Love the simplicity! This inspires me to try, to play, to enjoy.
Awesome
Great one again Toby, we loved the finished result.
Thank you! Cheers!
Didn’t mean to watch this but clicked on it and was riveted to the end. Thank you for these minutes of mindfulness and fascination! Just lovely 🤗🥰
I have never tried watercolour pencils but you have me thinking I need to try them :-)
I love the watercolor pencils. I have three different sets now. Faber Castell 24 set, Inktense 12 set, and a colored Graphite 12 set. I also use regular watercolor sets. I enjoy the pencils because you can use them for texture.
Wonderful. We started watching this and wondering where it was going. You pulled it together beautifully. It's full of texture and life. Your South of France fan club always Love your sheep 🙂
Could you leave a bit more time at the end of your videos for us to admire the finished painting. RUclips covers the screan with video propostions before you have finished painting and I never get to study the end result 😞
Thanks
Keep up the great work
I like doing this as well…thanks for the great tips Toby
I loved today’s tutorial, Toby. Thanks a lot! 😊
love this Toby. I have had a heap of watercolour pencils but never really used them - now that I am getting more used to watercolour paints I know their value. I even loving sketching sometimes with the watercolour pencils.
I appreciate your time and all that you’ve been doing to help us learn and understand the hows and whys to watercolours, your techniques and your urban sketching. This video is so helpful and sparks the imagination! Thank you and God Bless you.
I’m a color pencil artist mostly. I would lean on using watercolor pencils. Especially for plein air sketching. They are easy to travel with. I like using regular watercolors when in the studio.
I love watercolour pencils. I keep reaching for them when out urban sketching... first for the initial sketch then to add colour after the ink stage.
Amazing Thankyou Toby for this art demo.
Love this one! Thank you!

Had a set of DR for years, but never really got on with them. I always find them not very deep in their colour somehow. Tried layering, but it just lifts the original off most of the time. Now Inktense are something different and pretty good.
Lynn chapman in urban sketching book...she advises to carry wc pencil for a quick sketch.. standing. Found that very useful. However im more Gouache painter than wc.
I am more of a traditional watercolour user. I do not want to fall down the rabbit hole of buying endless supplies of watercolour pencils. I am saving that for gouache and watercolour sticks 😂.
Good frugal thinking...me too
@@sujanithtottempudi2991 😂 No, no, I am not frugal. I pay a lot for my watercolour supplies; that is why I do not want to start spending even more on watercolour pencils. 😂
Awesomeness! WC Pencils are just fun. I like all the WC mediums. Now, those puppies and a greyscale set of good WC Markers .... with my regular paints, I'm in heaven. Throw in that 10 set tin of Neocolor II .... whoooo hooo! It's a WC extravaganza 😅
Great sketch, as usual. Had fun watching and learning. Oh, happy fur baby Father's Day!
Hi Toby. Love your style of teaching. You have helped me immensely. Are you on Cara? I was telling someone a out your videos & they said they are also inspired by your work!
I am, sort of... haven't finished setting up my profile

Applying the color with the page still wet is what I didn’t do today. It was my first time with watercolor pencils and they didn’t quite behave like I thought they would. I wish I’d watched this video first. I put too much color on first and then through I needed to wait for the page to dry to apply another layer. Thanks.
Next time ☺️
Hi Toby,
If you were to stick to mybe 6 colours max and an ink pen , container of water , what colours would you recommend?
Im still leaning towards scribbling or doodling and minimal colour selection. The finished picture is mainly for my parte and I ( thinking A5 pad in side pockets on cargo shorts)

I was told in our stationer’s that you can’t get waterproof fountain pen ink. Which make do you use?
There are a few brands, check my supplies link in the description 🙏

First!
You were rather restrained today with your washes and paint 😄. Lovely painting, though.
Great video. But please don’t leave your brushes in the water jar. Ruins your brushes..
