I hardly go into Houston at all. Why do you need to when everything is in The Woodlands. Kind of glad it's a ways from Houston.
I've lived in The Woodlands for a little over 4 years and love it. There are so many parks and hidden gems that I still haven't been to all of them. It's a great place if you want to be away from all the congestion of Houston but still have a lot to do.
Came from the UK, been living in The Woodlands for 16 years. Love it, Nice homes also elsewhere but The Woodlands is the package. People from all over US and the World here
Woah didn't expect another Brit here, would you recommend moving there now? If so which village
The Woodlands is the best! Been here my whole life (almost 25yrs)! Can’t imagine living anywhere else.
I live on the Conroe/Woodlands line and I absolutely love it here. Absolutely beautiful area. The schools are amazing. I have one kid at Mitchell and one at McCullough and while the schools tend to be a little tougher and expect more out of the kids, the education that my kids are getting is well worth it. Beautiful area, we wouldn’t be this happy anywhere else.
@@brandon556 Doing awesome. I hope you’re well.
Been in The Woodlands 20 years. There were A LOT more trees back in the day lol
Thats everwhere they cut them down to build more
Not to mention hurricane Ike and that drought a few years ago. They have come back a lot since then
@@ColinBrazier And snow, believe it or not which demolished my daughter's car port.
We moved out of The Woodlands about 15 years ago so I could be closer to my parents and help take care of my dad and the area now looks so different. I know communities expand but after driving through recently it's more of a 'city vibe' now. If that's your thing you will definitely like it. But don't get caught up with the whole 'keeping up with the Jones's' whole way of thinking and you'll be fine😉
If Texas becomes the “republic of Texas” we are in. I lived in Houston when the woodlands was just being built. My dream if i had stayed in Houston was to live there.
Hey I lived in The Woodlands for 18 yrs. It has grown so much!!
Moved here last year. I love The Woodlands
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER take I45 leaving or going to The Woodlands during rush hours. The Hardy Toll Road is the ONLY way to go. Now once you get to Loop 610, all bets are off!!!
I live on the border of Spring & The Woodlands and I always take the back road on Gosling Road ... such a scenic route. Plus it avoids traffic. :)
Yep I always take the toll road even when it’s not rush hour. I’d much rather pay a little to not have to deal with the traffic on 45!
There is much more to love
since this video was made. We have Creekside Park Village Center that has lots of walkable shopping, restaurants and a center green with a splash pad beside it. Similar to Market Street and on the opposite end. Footbridge Path Pond is a popular place to walk and fish or just picnic and enjoy watching some wildlife. Just yesterday saw a beautiful large Great Blue Heron on the hunt for his meal. There is a nice long walkway around that pond that is just so relaxing. Near there is the new Pine Cove Park with ping pong tables, chess tables, cornhole boards, splash pads, basketball and 2 shaded dog parks that my fur babies love. Also has a huge tall play structure for the kids to climb.
Here’s some info on the woodlands from someone who has lived in magnolia and the woodlands since birth. The woodlands is very much an upscale preppy community. Everything you could need is in the woodlands and I rarely have to leave to find things I want. After a few short years there is not much to do other than eat at the same restaurants or walk the same parks. As many other people have said, the area is getting overcrowded and crime and disturbance has been going up with that. Magnolia, a town a few miles west of the woodlands has a very country upscale feel which bleeds into the woodlands area. The schools are good. The woodlands is not diverse in the slightest, but everywhere surrounding it is. It is a nice little community to raise a family but it can have a toxic atmosphere because everyone is always trying to outdo eachother with money. That’s all I can think of for now. If you have any honest questions just leave them below. It’s a good place with some downsides.
They also have Woodforest and other communities up Fish Creek that leads up to 105 that is basically blending everything together into the Woodlands. Looks nice and everything, but it's too cramped and suffocating for my taste. The only notable thing The Woodands has to offer is the Carlton Woods area...IF you can afford it.
@@jasonnichols8790 there are still many ranch style communities up towards that area however they are being bought out by neighborhoods like wood forest. If I were to buy a house in this area I would move west into the more quiet and spacious Magnolia.
