Cascadia tip, you press the A/C button once and the green light comes on, it means eco mode, press it again and it turns blue equals max A/C
Been driving a cascadia for 7 months now and I never knew that 🤜🤛
No, it's the opposite. You don't run the AC on "blue" because it's garbage and the system freezes up before you do.
Dave I feel like this is a sign for me!
Your the reason I took the plunge to become a truck driver, I was a yard Jockey for Amazon and now I'm driving for JB Hunt. I started out this week and then I see your back driving again with the same truck as mine as well! If this isn't a sign for me that I'm on the right path I don't know what is!! Keep on trucking!!! Thank you Dave!
hello fellow TA lol how you liking leaving amazon after the class A? we’ve lost like 3 people to jb hunt was it worth it?
On the Freightliner, your options are: flash your hazards or press the left button on the right d-pad (next to the cancel button - opposite the cruise control speed increase/resume cruise button) on the steering wheel. That button on the steering wheel flashes your marker lights three times.
Also, just in case - if your having trouble with the Freightliner constantly coasting at the worst possible time press the button on the right stalk of the steering wheel (similar to the windshield washer button). This puts the truck into performance mode (looks like you are able to since the word economy is white rather than grey. Holding the same button on the stock allows you to stay in a gear (like a sequential gearbox).
E-Coast and downshifting so that the engine is up above 1800 rpms destroys these trucks drivetrains.
Also the company may have disabled this feature, for me once im up to speed it kicks it out of manual mode. tried to get the company to enable it for my own safety reasons ( being able to pick what gears i need for climbing or that all important going down a mountain side) and was told, ' Oh we can't enable that for you because its a safety feature to protect the truck because it can't go above certain RPM's"
Also Dave, you can set up the cruise control and truck settings. play around with your trucks menu and get used to it.
@@RaliiTheNovaB3ast Most fleet vehicles have varying settings locked down - I don't have access to modify any cruise settings, unfortunately (though, I can modify some settings for the truck - mostly light related, but it's only a 2019). I constantly battle with keeping my truck in performance mode (most noticable when the truck starts coasting), the max RPM in manual mode I can get is 1400 in 11th.
The engine braking effect is rather lacking (when compared to an older mannual semi), so use the jake brake when possible on downhills - the hotter you brakes, the less effect they have.
In case anyone is unaware, the newer Freightliners have descent control - while in cruise pull the right stalk towards you all the way - this engages the jake brake to full - wait about a half second the push the stalk away two notches - this is the lowest jake brake setting - you're icon may change but the truck should slow to your cruise speed (noticable when the jake brake increases or decreases on its own), push the stalk all the way forward when you're descent is complete otherwise the truck will continue decelerating..
Drive a manual and save yourself the weird button pushing.
David I'm 11 and I hope when I get older I become a trucker just like you and one day meet you but have a safe journey
You can always do what I did for night backings. I would use Glow Sticks and place one on my lines both driver & blind sides. Made it real easy for night time maneuvers
Loved your first adventure, Dave. Perfection on that back. Thanks for taking us along. Stay safe.
i started watching you when the pandemic first started. i lost track of what you were doing when i started grad school but i remember you stopped driving. its good to see you back man. i love your videos
Good to hear the excitement you've got back.
Hey Dave! I love the Grey hubcaps of the truck! Good to see you back again!
God bless your trip!
Hey Dave, good to see you back. I remember that home depot in philly(if its still in the same place) was in THE WORST place a distribution place could be in. Last time i was there gun fire was going off. Stay safe out there.
That was a beautiful sunrise! Ready to get back otr Monday myself 🚛💨
I don't tend to watch a lot of US trucker vlogs as I'm from the UK but I'm actually quite liking these videos you're putting out so ima stick around for a hot minute ;)
Dave, the little circle pad on the right side of the steering wheel is where your blinker button for your marker lights is located. The top button is headlights and the left button is marker lights. The other two buttons and the CNCL button in the center are for cruise control.
Always get out and look!! Glad you’re back to vlogging! Missed your videos man
OMG How I have missed you and your humor. Oh and can't forget about "Story Time with Dave!" Stay safe ❤️
Hey there dave good to see you back behind the wheel.where is the lady you were driving with awhile back is she driving solo now like you.like your videos safe travels buddy.
Dave love your videos just started driving for pam I'm new to trucking but wanted to do this all of my life loving the trucking life hope to see ya out there some time
Good to see ya Dave !!
Hey Dave I love your stuff keep up the good work
Glad to see your back driving Dave, i missed the turn cams and such. Nothing against your former Partner, but i like when your driving alone ,and yacking to all of us watching. Welcome Back
I’m new to trucking a tip is alway use the outside utility light to see better. I can’t do the dark. I want to make sure my pre and post trips are clear.
