Just watching the Snorlax's health climb right back up as it sleeps off being poisoned, and watching his body slam which is "not very effective" ravage Skarmory's health and paralyze it is anxiety-inducing af. I would build teams through the whole damn game just to deal with him and fluggin Espeon.... I always somehow ended up with Umbreon due to video game time in my house growing up being reserved for the evening's, and being sad and confused that the best dark move it got was faint attack as it couldn't learn crunch in gen 2, so I would always turn it into Jolteon. Sorry for the reminiscing rant
Great surprise as a kid. I just wish the battle wasn’t so easy it was the same experience for me I was like HOLY SHIT ITS ASH!? Anddddd I end up just demolishing his team on my first try lol It would have been cooler if ALL of his Pokémon were level 100. His pikachu should have been at least 100, pikachu has plot amor for gods sake 😂
Everything is a joke until Snorlax enters the battle. 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ Bruh, it took me like 5 paralyze heels, 5 revivals and several max potions to defeat ‘em.
My best strats to clutch that Snorlax out is to either keep it asleep with Butterfree using Sleep Powder, so he can't use Rest at all, and since Butterfree is WAY faster than Snorlax, you can sleep it on the first turn so it can't setup Amnesia, and you Psychic the fuck out of it. Or alternatively, you can use any mon with Disable (preferably Misdreavus, since it'll be immune to Normal attacks), so as soon as he uses Rest you disable it out. You can also Perish Song it and switch out on the last turn, always work wonders to get rid of an annoyance like a Rest-Snore Snorlax (taking into account that Red won't switch out).
It needs AT THE VERY LEAST Thunderbolt. Can't remember if it can learn Rain Dance in Gen II, but if so, a Rain Dancer w/ Thunder is just magical. 100% accuracy Thunder under rain
@@TopMach1 I know, I've played Crystal for years. But it's not guaranteed an Electric-type can learn Rain Dance. For instance, the Pikachu line can, but the Magneton line cannot. So if Raikou can learn Rain Dance in gen II, a Thunder Rain Dancer setup would be amazing. But idk since I didn't play much with Raikou, I've almost exclusively played Suicune
Such a classic battle, always annoyed me how you either needed an HM slave or to take up moveslots with HMs on your main team to get up Mt. Silver.
Same

No worries. You have every right to reminisce.
Sleep Powder Butterfree vs Red's Snorlax is a win to me. ALWAYS.
I think red just decided to follow in the foot steps of the karate king and train in isolation

Nice battle but you should’ve made your Pokémon in the 60s or 70s in level
I'd say 75+ to deal with Snorlax without it Rest'ing everytime you down it to low HP
Respect for going under level
It then lost it by using potions….
Respect for using legendaries
Using potions is worse than going over level imo (if the over level isn’t too big