I often paddle board on the lake to meditate and it is absolutely peaceful
4 years here LOVE it!!
What an informative content. Thank you for sharing this kind of videos!
I live in Spring which is like the DMZ between the Woodlands and the rest of Houston. There are a lot of great things to do in Houston, but it's a long drive (I-45 corridor or Beltway 8) through some not-so-great areas and you can even encounter traffic on a Sunday afternoon. The Woodlands is like an oasis in the urban wasteland of the greater Houston metro. It has a lot of cool things that I would otherwise go to Austin for, like a place to go stand up paddleboarding (Riva Row) good shopping (Woodlands Mall and Market Street are like the Domain) and great places to meet friends for a beer (you'll see more "chain" establishments like Baker St., not indie patio bars tho) and Woodlands Pavilion always has a good live music summer lineup, particularly when they have bands that I used to listen to in high school back in the 1990s
I watch your videos just to soothe my homesickness. I moved from spring two years ago. To Tennessee, I miss the big beautiful trees and roses and pines and walking barefoot without stepping on rocks...
I miss the warm and hot weather also..I never lived where there's true winter and fall weather.. I'm still adjusting..
I love Tennessee also.
I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, so The Woodlands would make me feel right at home.
So was I. Born and raised in PA. The Woodlands make it feel like home.
Minus the drugs and crime 🥴
The Woodlands is an absolutely gorgeous area. There are similar areas right in the city as well (e.g., the Memorial Villages area). I'll probably be moving to the Cypress area since it has better access to central Houston due to the rebuilt 290. Thought I'd mention that it's west Texas, not north Texas, that is deserty. North Texas, where DFW is located, is midwestern (sort of like Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa) in its topography. Anyway, thanks for yet another great video!
you bet thanks for the comments! Let us know if we can help!
Your video is fun to watch and informative, and I enjoyed learning more cool things about this community to the north. There's much to be seen and done there. However, as a life long inner-city dwelling Houstonian, I have always perceived the Woodlands to be a soulless, money-driven hellscape of corporate drones. There are always exceptions, of course. In the Woodlands and many other communities around Houston, it's all about who can drive the biggest, newest, least fuel-efficient SUV, take their 5 kids on the most skiing trips to Breckenridge CO in the winter, the most getaways to Aruba in the summer, have the most groomed labradoodles prancing around in their park-like backyards, the biggest fleet of immigrant handmaids raising their children, and the most elite private school bragging signs planted in their front yards. Owning a 4000 sq. ft. house that was built within the past 5 years is a huge bonus, too. Another favorite practice in the Houston area is to keep entire lakes and forests blocked away from the general public, to gate off entire communities, especially those adjacent to the most exquisite beauty, so as to allow only the owners of the property to enjoy them. Just my take after spending the better part of 35 years here, and another 12 in NM.
I’m in magnolia. Love it.
I appreciate the video.
Been here since 1993. Love it here.
Houstonian here. Spring school district use to be one of the best in Houston. Not anymore. If you are looking for good schools, more affordable homes than the woodlands and better commute to the metro area, Klein is your area. Cypress could be a better option if you work in uptown. 290 is much better since expansion.
Love the trees. Walk ways. High taxes. We moved to Tomball. Small tower. 15 minutes to woodlands / shopping great :::::: less travic
born and raised here. after living here all my life it’s like a cage. you see everything and realize the woodlands is not much more than nice parks, restaurants and shopping centers. it’s pretty hard to find fun things to do as a teen here. parents; i recommend this. it is a good place to have a toddler or a middle schooler. however when your children reach highschool they start searching for things to do and boundaries to cross. it might be time to leave then, and let your children feel an open sky in a still-nice place farther away.
I live in the woodlands but I find it boring I’m from the Midwest & I’m not that old. The woodlands is a nice place to raise a family which I do appreciate as a single mom. Although I like to go out from time to time & I always go to south Houston for a more urban crowd. I wouldn’t mind going out to a bar in the woodlands but idk where to go for a diverse vibe. Thinking about moving to spring, houston, or clear lake.
I’ve been living here 4 weeks now

