I really enjoyed all 5 episodes. Many great endings left out though. Old school folks enjoy the mid 70's -early 80's. Please consider in your future postings. I would love to see a best openings series too! Again, great stuff. Thanks!
Egads!!!! No 1996 with the the Conductor in tears and that horn line grabbing the crowd by their collective throats and taking the championship with raw force? Good googly-moogly! HATt's got to be one on the list!
@Rizzle2377 Freddie and Mike martin are awesome. They worked with us (The Academy) trumpets mostly. It was an honor to have them with with the trumpets.
I’ve looked through all the videos and can’t find 82 Vanguard when they pulled out Bottle Dance. I was there and the crowd just lost it. I agree with the guy that said there is not enough 70s and 80s endings. 84 Suncoast Sound with the flag, Lancers Danny Boy, there are a lot of great endings from the past.
OK< after viewing all 5 of your videos, these are quality endings, to be sure, but I was in DCI in 1981 and 82, and if you cannot find any of the shows from the 70's and 80's, you are missing out on some of the greatest endings of all time...Cavaliers 1980, Softly as I Leave You; Madison Scouts 1980-81 Through the Eyes of Love; Madison 1983-84 Memories from Cats; Spirit, 1983, We Are The Reason; SkyRyders 1980-on, Somewhere Over theRainbow...check out the 80's and see, the corps were better then
That hilarious moment when you're sitting in band class, watching phantom regiment, and one of the awe-struck freshmen blurts out "Oh my God! What school is this?!"
sadly there are thousands of schools (band program, community, administrators, band directors, parents) that still does not know what a drum & bugle corps is. The scary part is, these ignorant people are in schools with states that have TOP 12 corps !
96, 03, and 08 were already used in one of the previous videos this person did, so no worries folks. They didn't forget them. I appreciate not being redundant in that regard :) This is an awesome ode to Phantom Regiment. On a side note, that ending from 1991? It would be so badass if Phantom would bring that back.
@Rizzle2377 This video is part of a (currently) five part series in which PR 03 and 08 have already been featured. If this video was a stand-alone, then those endings would have been most definetely included.
I wish there was a better video of '89 from up top.... the TV director for the PBS presentation, from which this video was taken, was TERRIBLE! I don't think he'd ever seen a drum corps show before that night.... he almost missed this fabulous move from Phantom, but the worst example is how he totally missed the Cadets' "meltdown" move that was so beautiful with a close up of the snares! ugh.... getting mad over 25 year old TV shows.... ;)
@natesquared Like someone else told you, it's the fourth movement of the New World Symphony. You shpuld be on the lookout for a DCA corps playing (for the most part) the same show as Phantom did in 89 this year.
can someone post the 1996 carolina crown show chess the art of strategy and the full show of the 1996 orlando magic show 1996 was a good year for dci im just sayin
That moment when the drum major and section leader are bouncing up and down like "OHMYGOD THIS IS MY FAVORITE PART! SHUT UP SHUT UP!" -3 Woohoo Go Richmond Hill Marching Wildcats! -3

Again, great stuff. Thanks!
I love how in 0:34 to 0:44 you can hear similarities to On Air, their 2007 show. It's not exact, but it gives me the feeling of it.
Harmonic Journey, hands down best DCI performance of all time performed in 2003 by Phantom Regiment.
Egads!!!! No 1996 with the the Conductor in tears and that horn line grabbing the crowd by their collective throats and taking the championship with raw force? Good googly-moogly! HATt's got to be one on the list!

man....this is theater
Never was JUDGES ARE YOU WATCHING more true.

absolutely amazing, thanks for posting this

Harmonic Journey was featured in the second video in this series. :D
AMAZING. Love the video. Add Harmonic Journey at the end and it'll be absolutely perfect. All in all, though, thank you.
Faust 2006- YES!!!!
1989 was maybe Phantom's best ever. That was my first ever finals in person.
"JUDGES ARE YOU WATCHING?!?!?!"
Madison 95. The crowd was so loud the Cavaliers had to stop their warm up. I'll post the video when I get a chance.
Did you hear someone say judges are you watching 😮
1991.. the spread and blow. Best moment in DCI ever.
Ah, the best moments of my favorite corps. I love it that they play classical music so often.
And you saved my absolute all-time favorite for last. :)
@STApercussionkid The video was made prior to the 2010 season.
could you imagine if this 10min video was all in one 11min show for a season
That hilarious moment when you're sitting in band class, watching phantom regiment, and one of the awe-struck freshmen blurts out "Oh my God! What school is this?!"

