You are right about this summer, it has been the hottest on record. Coming from someone who moved to Houston 4 years ago, the road rage/violent & aggressive driving is the worst thing about living here. The museums/culture/fun events are the best things. **EDITS** for the comments: 1. I have never seen a gator other than way across the water at a state park. 2. We treat our home monthly with pesticide bought at Home Depot...that takes care of the bugs. 3. I have only seen a tiny snake in my yard once that was non venomous. But out in nature, at parks, you have to be on lookout for cotton mouths, etc. They want to stay away from you, too, don't worry. 4. Heavy rain while driving is common. You will learn the areas to avoid. When it happens, I exit the freeway or pullover. The rain typically doesn't last long. Not every area floods. I live in Memorial area and it doesn't flood here. We *do* lose our power often!

I'm a native Texan, and I will say that compared to Houston 20 yrs ago, it has grown scary. Awesome city, but not all the scary comes from native Texans. Congestion, longer commutes, and the hottest year ever, are not helping. As a Texan, we are a friendly people, but I think we are being pushed into the edge of our patience levels. God bless all who live in the Lone Star State, and be respectful to one another.

I moved to Houston, from Cleveland, Ohio, back in '68. Houston has changed so much since I first arrived, but that's what I like about it. This is one truly amazing town. I LOVE the heat. After 50 years, I went back to Cleveland for a high school reunion. I'm SO glad I came to Houston. The arts scene in Houston is the BEST. We have the 2nd largest theater district only to New York. We have the world's largest medical center. Best of all, Houston's attitude is awesome. People are so friendly. We are the world's largest small town. Yes, Houston is an hour from Houston, but, it's a wonderful city. I live in Sugar Land, and life truly is sweeter there. Love my Houston.

This summer was brutal and I got tired of the heat but kept thinking about the cold and snow and this will beat that. But it’s hot!! The bugs are crazy! And yes look at the neighborhood and what you want out of a community before looking at homes. I’m in an apartment hoping to purchase a home in the next two years and this is the best advice. I’m a 9th generation Texan, and I am very curious as to why y’all want to live waaay out in Kingwood, Katy, etc.. your beat bet would be in Pearland Alvin or Clear Lake (that’s where NASA mission control is). Your car insurance is also cheaper outside of Houston proper. There are medical complexes everywhere, but the TMC is the number one medical center in the world. There is no fall here. August, September and going into November are the worst of the worst, plus it’s hurricane season until December. If y’all are bound and determined to move here, be sure you learn about the different terrains and the climates. Lubbock is a nice size city with an excellent medical center and where Texas Tech is located. College Station is also a beautiful mid side city, and home to A&M. As far as the EADO goes ( stands for East of downtown), it is in a gentrification process. My son has three houses there.Lots of flips there. The Height are lovely, but the priced have soared lately. The Montrose is also a fantastic area, it is the heart of LGBT community just remember HOuston is HUGE, we are the third largest city in the states. We have a true “melting pot “ of all ethnicities and cultures, and we love it! Good Luck!

There’s nothing to do but go to the mall, eat and drink excessively (explains all the obesity). There is no beauty in this city. Drivers are aggressive and my car insurance went up because folks can’t drive like courteous normal people. This place is super ghetto and dangerous with all the shootings that occur. I am however very happy to have purchased a newer home with an upgraded "thermal pkg" per Lennar. My bills have been actually cheaper than our CA house of 1500 sqft in the summer vs here with a 3500sqft/pool equipment this summer! Loving it here but yeah, the weather this summer has been brutal. HOT AF like you said, but now just dumping rain. Basically... no fun right now lol.

We live in the west Houston area, have a nice 4 bedroom house with a AC/Heat system newly installed (to replace the old one that quit completely) several years ago, the installers also sprayed foam insulation completely in our attic. Keep my thermostat set on 78 degrees F. Bill from Reliant energy averages only $155 per month during the summer, even less than that during the winter. Plus where we live, we've been safe (so far) from the flooding the Houston metro area is well known for, even during Hurricane Harvey the water never got beyond the sidewalk in front of our yard coming toward our house.

I’ve lived in three different states, but Houston is something different.
Terrible road, thieves, dangerous، shooting and people don’t respect the law! Even the best parts in it are bad!
    It’s also getting more expensive.
Not good place to raise a family.

I have been in Houston since 2013, the things to hate about Houston the traffic and if it ever floods outside of that you’ll enjoy the people the food and trust me you will never run out of stuff to do, when you think you’ve seen or done everything more people move here and more things pop up to do. Also Houston downtown is amazing the part of the city the man in the video is in is 3rd ward lol not sure why he called it what he did but maybe they’re trying to rebrand it because the area was a bit run down before the past 7 years when they’ve redeveloped it. The area is Amazing just know slot of social media influencers and mix crowds of ages and races go there and you would love it. I am from memphis Tennessee and now I am a full blown Texan and I love it and I work outside as a ups driver the heat gets to a lot of people but trust me you’ll have so much fun you won’t even notice it and summer time in texas is amazing come on down you all will love it.

I'm in Milwaukee, kind of sick of all the crime and democrat policies. Milwaukee and Madison are ruining this state. Thinking of moving to Texas, maybe Houston. I want to be near a business park with manufacturing jobs to avoid freeway traffic. How are the winters? I am sick of snow. Taxes low? I'm going to start watching more of your vids.

The fact that you think a diverse and Democratic voting city such as Houston will favor your wingnut tastes is hilarious. Maybe try a backwoods trailer town in Mississippi. Plenty of people just like you there.

I jacked my a/c up to like 75 during the days after we got our first bill in our new house in Kingwood and said the same thing as you about being excited about how much I was gonna save on the bill. Anyways the next months bill came and it was more than when I had it set at 70😡 we definitely need more attic insulation.

I appreciate all your videos! We are trying to move to Kingwood by June! We are coming from the PNW and I’m worried about fresh water swimming options, we have a river right up the road from us that we hit up a lot in the summer! It would be cool to do a video on local swimming spots…besides community pools, I’m worried about gators!

Lake Houston is part of Kingwood and gators are part of the lake, just a heads up 👍

Assume all fresh water in Texas has gators. Also. Assume all saltwater in Texas has gators. Yes gators show up on the beach. But don’t worry about the gators or even snakes it’s the ants and skeeters that get ya.

@@ryanupchurch9683 I guess my question kind of ran together with my fear...lol I realize there will be gators and snakes, I was just curious where everyone goes swimming besides local pools, like Devil's Waterhole, Lake Longhorn, TONKAWA FALLS etc, or any cool other areas to swim

I have a nursing recruiter who is working with me; however, I want to know about the transport and suburbs around the hospitals or nearby to help me decide if this is going to work for me. What type of entertainment and stores are in these suburbs and the culture of them.

West Texas seems like a hot dry desert and more border traffic.
Come to Houston where you have palm trees and no snow storms!

Midland/ Odessa is where the oil fields are. The air there makes my nose and eyes burn. The housing options are limited and expensive due to many places being geared towards short-term rentals for the oilfield workers.

midland texas heat is horrible and there are sandy storms , you have to wash your car everyday because it is a dusty city and oil ridges everywhere, thrash litters the city... and social life is dead. Just do yourself a favor and move to houston texas, better options and better school systems, ...:-)