I grew up living in the Woodlands had to move back to Louisiana wish I could go back
Hi,very nice video.watching from Humble...
"It's very diverse" is not in any way how I'd describe The Woodlands. The deed restrictions are nauseating. And the Karens! The Karens are real!
I grew up in The Woodlands. Diverse is not even in their vocabulary.
yes the woodlands is extremely undiverse and full of karen’s! it’s insane!
Where do I see the deed restrictions?
Sounds like you guys hate W women. Why not move to Detroit or Baltimore then?
I live is almost all white neighborhood. That is only because nobody else moves here! Some friends of mine finally move in and they are the only black family on my street. Just because a place is mostly white doesn’t mean others can’t move in and be welcomed.
Just moved here from California (escaping the absurd and worsening social/political/economical situation of Los Angeles). My wife and I could not be happier with our pick. I’m continuing my production work remotely and my wife is gearing up to continue her work here as well. God bless The Woodlands!
I am tempted to move there. I currently live in San Jose and this city is a dump.

Nice video. Is there flooding ever?
I live here. Love it
Plan on moving to the woodlands from Mass in a couple years... beautiful area. Great video!
Same from Portland, OR! Reminds us of Murrayhill in Beaverton meets Tualatin, but with so many other unique qualities and features.
Both of you, please don’t bring the liberal policies. Thank you.
Great Vid. Any huricanes or tornados there?
Hurricanes, yes. Generally TW is far enough from the Gulf that we don’t get hit hard. Ike (2008) traveled right toward us though so there was some damage. We’ll get tornado watches and sometimes warnings but I’ve never heard of any hitting here. Honestly, I can only think of one place in the entire Houston area, years ago, that got hid hard by a tornado. It’s generally not a risk here.
Looking at moving to the Woodlands area next year, your videos have been helpful. How soon would you recommend to start reaching out? Looking at March-June move date from California
You are already behind hahah!! Reach out let’s get you on the schedule and get a zoom call so we can really get you dialed in!!
Please be careful not to bring the bad politics to our town. You won't find a better town in the country. If you have children they will live it.

i wish i could afford living in such a beautiful area
I have lived in The Woodlands since 1988, and I can tell you, it's as beautiful as he has said it is. Not all homes are mansions. You can find very reasonably priced homes in wonderful communities here. Check out Panther Creek Village in The Woodlands. You will find smaller (1400-1800sq ft) homes for under $250,000 and the neighborhoods are just a pretty, but with smaller lots. Do your homework, and come on down!!!
Lol its 45 minutes to an hour on a good day. Traffic now is insane especially when you hit bltwy 8. Theres always multiple car accidents on hwy 45.
My wife and I have been looking at more at Katy. She is in the medical field I’m going back to looking at more auto dealer and motorcycle. I’m a big motorcycle rider and looking also for nice areas to ride backroads

Question? You were a realtor in CDA Idaho recently. You were with another realtor. You said you grew up there on video. Now you moved to The Woodlands Texas?
Live there
Dude, I looked at this and realized where I live
Any areas with at least half-1 acre or do you need to go north like Conroe? I like a home with land and guest/carriage house and inground pool.
Depends on your budget, but yes. If you see "cheap" land though, be sure it's not in a flood zone!
I would say go west into magnolia
Magnolia for sure
is there much for commercial leased building s in the woodlands. We are looking to move from canada down to Texas and need a space for our business as well.
Yes lots of commercial and retail
Oh it is gorgeous there! But of course it is for rich people and people who don't mind traffic.
If you consider 200k for a decent starter home rich I guess?
Dumb question : are there lots of butterflies in woodlands? How often do you see a butterfly and where do you normally see them?
That’s a great question
Yeah, big blood sucking ones... The Woodlands is full of mosquitoes. Some are as big as butterflies.
Does it flood here?
Awesome traffic