Hey Dave it's good to use the utility lights at night specially on the freightliner cascadia they're very bright 🌞 😀 just saying be safe out there ✌️ 👍👍👍
Always gotta be excited for your first load. Thanks for the video Dave!
that's what she said? 🤣🤣 imma head out 🥴
Look at you puttin it in the hole in one shot! No pull ups in this blue freight shaker! Good on ya Dave. You still got it! It truly is like riding a bike. Ya just got to figure out where Al the switches are and what they do. Tell that navigation girl who she’s talkin to! It’s Dave girl! Show a little respect! Hold it in the road driver! Later!
Dave we met in Joplin a few months ago...I also have a Blue Freightliner mines a 2020...yours has the nice wheel covers so CFI hooked you up.....I'm currently heading to California......
Keep up the good work Dave ❤️
Home Depot loads are easy loads. I had a store leave product on my trailer. Had to go back in there to tell them about what they left behind. I used to do Ashley Furniture loads out of Ecru Mississippi. They are like 8,000lbs
Where ya been dave? Where's your lady! Did I miss something??
IDK what happened, but I sure did miss ya! In my opinion, I like automatic Cascadia Freightliners the best. I started off in 10 speed Kenworth, and drove brand new Peterbilt too. Keep the videos coming plz, Dave. Back in the saddle again🎵🎼
Awesome video Dave I really missed these videos.
Love yea man. Glad to see you back. Next time just let the air out of the suspension when the trailers that low.
In the Freightliner, the "thank you" marker light blinky blink should be on the steering wheel as well, if I recall correctly.
If I remember correctly it is next to the engine brake button, so you blinky blink when you try to turn on the engine brake...🤣
Isn’t it one on left and other on right on the wheel?
I have a 2016 Cascadia, that one is on the steering wheel, not sure about the newer cascadias
@@moeepar6657 in my 22 it’s on the right side of the wheel
I prefer the damn button being on the turn signal/wiper control stick lol
So fun watching you.
It's good to have you back vlogging again brother, back in the saddle.
im always looking forward to watch you great video as always!
9:11 Are we the same person 😂😂😂 I do that every time. Im so used to keeping my trailer brakes on. I have ptsd every time I take my lines off from blasting air twice before.
Holy hell, same! It's not even like scary, it's just the "AGH, son of a!...." And then you look around to see if anyo else saw you be a dummy.
Damn, Dave, you're one cool trucker! Wish we had more like ya on the road....Safe truckin', and keep up the great attitude!
Good morning Dave happy Thursday keep up the great video I love looking at your video
Glad to hear you’re old school I grew up in a truck in the 50s and 60s started driving truck in the late 60s and a truck would Never pass or get passed without a light 💡 flash or blink, not to much of that anymore 😢
Good video dave
Dave be like, just give it hell 😅😅, sometimes its all it needs, great video again 👍
i love the home depot runs so easy looking for a company that offers a home depot dedicated. I did the perris CA - luckey OH run for months ez money
Your like my fav trucker on yt, i’m near cincy and monroe is close by! i’m so happy and we are from ohio and i watch your vids like crazy
Round control on right hand side of steering wheel. Top button is headlights flash, left button is the blinky blinkies
Fun video today. Stay safe my friend. God bless you. 🙏
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who is a show off every time they do a one shot.
Nice sunset
Wat up Dave huge fan of RWD made me come to CFI
Heading to Joplin on Monday for orientation
Your GPS was listening when you said I hope it says say a command LOL
I just left that Home Depot DC in Monroe on Monday. My trailer had a flat when I went to pick it up tho 😩
Blinky Blinks makes you sound like a know it all Dave, you gotta relax on this complicated terminology. Love the videos man its good to have consistent content back again 🔥🔥
Funny you mentioned your link to drive for CFI lol I just put in an application last week I just have to get my permit first before I go to orientation and then training
You can turn off ecoast that’ll help a lot with losing speed going down and up hills. It’s the button that looks like a square or two on the right side of you steering wheel, caddy corner to the set button for cruise control. I always turn my ecoast off and the under speed to 0. Your company may frown on it but mine hasn’t said anything to me about mpg I still get 8.5
Glad to see you back on the road.
The freightliner are good man ur gonna like it plus ur getting in new trucks kentworth now freightliner w
Thank you button on a freightliner is at the 9 o'clock position on the right side of the steering wheel, right next to the headlight button
your videos are great ill be starting for this company tuesday
You're next Tractor Supply should be Smithfield, Virginia. We live near that one. Safe travels!
I used to go there all the time for Arnold Transportation. Home Depot always sent me off site to drop my trailer.
Back in Blue!
Nice drive😎✌️✌️👍
Flash headlights is top button on the right side of steering wheel, flash other lights is the left button .
