I really hated pvp in the beginning because the person who got me into the game, my now ex, used to get mad at me for being bad at the game even though it was the very first shooter I ever played, so I started "hating" it for that, however once I found more like minded people to play with I started enjoying it a bit more, at least when it's been among us. Listening to you talk about it it's actually made me want to play more and try to get better at it, I just found you and really enjoy your commentary pieces, also the gameplay is incredibly good!
I want to throw my hat into the ring because what I did to find very good players is two things one is a bunch of pickups becuase everyone is at least somewhat knowledgeable. And with that you can friend the ones you like and your opponents and there is very little trash talk in that community. Eventually you can work regulars into a scrim team to do trials and comp with also. Another thing for content creators discord is choose lesser known people that are heir tier and do scrims. People like Albertis and even zami who are small basically have a viewer base of scrim or very heir tier players. You can find great people in their servers.
I meant to comment this when I first watched it this is completely relatable to me. Finding your twitch and getting to know your community has been a blessing to me I've met so many great players who was willing to 1v1 and it helped me improved a lot. I also tested what you said this past weekend I whispered the guy who was popping off on my team and asked him for tips and if he's down to 1v1 he said he's down whenever. Thanks Lu for having a dope community.
The algorithm had shown me this video of yours previous, but I forgot to sub. Then I saw you taking part of the Castle smg video and suddenly remembered this one. Subbed now. Love the talks. Working through your back catalog now. Cheers.
You're 100% right when it comes to searching for new people. Most players don't really reach out or network with friends of friends. They kinda just wait to people to come to them instead of trying to approach other people. But once you make those connections, you immediately become a part of so many more communities and small groups
I was watching Kamiya a few days ago on stream, he was doing Pickups. So funny to see him invite you to it, I feel like that’s exactly what this video is about. Find those players or group that will reach out to you like you will do to them to have fun and improve.
I like the part of good players learning from you. I've always thought about this because I came from cs. I love reading my opponents and not relying on my aim too much. Still lose a lot but being able to outsmart a really good player is always the best feeling
As always, amazing video Lunar! I've always enjoyed pvp since Y1, but it wasn't until the season of the Lost that I really wanted to get better and grow. Looking for people to help me grow and possibly scrim is always really hard, most of the time people look at my stats and cringe that I'm not 1.5kd+ and its pretty disheartening. There is some anxiety with finding chances on huge LFG channels where I've had some really negative experiences too. I definitely don't hang out in pvp content creator communities, so I'll for sure take that piece of advice. Thanks again for another refreshing video bro
My best d2 friends and my current clan all came together grinding PvE. Just vibing with my IRL friend farming rat king catalyst. Random joined us in the NF and once he saw we were running rat king, he switched to his. Instant friend request. More and more people joined us along the way. Now we have a clan of like 20 or so people and we vibe in D2 and other games. Easily my favorite gaming memory.
Hitting up good players and telling them you're looking to improve is definitely a great tip. I'd consider myself above average at pvp but I'm pretty bad at sniping because it's not something I've ever spent much time doing. Recently I messaged a couple people who were clapping me with snipers and seemed really good. Told them I don't really snipe but am looking to get more into it and get better, and asked if they'd like to have a snipe 1v1. Both players were down and became friends afterward
I found this one kid on lfg who wanted to do skrims by accident and he was chill, so I add him and long story short he introduced me to this whole community of skrims players and they knew I was pretty crap but they invited me anyway and would try balance the teams as such in 3s. And as they knew me thru the one guy they were never toxic and offered comp and trials support. Like I learnt jump ups, stompee slide and other stuff from them.
People always laugh at me when I recommend this, but the best place to meet people to play with is master nightfall lfgs. My group I’ve found gets most of our members in the six early weeks of seasons before gms where we just take to lfgs and do masters. We’ve got our theory that masters are the perfect place to chill with people and connect with them. Gms and trials grinds are long, grueling, and miserable, and you don’t want to associate people with that, so we find that people we lfg with for those activities leave as soon as possible. Raids are six people instead of three, so there’s less of a chance for everyone in the group to be involved and it’s less personal. Master nightfalls though, you’re just there with two other regular people, maybe you have a few drinks, and it’s master so you don’t have to devote 100% of your focus to the game, and you can just get to talk to the other people and get to know them. People will be more willing to play gms or trials with you regularly if they see you as a “regular/online friend” rather than a “good destiny player.” Having the latter quality helps but we’re all dogshit yet we still run gms and trials and master raids and grind hard titles because doing them together makes them fun.

My advice for lfg is to start your own discord server and post on lfg and invite the players there. Then when you get a good one tell them to stick around, and give them a role to see a private channel where the cool people hang out. I have found a small group of likeminded non toxic people this way. After a while you build a little community of regular people to play with who don’t suck.
I once had to sit through a clan raid with some racist assholes. Left the clan after, joined another. The new clan was friendly at first but was ruined by one toxic guy during clan scrims and no one ever stood up for me. If one of the moderator had just said something to the guy, he would have stopped raging at me. I lost all the respect for the clan after few games. Its a shame cause its really hard to find a non-sweaty clan that regularly holds chill scrims.

@@enneff this is exactly what ive been doing the past two weeks lol... everything takes time so i hope soon more ppl will stick around
I'm willing to help anyone I meet I'm 300 in the season and 1582 .
2:40 “I imagine any content creator that wants to grow a community has a discord that’s moderated and not full of nasty people”
Yea unless your luminosity with bombsquadkittens and orange justice lol
