Awesome video. I’ve been in the trucking business for 15 years and my best advice is to try to eat healthy. In my first year in trucking,I gained over 50 pounds by mostly eating at fast food places. You can get creative in making decent meals in the truck. Also save money on eating out every day. Best of luck and I’ll be subscribing and looking forward to seeing more videos.
Congrats on getting your CDL Class A without the auto restriction haha, Will be following your journey; I joined Mclane and went through their driver academy, I am on the truck with trainer now; just trying to decide if I want to stay there or go to CFI for OTR
@@357squared yes, Mclane has a driver academy where you can get your cdl.. but I honestly would recommend not going to them.. the short time I drove for them, I quickly learned they do not care about their drivers and will leave you stranded on the side of the road in a heartbeat
@@357squared yeah, I would check out either going through CFI or Prime, those are the two bigger companies that help get you the CDL Don't go to a cdl school on your own because they overcharge the hell outta those courses (one by where I live was $10,000 and over a month you couldn't do any work because you'd have to be in a class)
@@kolosis1149 cfi was on my list I just found out they stop taking south Florida last month so I missed soon as I FOUND out about them but might go prime or Schneider thanks bro be safe
I went to both TD and crowder crowder was so much better.. this guy is 100% right about TD besides the trainers they went through trainers like crazy there and frankly CFI dropped TD and now only uses crowder because no one was passing their CDL tests there! It wasnt bad besides the trainer darell all he ever done was bicker and moan about other students doing this or doing that and not teaching others to drive or do pre- trips! Now if I was anyone going through their CDL program id drop it and go to crowder!
I'm in Miami, I just graduated 12/30 I'm trying to find a good company that will train. I worked with a friend of mine legit company but he only let me run the bobcat and he only wanted to do local stuff. I'm trying to get on the road. Will this company train you?
Honestly not really sure, I was really close to the management at my previous job, and they never said the even called them but just be careful because I’m sure they call some peoples!
Stay Minimal (supplies) on the road. You have a refrigerator because your in a old Transport America truck. We merged into CFI and Created CFI Dedicated. Just FYI, CFI did NOT buy Trabsport America. We where both owned by Trans Force International of Canada and CFI and Transport America where batteling eachother on bids for loads, it was getting rediculious. If you have Questions or need anything get set up on Workplace and Workplace Chat. Welcome aboard.
Hey man thanks for the comment I haven’t been told what I can go into detail in regards to things like this, but if you call a recruiter 877-897-0654 they should be able to tell you hope this helps!!
Depends on experience, I would love to give you a number but I’m not sure how much it would change if you didn’t have a CDL versus if you already had one, I would reach out to a recruiter and they could tell you more! Thanks for watching!
Yea they told me the same the issue is you gotta wait at trucking school for the people ahead of you to pass and that slows it down I didn’t even get a chance to test until the 4th week and I was ahead of my class from the beginning, and then it was like an extra 2 weeks so I’m at like 5& 1/2 weeks to test out passed the first time went straight to Joplin had to wait 4 days for orientation went to orientation then had a week or 2 wait for a trainer. So yes it’s a long time but I’ve heard that other companies you have to wait 4 months before they can even find you a trainer!
@@RidingWithJay good to know. I’m going to a private cdl school and then hire on with a smaller company when a trainer is ready. These mega carriers seem disorganized to say the least.

What school did you attend? I’d heard they send you either to Dynasty or Crowder. Heard bad things about Dynasty
I went to dynasty I like it, the only bad things were the Food at the truck stop and the commute

How did you get from Econolodge to Dynasty each day?
They have a shuttle that comes and picks you up
Does truck dynasty driving academy make you pay out of pocket or do they cover the tuition as long as you work with a certain company for so long?
It will be covered if you work for CFI