Welcome too the Midwest state I’m in Indiana I’m might see u on the highways around here
Glad your back on the road dave!
I think the more you drive it the more you’ll like it I got a Freightliner basically the same one you got and if I Have my way I’ll drive the same truck as long as I can
To flash your lights in the cascadia just turn them off and on ik the main headlights don't turn off when you do that but all the marker and brake lights do
I've got a 19 cascadia and I miss the way I could lower my drive axels to get under the trailer especially heavy loads.I think the designer never drove a truck before.
@Sid The sloth not on mine when I was assigned the truck I asked to be shown the controls and that was pointed out to be not included
@Sid The sloth that's why I said the designer never drove before
Remember what I said about the cruise control in the last video Dave. Your Crusie Control setting for underspeed needs to be set to zero so you can pull them hills better.
Love the vids keep it up
A few things I cannot wait for is him walking around trying to find the building that’s are my favorite and him singing so spectacular. I have a question f about the grey hubcaps on the truck my question is are they for aerodynamics or for fuel efficiency?
Also i watched a ton of truck Driver vlogs from other channels they cannot compare to Saint David’s he goes way more in-depth. It’s wholesome content.
If you bump a trailer, and it tries to push you out . Drop your airbags ,and back under it . Use your [park] brakes to hold the trailer up , and roll the landing gear down , but not too much .
Best Trucker I know
I liked the freightliner for driving..turning...
Downsides
No power going up hills...mountains forget it...
The ride isn't as good as the KW...
I always felt that drives came loose easier in snow...ice...inclement weather...
Careful Dave...be safe..
The marker light blinker is on the right side of the steering wheel on the spoke where the cruise control is and headlight blinker.....
3:15 Gotta love Garmin's overly sensitive Voice Command, LOL..
And this video is how My homie Dave got his Kenworth back CFI been watching 👀 😂
It’s the merch that surprises me lol
Another Banger Dave, even with all the time trucking and editing videos I still make time to watch your videos. Currently getting live unloaded it’s been 3 hours….
Looks like so many of us truckers decided to start YT channels, I'm having trouble following them all 😂
Felt that, delivered to a Walmart DC Wednesday. 5 hours
@@derekizyk6157 that’s ridiculous I got done after 4 hours
Your on low profile tires you don't have to leave a gap. That's for trucks that run bigger tires like the W900 and 379s. We leave a gap so it's not to high for the newer trucks with smaller tires.
Dave, it never fails when I 1shot a spot there is no one around, but if I have a 2 pull up attempt or a tight spot that I have to get into there are always people waiting to get by me or sitting there getting unloaded watching the disaster unfold 🤣
Always 😂
@@RidingWithDave Where's Billie at in this video Dave
High Dave, nice movies. I am trucking on the computer.
prob best tip i can give any truckdriver, pilot g2 pens always work
The GPS knows you well Dave lol
Same place you dim your lights. To the right is the blink the trailer lights.
North of Cincy? That's my old stomping grounds. Fairfield is where I grew up.
bruh that pen im dying
The fith wheel wouldn't release because you didn't have the brakes pulled at first. I did the same thing the first time I used it.
That is awesome congratulations Dave and have you ever tried to use truckers path I use that and my garmin Dezl and it really helps
Duh
Buy some tape and cover the fifth wheel slide button.
And Monroe is one of our Dedicated accounts. We have Home Depot on lock here at JB lol
I’ve been there before on a load coming out of Dayton Ohio
They told us in school to leave an inch from the landing gear to the ground and then dump the bags, when you don't that's usually when the trailer is too high for the next guy and he backs past the Kingpin and gets it stuck behind the fifth wheel
A lot of drivers crank landing gear all the way down and then some, some times before they set the trailer brakes... I want to strangle them when I have to hook up to that trailer after it's loaded.
Back in the day, with spring suspension on trailers, the rule was to crank landing gear all the way with a few extra turns when dropping loaded trailer, and leave more gap when dropping empty because the springs would bend and make the front of the trailer go up or down a lot more. With air suspension, it is not as bad, but the rules are simmilar.
You're making me miss that job... looking back, driving was so much better than sitting in an office 😐
you made you GPS blush xD
Dave JB hunt has a “dropyard” there that’s why there’s so many hunts there
Trailer is low either drop the suspension n roll back under the trailer or raise it to the correct height to feel the truck squat as your fifth wheel plate is on the trailer
I WAS WAITING OMGGG YES
nice video
Hey, I have that flashlight, it is fantastic!!
There is a switch, below your trailer/truck brakes that allows you do dump the air out of your tractor bags to lower its ass. Next time just dump those bags and you won’t have to wrench on the landing gear of the trailer.
Surprise that didn’t bless you with a brand new body style kenworth. Welcome back to trucking on the highway
Ya know what, me too 😂