Depends on what part you are interested in. Conroe spans across a great portion of Montgomery County.
Conroe is boring and the further North you go, the areas get more rural.
@@QueenAshonti oh ok, thanks. I can scratch that area off the list lol

Woodlands or Florida? family with kids.
You can tell this guy doesn't think about the middle class.. he is talking about wakeboard boats (150 to 250k).. most ppl can't afford wakeboard boats.. "you get alot of house for your money".. I got 1800sqft for 100k.. and I'm 15 min from work.(I work in the woodlands.. gosling and woodland prky) by McCullough school.. the houses are 180k and need lots of work. Built in the 70s and 80s...
But if you have money.. the woodlands is awsome
The woodlands in very nice.. but you better make atleast 200k year to live.. houses start at 180k and that's for 40 year old house that is 1200 sqft..
Everything else is 250k+
The home prices are actually really good. Compare to the rest of the country. A home for 250k anywhere else will include drugs and murder at your front door.
@@raenaj4749 like you said.. compared to the rest of the country.. but to the area.. its expensive.. I get in ny you get 500sqft for half a mill.. but in Texas.. that's not the case
. So.. 250k for 1200sqft is expensive
@@huh4tofpv384 Well you are correct that the woodlands is more expensive than most of Texas
Affordable compared to the Mid Atlantic
@@parler8698 of course.. the mid Atlantic is ran by Democrats.. texas is ran by republicans.. taxes are cheaper.. now we do have property taxes that are high..
I ve never perceived houston to be so pleasant , I donno why certain people give a bad impression on this city
I grew up thinking that about Houston but I lived in the area for three years and the suburbs are super nice .
If you can put up with the heat in the summer, you will find Houston to be an awesome place to live. Best food in the world!! Best state income tax (NONE)! More opportunities for employment, education and medical services. Houston has the largest medical center in the world. Too bad we can't get our football team together.
Hi is Conroe a good place to live?
Yes it is!!!
Conroe is awesome, it's actually closer to the woodlands than a lot of "the woodlands" can be. Less traffic around my house and a little slower paced. Plus it can be a good bit cheaper.

West side of I45 in conroe is the place to be, or further into the woodlands area. I live out 105 and it's great. Not a whole lot out here right now but it's definitely developing. Be aware of the flood zones for sure. I just built a new house last year for 260, 2200 Sq ft.
@@zacht9805 do you know which areas are the flood zones?
So, this is a serious question...how is the dating scene there in Houston? I'm a single man and I have an affinity for Asian and Latin women.
Houston has more men than women. I think it’s because of the jobs we have. Oil and gas attracts more men so does tech. I’d say most single women in late 20’s and up have kids. When you hit the clubs/bars it’ll be like 6 dudes for every 4 women.
Well it’s a huge melting pot of ethnic groups. If you’re looking for a relationship with the specific groups you mentioned then it definitely has women of those groups.
You're in luck. The Woodlands has a rather hefty Cuban and Columbian demographic around there. Asians are here and there.
Is there a Costco in the woodlands
I wouldn't say "in" the Woodlands, but yes. It takes me about 15min from the front of the woodlands and up I45 north to 242. lol
There is one north of The Woodlands. The one we go to is in Conroe.

Q: Flooding in the woodlands is bad ????
Not diverse as the other person said....Some part of the Woodlands is part of Spring Tx pretty ghetto...Some neighborhood near the malls pretty old with big trees very dark and woody...and the 45 is a nightmare...Will never be living anywhere where your main highway is 45 and 290....You guys can keep your traffic...I rather stay in Sugar Land with newer homes and mostly no traffic...

Don't think the Woodlands is crime free. I was assaulted during the day outside of Dillards at Woodlands Mall a couple of years ago. Only had a very small purse and shoulder broken in multiple places. Lived for years in D.C. area and San Francisco Bay area and never experienced anything like that. My assailant was arrested .
Could have been a random thing, no?
There's been other crime there and is kept quiet.
It also has a rather increasing drug problem that's only seen within the underbelly of the school district. It's a dirty little secret that everybody wants to sweep under the rug. The Woodlands is not as innocent as it seems...