'93 was one of my favorite years and I never see it on any lists. It makes me sad. :(
That Stravinksy Firebird always gets me... 2007 when they changed the ending week of finals, that was just Amazing!
The 2007 show On Air wasn't one of my favorite PR show, except the closer was soooo amazing.
I argue to this day that Phantom 89 should have won. SCV was better in percussion, but Phantom was LOADS better in brass and visual execution.
1989 Phantom = AWESOME!
One of the best visual I've ever seen @1:23! It's so provocative! haha
the 09 video isn't from finals, that would be atlanta, 2 weeks before finals
You're missing one - 2010. [:
What happened to huge banners in DCI shows like at 2:30 ish? I miss them.
96, 03, and 08 were already used in one of the previous videos this person did, so no worries folks. They didn't forget them. Riffnote Dane 1991 is my favourite Phantom show.
I saw them do an encore of the bacchanale a few years back and I had CHILLS all over.
8:28 is better known on youtube as "Phantom Regiment - Drum Corps - 2007 - Running Hornline"
/watch?v=ytBFg3aMx5c
@CoasterStreak You mean "generic ending? lol.
i really want to be a part of this band one day. :) dream big!
@Rizzle2377 This video is part of a (currently) five part series in which PR 03 and 08 have already been featured. If this video was a stand-alone, then those endings would have been most definetely included.
You pretty much could have renamed this "Best DCI Endings" and leave it at that :)
OMG I was at this show when I was 16! AWESOME, I can still phantoms 91 sound and the 91 finals Dallas HEAT!
I absolutely crack up everytime I see or hear the slap during the 09 show, it was awesome.
Some good choices. Too bad the audio and video aren't quite synced...
Do you still have the 2009 Atlanta footage?
1989 was insane!
I wish there was a better video of '89 from up top.... the TV director for the PBS presentation, from which this video was taken, was TERRIBLE! i need new pants...
'09? I haven't seen the others yet but I would've replaced it with '95.
@natesquared Like someone else told you, it's the fourth movement of the New World Symphony. You shpuld be on the lookout for a DCA corps playing (for the most part) the same show as Phantom did in 89 this year.
@tubajake63 The Belshazzar's Feast show is sadly one of the most uinderrated programs in DCI history.
APASIONADA!!!! :D
@rreemmzzrruullee true, true. my bad. my sincere apologies.
My high school is playing Phantom's 91 ending as our closer all at 160bpm... but i doubt our brass can play it though...
Geez you people are so demanding, he has 4 other videos so stop complaining about what hes missing
@schantzman87 indeed... Phantom gets robbed every year... they are way better than any other corps out there.
While Spartacus was an absolutely amazing show, I still believe nothing can compart to SCV's 1989 Phantom of the Opera show!
i wouldve loved to be a horn player in phantoms 1991 show lol that guard was all over them
@SuperColbinator youll never be in it if you call it a band.
No 2005 or 2008?!
2003 :(
i cried watching Spartacus xD
can someone post the 1996 carolina crown show chess the art of strategy and the full show of the 1996 orlando magic show 1996 was a good year for dci im just sayin
Woooo 89 Phantom!
@DCIPhan11 I would, but then there would be SO MUCH HATEMAIL.
Best one starts at 4:07. :)
Where is 2011
what's the song at 3:50?
No '08 Spartacus?
That moment when the drum major and section leader are bouncing up and down like "OHMYGOD THIS IS MY FAVORITE PART! SHUT UP SHUT UP!" -3
Woohoo Go Richmond Hill Marching Wildcats! -3
Just gonna say it, based on the other 5 videos... it's pretty biased. and some of the shows didn't deserve to be titled "DCI's Best."
@schantzman87 Obviously NOT!
xDD
