if they were from the 90's this would be a fucking classic today
you know it.
Almost 10 years later and this song is still just as fucking brilliant. Massive!
2023 still on fire... ❤
It takes me back to those times 2010-2015
Sooo much wonderful music was created!
i don't care what they sound like. this is a masterpiece
I agree. How many great baritone voices in rock are there? A very well-written song also.
It's not just a masterpiece...IT'S AN INSTANT CLASSIC.I think this is one of the finest songs that the Editors have ever recorded. I also think the music video is one of the finest British rock music videos I have seen, where the imagery in the music video is in COMPLETE SYNCHRONICITY with the rock song audio. A totally Modern-British and Contemporary rock song and rock music video.

Fuck yes!!
I don't understand so many people comparing Editors to other bands...Editors are unique and I really appreciate this new beginning! The album is going to sound HUGE
Definitely
Feels like a supreme cocktail of Editors + U2 + Simple minds + The Cult, supremely shakered.
I definitely get 90s U2 vibes, this could easily have been a song on Achtung Baby.
I was thinking about The Cure and Goo Goo Dolls.
+ Morrison
Echo and the bunnyman
@@TheJubanne1 yeah, he definitely has Ian McCullough tones😎
The best U2 song of the last 20 years
Is it me or do they just keep getting better and better? the vocals on this are amazing :)
this song punches ugliness in the face and wakes my fallen dreams with a bouquet of love ...it's like a tempest of flowers and velvet thorns happening in my head... I love you guys!
Love your playlist. Are you in St. Pertersburg? Great city!
Btw... I think you are smokin Hot... my style for sure.
B~ from So Cali USA
Brett Miller I'm greek Brett, not russian...thanks for the compliments...
Έρχονται αθήνα στις 4 δεκεμβρίου και θεσσαλονίκη στις 5. Ευκαιρία να τους απολαύσεις από κοντα!
Margarita Trompouki αυτά είναι νέα!
I remember when this came out, think it was summer of 2013, I can’t help but feel it kind of went in under the radar a bit, it’s pure classic
Interpol and Editors, next level.
I like his strong voice and they usually have songs with powerful lyrics. Superb✨💎
I love his voice!
I love his voice too!
@Golden yaaas! 😍👍
His voice has never been better. Brilliant track.
this song found me 10 years later...thank u
Blue Monday Podcast 💙
I love how these guys matured over the years.
I mean, "The Back Room" was my soundtrack to my highschool years(i still listen to it daily), but as times flies by, our musical tastes changes, and i love how it matches what i'm currently listening on a daily basis. That's the beautiful part of growing up.
Btw Tom's voice sounds like if he was 40-50 years old. Which i love so much.
Most under rated band ever💙
Probably the best music out there.
One of the top 3 songs of the last 10 years
I feel blessed that i had the chance to watch them live. I just love English music
This is an astonishingly good song
Editors are on the nicest gifts music might ever reveal: they started off as several other bands involved in indie tendencies and apparently driven by the search of a blurry vibe, a dynamic evolution of sad rock and the method of carving a message into your mind. They round off every gig by the flawless energy Tom always shows up with. Based in Birmingham they dared combining electronic elements and mature rock ballads in a groundbreaking shape, they drove rock towards a new planet. The continuous transition from rock to electronic music that's been defining their career since they got signed is the mark of a band that needs to still be creative and to challenge its own abilities for hitting a luxury ranking in the music industry indeed.
One of the best live acts around
It doesn't matter what it sound like! I'm really really glad they're back with this awesome song!
I lit a match in Vienna tonight
It caused a fire in New York
Where is my self control
You gotta learn to be thankful
For the things that you have
Now bathe my idle soul in
Desire
Desire
Desire
Desire
Taken by force
Twist of fate
Well what weighs more
Down on your plate
A ton of love
A ton of hate
We're waiting for
A chance of, chance of, chance of
Desire
Desire
Desire
Desire
I don't trust the government
I don't trust myself
What is a boy gonna do
Build a church in the city
A place to crawl with our own
We'll give our God away
Taken by force
Twist of fate
Well what weighs more
Down on your plate
A ton of love
A ton of hate
We're waiting for
A chance of, chance of, chance of...
Desire
Desire
Desire
Desire, desire
Desire
Desire
Desire
Desire...
Taken by force
Twist of fate
Well what weighs more
Down on your plate
A ton of love
A ton of hate
We're waiting for
A chance of, chance of, chance of
This should be the pinned comment
Come to California! God they have been pushing me through many good and bad times since 08'.
Damn that full-voice chorus is so difficult to sing... this guy is so talented!
Indeed!! I've been singing for a long time a that chorus still gives me a bit of challenge.
An incredible energy!!! Great voice and sound!
These guys are like fine wine: they get better with age.
I've been DYING for a new album! This is going to be stellar.
Flipping Awesome!!
I love this band. Discovered them on pandora have been in love with them since. Editors I can't wait for the new album!!!
Definitely reminiscent of Echo & The Bunnymen, "The Cutter" in particular. And that's a very good thing.
Yeah this song could be in the album “ porcupine”
Coming back to Editors recently after not having listened them for about a decade. This came on in the car today and the echo and bunnymen vibes hit me like a slap in the face. Don’t know why I didn’t see it the last time I listened to this album. Banging track. Please come to the US soon, lads.
Que grandes. Me encantan muchísimo quiero volver a verlos en vivo.. Come to Madrid.
Love everything if this song: music, lyrics and tom's beatiful voice!
His voice is powerfull 🤘
Here because of the Blue Monday Podcast... COYB... 19th Nov 23 Joint top of the Championship !!!
This IS the editors- whatever they produce is a product of the same genius behind The back room and An end has a start. Appreciate it.
God..this is so great
Hoy descubri a una magnifica banda... ¡ES GENIAL!
Escucha los discos anteriores son magnificos
Brilliant. Look forward to the album
Complimenti!!! ha un tiro sto pezzo degno di stare nella top 50 di tutti i tempi
U2 was my first association too, even before hearing the song, mostly because of Tom's hairdo. Reminds me of With or Without You video...
These boys are clever! Giving off the sweet fragrance of U2's most favourite moments when U2 are not exactly themselves anymore!
This is Editors' tribute to the great band!
ci sono gli anni '80 al completo ma... mi piacciono parecchio!
Awesome BASSLINE! Great 80s feel but still timeless :)
Love these guys!!!!
I've been a huge fan of Editors since their very early days. I love this song and Toms voice is as awesome as ever.Tom has gone down on record as saying he's happy with Editors2 (as he's dubbed them) & that the new album is more American sounding. But I'm going to miss Chris Urbanowicz so much I loved his guitar style and for me it was as much what made the Editors great as Toms voice
U2 + Echo and the Bunnymen = This Epicness
back to their roots, really catchy guitar riffs, and driving bass. Great song
This song doesn't just fill up the silence, it stretches it out
“And welcome to the blue Monday podcast” #itfc
X Factor li ha fatti conoscere all'Italia. Grazie, dopo lunghi mesi le mie preghiere sono state esaudite!
Great song, great return of Editors.
DON'T KNOW ABOUT SOME, BUT I HEAR EDITORS WHEN I LISTEN TO THIS SONG, NO ONE ELSE!!!!!!
Love this track...a mix of Echo,Joy Division...and a bit U2 (Desire)😉❤❤🎵🎶
Was thinking that Tom has a Curtis/McCullogh vocal blend going on, with a bit of Mr Hewson in there too.....

