Parametric Art without a CNC!

  • Last year I stumbled across some videos showing the installation of a parametric wall. Every video I could find used a CNC to cut out the pieces from a sheet of plywood. I don’t own a CNC, so I came up with a way that I could create my own twist on the design with the tools I had! Over the course of a couple months I wrote my own software and made my first sculpture. This piece is the first time I’ve recorded the whole process.
Go follow me over on Instagram to check out some of the other designs I’ve come up with and check out some of the other things I’ve built over the years!

The software I'm using is one I wrote myself in Python. I'm currently not sharing my code though. I've seen other examples of people using a software called grasshopper though.

What is the yellow sanding disc you are using?

I picked them up on Amazon a while back. They have a hook and loop pad so it accepts a standard 5” sanding disk.
