I carry a pack of T-stat backing plates now. They cover the old wall paper if the new T-stat is smaller than the old one, but, the good thing is, the plate gives you plenty of area to put a screw in case you run into the wallowed out screw holes from the previous T-stat. Love the videos! I've learned alot from your channel! Especially about Boilers. Keep up the great work!
We bought a New Expensive System in Oct. 2021, and the Fan on the Outdoor Unit barely rotates and is Incredibly Quiet. It was Expensive but Super Efficient. 👍🙏
Electrician hack. Tie a small piece of plastic bag to the end of the blue rope, stick the drain vacuum on the opposite end, your gonna have to tug and direct the rope into the pipe but it will reach the other end.
I bet those condensers love that dryer vent. Yearly condenser coil cleanings for sure. Never heard about the drain rope. Interested to see the results.
Lol I got to say I still love working on the old 22 units they were a work horse.. I am waiting to see how long before we are installing R 290’s in residential.. that will be an interesting fire department, dinner, table, subject!! I had to already working on commercial food service unit’s.. an? What’s that old saying? Ashes to ashes dust to dust it come from the earth it returns to the earth.( That comp oil is good for lubricating the dirt, so it is not so compacted 😅😅😅😅😅
12:51 you lost me. There’s no way you ruined a thermostat, instead of just moving the thermostat backing plate? Lmfaooooooo yooooo you wild MickeyPipes 😂
Im looking for a better way to deal with condensate. Appartment block, over 300 units built in 1980. combo elect furnace/ac with condensate pan. no access to drain. Is there an alternate to a pan that can perhaps evaporate the condensate and avoid drainage which would require extensive plumbing through concrete walls and floors. Any suggestions welcome.
The blue rope probably works to stop sludge growth, but I doubt I'd ever be able to fish it through all the bends in my line. Some years ago I just made a PVC-to-shopvac adapter from the top of a 2 liter coke bottle and a PVC coupler. I plug that on once a year and suck out all the gunk. Takes 5 minutes to do and works great. I've always wondered what that mystery sludge is made of. Some kind of slime mold? Let's just hope it doesn't evolve.
I was going to say the blue rope sounds like snake oil, but when Mikey was feeding it in, I saw the blue stuff coming off on his hands. That might very well be copper sulfate, which is more than toxic enough to prevent anything from growing in those pipes for many years. It's a commercial denaturant, also kills tree roots in sewer lines. I hope he washed his hands.
while it will stop things from growing, it doesn't cure dirt/debris clogging at sharp bends and low spots(which also cause double trapping) and we all know how well condensate drains are supported and pitched properly(lol, yeah rarely). only being flushed yearly at high volume with cleaner will work, that and some treatment tabs in the pan.. hope they're prepared to fall on their swords. 😬
@@throttlebottle5906I brush every trap, flush at least 1 gallon of water through it, add tablets to the pan, and the Viper Drain Pan Treatment Spray to the trap.
I wouldn't say you safely confirmed there was no power to ground as I didn't see that the raised cover was bonded to the bare grounding wire. Paint also will insulated and not give a good connection between metals. Maybe I am as blind as a bat but I am just trying to be aware of my surrounds. Thank for the entertaining and educational videos.
I was going to comment on the same observation. You can't check voltage to ground on an ungrounded switch plate. I also noticed that the ground wire in the romex didn't appear to be bonded to the switch box either. Kinda looked like someone removed the bonding screw and did not replace it.
If you flip the tank over and charge the recovery tank through suction it will not generate as much heat to the tank. The dip tube is shooter than the liquid side of the tank and that applied for every tank.
While I did go to school for HVAC, I am currently working for a soda/beer distributor as a service tech. I am quite curious if the Prev Clog would work in a fountain machine drain line. Those things get so damn nasty...😅 Might be worth the 6 dollar a foot price tag to prevent service calls.
if it also drains the overflow catch, not a chance. soda is very nasty in multiple ways, acidic, sticky(corn syrup/sugar), other things intermixed. frequent maintenance is the only way.
to run through the PVC pipe do this..Tie a very small piece of plastic bag to a very thin flexible line like they use for plumb bobs.... use a vacuum at the other end of the pipe then use that string to pull in your doo dad condensate string
of course a sparky knows the old "mouse and vacuum trick" to pull small string through conduit. it gets a bit tricky with the small sharp bends on condensate lines. **thinking further, it's probably best to use a spool of fishing line with the piece of baggy for the initial pull through, that should also pull the "magical" condensate string through with ease. fishing line is cheap enough to toss afterwards also.
With that 2.1 they should have made the antenna internal and sold units based on the position of the antenna. You can do a 180 antenna. It's bosch, I dont understand why they did it that way. Do you know why? And what all does that "connected" system give data wise?
too much work(thinking) for "field installers" lol. but really, while directional antennas are great for open spaces, they often fail horribly given surrounding structure composition, like concrete, foil foam board/reflective layers, steel/aluminum/coatings/doors/windows/roofing/siding/awning/humans/mirrors/appliances/ducts/metallic plumbing/drywall/block/brick. I'll just stop there, yeah I've done plenty of wifi installs and design to know the caveats, as well as many fields of construction to know many of the materials are nasty to RF at all frequencies and worse the higher you go.😝

Not trying to slow your great efforts down. Just curious maybe start a dialogue focusing on the Bosch IDS Main Control Board. Specifically, does anyone have experience with the USB connector? What is a typical Use Case Scenario where a HVAC Engineer or a Super-Nerd Technician may be trained to use the USB? Why? Because I see an easier way to diagnose or otherwise adjust programming features. Otherwise we are all left with monkeying with codes on the little LED readout. That appears to me like playing a STUPID CHINESE MAJONG WASTE OF TIME. I wrote to Bosch Technical Support and here is what they e-mailed me back as follows: "The USB port is for our factory, and is not used outside of that"... Well, I guess a Super-Nerd will eventually help HINT to Bosch they could realize a little BUSINESS ADDED VALUE to themselves and the repair industry. Just wishful thinking to save a little time to diagnose these boards. Let's invite Bosch Corporate to GET OFF THEY ASS and program some easier diagnostic features into this USB port. Thank You for your great common sense efforts with your precious time helping others.

Maybe a shop vac at the other end Can help with the rope but I wonder if it will take the costing off of it
Try to put a vacuum on the end of the condensate line it should pull the cord through for you.