I would love an interpretation too. Is that asking too much 😛
Genius Lyrics that seep into your subconscious!
So so so good. Love this.
He has a great voice! Always loved Editors!

0:12 Love that bass line!
Sound like Editors.
You're right, man - absolutely ;-)
Excellent track,
And to those of us who love our long overcoats and shades
Yes its like the Bunnymen, and a hint of Mission, but its the Editors doing what they do best
W E L C O M E B A C K lads ! ! !

Just awesome!
echo and the bunnymen
Desire,

I love this song!
Another great album from a really great band !!!!!!
i listen and i listen and is the best that i ever hear.
I love Echo and the bunnymen 'lips like sugar'. This song reminds me it a lot.
This is perfect...I love this song!
i think this is their best album, a band needs to grow and this was the right step forward
i liked ! I Looks like a Echo and the Bunymen songs.
Great letter
Chris Urbanowicz g. ur.22.06.1981 r. świętuje dzisiaj swoje urodziny 100 lat i wszystkiego najlepszego drogi jubilacie.
***** ...moje radio do kilku lat zaszczepia takie odjazdy...:-))
....dzięki i pozdrawiam Cię...:-))
Best rock song I've heard a long time! Excellent rock vocal! Thanks,Editors Keep on rockin'
great voice!!! nice energy!!!
Nothing wrong with them being influenced by the bunnymen. This song is outstanding, need more stuff like this in todays poor state of music quality.
Oh yeah. Of all the cover versions of "Cutter", this is my favourite :-)
I am in love with his voice!!!
What a wonderful voice!!! 😎
With the recent U2 output, they should count themselves lucky to be compared to this......it's awesome, still is!!!
Sounds very much like Echo & The Bunnymen to me rather than U2. And yes, they've made some right old shit. I loved the first 4 U2 albums, then they became a singles album band for me at best.
Senghe Kinda hear "The Call" from back in 1986; with a pinch of Eddie Vedder growl.
So "Echo and The Bunnymen" sound! Bring it on!
i love the editors, great band...i'd love to see them live!
This is so The Mission like, anybody who knows The Mission will recognize it here, the bass line, drums and the main guitar riff bring back memories of The Mission uk right away!
well done Editors. What a good influence.
I am a mission fan but actually i don’t think this could be compared to their style, i would say they’re more similar to joy division and echo and the bunnymen, which are two of my favourite 80’s bands
It's like the opening theme to Friends.
+Joseph P i was about to comment the same thing lol
This song failed to reach the top 40, thus failed to get airtime. Shame...
MrJackCarrington just another example of how f**ked up the world is mate
Here in Belgium they play it frequently
awesome song. Love it !!
love them! they were so good in croatia inmusic festival this june!!!
Everyone saying they sound like U2, but how am I the only one who thinks they sound exactly like Pearl Jam??
NekkidSnaek He sounds slightly like Vedder. Not very much, but I hear it.
Listen Echo and the bunymenn
This is echo & the bunnymen !
I hear Springsteen
Heard this song while walking in Venice Italy from a small little shop. Omg it was so awesome that I had to open up my phone to find out who it was ! Super happy time :D
This is sooooo good ❤️
Sounds like “editors “ to me to be completely honest
U2 finally wrote a good song! Been waiting for this for too goddamn long! :)
+Pitsome Gear You're welcome :P
true! what a rip off..fucking idiots.
Nick cave
Thought the same!
also has a bit of an echo and the bunnymen vibe going on which I quite like
Loving this song.
