreover, the various marbles and finished woods are a reference to the role Palm Springs plays in being the location for glamorous events such as Coachella. Intended to be open all day long, each space is finished with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and doors, establishing that no boundaries exist between the modern house and the La Quinta landscape.

This is easily one of the best houses this channel has showcased. I love the 70s 'mustard vibes' that they've revamped for modern audiences
It was 117 in Palm Springs today, with Poor Air Quality. Enjoy! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As a former resident of Palm Springs, interrior designer of two decades and a present UIUC architect student in grad school, I truly take my hat off to this design. It is spectaculor!
I watch The Local Project because I know they always have something unique and new in store. Things like this really spark my inspiration and I love it.
😇
It's interesting seeing the ways that American and Australian architecture differ. Not that this property is trying to be gaudy but the absolute excess is such a contrast to the more subtly humble videos from Australian architecture on this channel.
I hear your point, but the architects themselves mention that this was luxury design. So though I think there’s truth to your statement by even their standards, this is not standard design.
alot of what adds value to the Australian homes featured on this channel are their stunning settings...this one clearly has a beautiful setting but the home itself would stand out regardless of where it was in the world - and that says alot about who sophisticated the design is....and the overall screen that shelters them from the sun is genuis. The glare and extreme temps are not something to joke about there so it's great that they were able to create so many indoor/outdoor experiences that are actually usable in that climate.
I tend to agree. It's in no way a vulgar house, but the sheer scale (and budget) of it would be very, very rare in Australia. A good comparison is the Shaun Lockyer Mosman house featured on a previous Local Project. It has been called "the best house in Mosman" but it is positively modest in scale compared with this hotel-like residence.
has nothing to do with American vs Australian - you can find plenty of ultra-minimalist architects in the US
It's near the Coachella so I think it explains everything. More likely this property will be rented as expensive AirBnB
This is an ultra-mega home in the middle of the desert. Really love the design & space of this home! So magnificent! Thanks Local Project
besides the incredible design of the house; the photography, music choice, and storytelling, are just amazing
Glad you like it!
This is a true masterpiece.
palm spring houses never dissapoints!
Gorgeous home. Definitely the best one shot here in the US so far because, not surprisingly, it has many styling cues similar to NZ/AU contemporary architecture.
Wow, absolutely amazing. What an open space with great features and a lovely light feel.
That is one of the most impressive and functional houses I have ever ever seen. Well done.
This has to be one of the most interesting and well balanced projects presented. The light through out the day and how it comes through the roof is art in itself. As someone who stays in Boutique Hotels around the world you are spot on! I love most everything about the project! What time does the party start and what can I bring…? ;-)
Nicely done guys!!!
This one takes the crown, definitely the best I've seen.
WOW. AMAZING! So thoughtfully designed and absolutely breathtaking. Many fantastic features that work together beautifully. I particularly like the unique canopy that creates dappled sunlight -- which gives a feeling of nature to an angular, contemporary structure.
I 💘 this 100,000 times.
As a SoCal native this one really hits home. This is a remarkable work of architecture, and beautifully captured here. It's been great to watch the subscriber count for this channel grow, and deservedly so. Love these videos, keep it up!
Glad you enjoyed it Brian!
Well that's exquisite house if I ever seen one. Love this one.
Work of art
This is a jaw-dropping house! Not only is it gorgeous on the inside but that backyard is to die for! Literally looks like a picture from a movie. Just stunning!
That is a beautiful house so subtle yet distinctive and relaxed.
WOW! Everything about this - every detail - is so well-articulated, yet subtle. Wow. It's hard to choose one standout feature, but for me, it's the dappled-light canopies.
Wow exquisite work bringing together space light texture details functionally luxury.
Love it.
The video captured some magic
I'm obsessed
Us too..!
The forest canopy style dappled light is dreamy.
Stunning home. It is very modern but at the same time, warm in its colours and finishes and inviting in its layout. Your philosophy reminds me of Frank Lloyd Wright, who also designed his buildings and everything that went into them. Just beautiful. Bravo!
Glad you like it!
This is absolutely fantastic. I got chill all over! When they showed the mesh curtain, I audibly gasped. Such a great use of materials and colour. Stunning.
So glad!
best house I've ever seen. period.
This house is absolutely spectacular! One of the best designs I’ve seen… kudos to the architects!!!
Fantastic property. It feels like a luxury hotel or getaway while also feeling like a home; somewhere you never truly want to leave.
Unbelievably cool. Literally my favorite or second favorite house I’ve ever seen on RUclips.
Wow, thanks!
You knocked this out of the park ( golf course ) !!!
this feels like a house from a parallel universe
I agree

This is everything. So well done.

Lujosa y práctica para el uso que se le da. Es un buen trabajo. Enhorabuena¡¡¡. Gracias por la magnífica realización y por permitir que las interesantes explicaciones se escuchen bien.
My actual dream home
This has to be one of my most favorite homes ever. What a jewel. Thank you for sharing. ♡♡♡
You are so welcome!
Excellent job - looks amazing with some inspirational ideas like the oculus and the canopy that offers filtered light/shade and movement throughout the day.
This chanel has grown on me
🥰

Прекрасная работа архитектора и дизайнера это тот случай когда в проект вложили душу спасибо получила огромное удовольствие
I really, really thought from the intro til around a minute that this is a 3D model view. Man.. The overall area and visual looks surreal.

It's like Edna's zen version of her house from the movie 'the incredibles'
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

Beautiful amazing
Dream house ✨
to think we grew up right next to this, scraping by :p
Very cool.
Thanks!
😇
icredible🤯
I like it
ok. im sold. I want one.
Wow
Incredible!!! What is the material of the light filter canopy? Looks like a sponge 😅. But the shade pattern is stunning 🤩
Indian Wells < Rancho Mirage < Palm Springs < Cathedral City < La Quinta < Desert Hot Springs in that order of prestige.
Can we talk about that awesome canopy? What material is that?
WOW 😮😮😮😮
I like the desgin. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near music festival.
"It's about being away from your everyday." Except that I want this to BE my everyday. It's like living inside of art.
Unbelievable! What a spectacular and perfect combination of interior design and architecture!
Given the location, was there any consideration for including solar in a way that would not take away the inspired look?
😍😍😍
Did Kourtney and Travis buy this? Or just stay here. I recognized the kitchen!
Lots of references to Palm Springs yet this house is quite a distance away. If you want to leverage the Palm Springs brand/history then build there. LaQuinta is completely different vibe - it’s ok to embrace it.
Beautiful. What type of shade material did you use for that incredible light filter to provide shade outside but still allow some light to come in?
I'm guessing it has to be aluminium or copper panel, laser cut and then put into frames, if steel is used the problem would be rusting and corrosion, aluminium and copper would be the better choice to prevent corrosion and rust
@@pihermoso11 thanks. I live in the desert as well and the sun and wind destroys just about everything. So I'd love to do something like that also.
May I be conisidered one of your friends? I can be there this weekend!
MANIFIQUE!
There’s money and then there’s wealth. This is wealth. And it whisper.
To have the shift as the sunlight moves across the sky , I get it. In fact just before I saw the effect itsélf, I was thinking about that very same effect, that it the light should shift through the circular opening as you comé into the house, and I like the effect they created with the netting like effect and the way it plays the exterior of the home. But in the inside of the house, that would be very annoying.
can anyone tell me what happens if it rains?, will the rain just go through those "cellings"?? its such a nice casa!
What's going on with that roof? Looks great from the underside, looks like a maintenance nightmare from above. Super cool house, I want one. Tine to rob a bank or start a MLM scam.
Why do you think it's a maintenance nightmare? The only thing that could ruin it would be foliage but in that climate it doesn't really exist. There is no snow either and, it rarely even rains, it's a desert climate. It's very dry, sunny, warm.
@@mrvk39 typically a roof is designed to allow whatever falls on there to fall off. Rain, Snow, Tree branches, etc.. you get the point. This roof system has an exposed grid system to the top where you'd usually cover it in metal, tiles, polycarbonate or whatever. It's possible in this location it's not a problem. But typically for at least part of the year, you will have wind, you will have some rain, dirt gets stuck in a joint slowly causing issues and in this location, I'm sure the UV rays are punishing on whatever you throw out in the sun. So given the level of design rigour of this house and the extraordinary detailing I'm curious as to what is actually going on with that roof system.
@@ScottValentine fair points! Just having been to Palm Springs, I know it to be an extremely dry, desert environment where it doesn't rain often, but it does rain, of course. And typical desert vegetation doesn't have leaves or branches but who knows? Dirt and sand would certainly be an issue..
